Questions & Answers

KEN B : Is this the one for Canon 7D Mark II ?SIGNE P : I do not have the new 7d Mark II, but this item fits my 7D very nicely. I find it to be so very helpful, as I wear glasses and this product has eliminated the problems I used to have looking through the viewfinder. Give it a try.ROBERT W : It fits my 7D. Robert WrotenELMORE, D : I purchased the Hoodeye Eyecup a year or two ago to use with my Canon 7D. I used it once and didn't like it. I was unable to get close enough to the viewfinder to see all 100% of the image area. If I tried to get even closer my glasses would push against my face and then become smeared from my natural oily skin. I now own the 7D Mk II and went to try the eyecup on that camera to just see if it would fit. Unfortunately I've misplaced it and cannot answer your fit question. However, be aware that if you shoot in Manual mode the exposure graph will only be visible as a vertical graph on the right side in the viewfinder. You will probably not be able to see it if you cannot get your eye close enough to the viewfinder. I find it hard to see sometimes without the interference of my Hoodeye Eyecup for Eyeglasses.JB M : I have 4 hood eyes and have them mounted on 40D, 7D, 5D-Mk2and a 5D-mk3. The rubber used to make the Hoodeye is very soft and plya ble which makes a very good fit for most people with different skull shapes around the eye. My experience over several years is to remove my glasses and turn the Hoodeye to use it on either eye. On all of my cameras that I use it does block some of the camera viewing screen and it is worse on the 5d mark 3, but this is not a problem as the rubber eye piece will turn straight up for viewing. I personally found that with the diopter adjustment on the Canons are adequate enough for me to use the camera without my glasses. This now allows me to press the camera close to my eye and the Hoodman being so soft and pliable that I get no light leakage and an additional factor not mentioned it it used this way stops the wind and my eye doesnot water. My friends who do not wear glasses have purchased these hoodeyes for their cameras. This says my hoodeyes sold themselves to all who have seen them work so well.JOSEPH F : I have the 7D and don't know if it fits the Mark II. Sorry.DWAINE G : The seller makes the claim that his product will fit the 7D Canon body. It appears correct but with no serial number or maker's verification I can not really answer any better than this. I love the item and will never shoot without one in the future. It will rotate in place without removal from the body.ALIX B : It fits properly, but if you wear glasses, it bothers a bit. I use it with glasses nevertheless. Good to have, helps see the subject clearer especially in sunny conditions.LAM-SON V : Yes, it is compatible with the 7D2. You can confirm at the manufacturer's website.JAMES S : It fits the 7dii also. Had it on my 7d and put it on the 7dii when it came in.
Keno W : Hi, can 5d mark III use this?RICHARD V : Wonderfull addition to my 1DM4. I do not have a 5D.JB M : Hi Keno. I have mounted the Hoodman Eyecuup for Eyeglasses on a Canon 40D, 7D, and a 5D Mark II. I have broken the catch arm hooks on 2 of these on my Canon 5D Mark III and do not plan to spend further $s or effort to mount one on the Mark 3. It is probably my fault but on the other hand it should not be this difficult resulting in breaking. I will say however I give the unit 5 stars on the other models as they do as advertised. I hope they solve the problem on the Mark III and let me know in some way. I hope this helps you be careful if you do forward.SHELLEY Q : Yes. I use it for the 5D Mark III. Perfect fit.DAVID S : Yup, I use it on my Mark III and it works perfectly.DWAINE G : It fits my 7D perfectly. It would seem logical to ask Hoodman about the eyecup in question fitting the 5D. Their eyecups are sized for specific camera numbers. It may make diopter use a bit difficult. This function in my case only gets changed if in handling I accidently bump it off of my personal setting. I would not go out without the Hoodman Eyecup.MATTHEW G : Make sure to reference the Hoodman website for current product compatibility, they have an easy to use chart. I have used these for years and found them to be indispensable, not just for keeping light from leaking in while using the viewfinder, but for accurate scene composition , as well.BEVERLY B : Yes...same eye cup as the 7D...the 5DMK2 is smaller.ANDREW R : Yes, this eyecup should be compatible with the 5D MkIII
CHRIS N : does this fit the 1Dx ?ELMORE, D : The eyecup does fit the 7D but I don't like using it. It doesn't provide the "light seal" I get when just using the camera without it. I readjust the diopter for my vision and look through the viewfinder without the aid of my glasses. I have an eyeglass tether strap on my glasses to help with taking them off and placing them back on during shoots.GABY G : Sorry, Couldn't tell you. I have only tried it with the 5D Mark III and it works well except when you use the live mode it covers the upper part of the screenJB M : I purchased the Hood eye E for my 40D, 7D, 5D Mk2 & 5D Mk3. All 4 of them fit perfectly and I find the E model for glasses work perfectly well and I would recommend them all who wear glasses.DAVID S : according to the Hoodman website YES, it does.DWAINE G : I love this product. It cups my eye blocking most side light distraction while eliminatiing abrasion on very expensive perscription glasses. It keeps my nose and nose oils off the camera. It somewhat hinders use of the diopter but that seldom is a used camera feature. I have them on all three cameras that I use.DWAINE G : My gut feeling is yes it should. Factually Hoodman is a fine company who could factually answer the question. Unless a user like I has absolute hands on experience any answer would only be a guess. Adorama certainly sells both. I would respect an Adorana response. Geese why subject this subject to those who are not absolutely sure?JOHN R : I cannot reply as to the 1Dx, but I am happy with it on my 7D.

I wanted the right one but it seems no one could figure out the one I was looking for.

I ordered the wrong item. I wanted the one for a 7D mark ii NOT for glasses.

Better quality that old one I had

This item was short in the shipment I received but a simple email to Hoodman and without question they quickly sent the item that was shorted in my original order. Very good response and their support was first class !

Good idea, though not prefected.

Pros: Shape and size is good. Tight fit on cancers. Cons: Rubber is too still. Rubber connection broke when attempted to turn rubber eye piece to fit the eye that I use in the viewfinder.

Works perfectly

Easier to install than it is to remove the original eyepiece. Helps align glasses with the viewfinder-without it I kept looking over my glasses or through the top bar. Seems well made and durable.

Refer to Hoodman specific body uses.

Used to stop camera eyepiece from marking my glasses. It fills this purpose very well. It rotates in place without removing from the camera body.

Works well

Without the Hoodman Eyecup, my eyeglass lens would always get smeared as I looked through the camera's viewfinder. Now, I not only can see better because of the reduced glare from side lights, but my glasses don't get smeared.
