On a recent outing, I found this retractable lanyard SO much more convenient and out-of-the-way compared to the around-the-neck version. I spent a lot of time crouched on the ground shooting wildflowers in full daylight and needed to use the Hoodloupe frequently to compose shots using camera Live View. I found the retractable lanyard clipped to my front belt loop was just "not there" until I needed it, then I would grab and pull it into position over the viewfinder, then let it go and it would quickly snap back out of the way when I was done. I also hang reading glasses around my neck when shooting which frequently tangles with the Hoodloupe neck lanyard. This retractable version is superior for me, but minus one star for the size -- it is pretty big and I would find it even more useful if the size profile could be reduced. A minor issue that does not affect my overall satisfaction with the product, though. Highly recommended!
