I purchased this to aid with InfraRed photography as the bright sun can hinder the ability to see the rear screen for both shooting and 'chimping'. The regular view finder doesn't lend itself to the affects that can only be seen through the screen.

I wanted something to help me when shooting video outdoors with my Nikon D780. This viewfinder does the job by allowing me to focus and view the scene without distractions from glare and light. It connects easily and fits fine in my camera bag.

This is a well-designed and well-made addition for DSLRs. For aging folks with aging eyesight, it provides good compensation for "long arm sight". For astrophotographers, the hood keeps the illumination from the LCD screen from wrecking the night vision of everyone in the vicinity. It's a sturdy addition to your kit bag with the great bonus of being immediately usable on other cameras. It's excellent value for money that will provide many years of good service. One minor grumble -- the provided storage bag is too small to be a useful holder for the kit. It's a nicely made bag, though, and it'll be useful somewhere else. Highly recommended.

Love this device. I use it for live view landscape photography when it is not always possible to see the EVF. My only nit is the diopter adjustment turns on its own sometimes and I have to refocus it. Beyond that, it's fantastic.

This piece of kit has changed my life for the better - focus in landscape photography can make or break a shot. This piece of kit enables me to adjust focus manually in live view, even in the brightest sunshine. Very well made, real quality.

I thought it was one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. I really didn't think I needed a visual helper. However, this was a Godsend. Since I am a tad to the right of perfect vision I didn't realize it but the Hoodman loupe let me dial in a near perfect close up. For that I have a new desire to hit the back roads and nature for some country photos. You can't go wrong with The Hoodman it's a perfect tool for up close-up inspection of your subject, or whatever, you may be photographing. Thanks, Hoodman and Adorama. Sincerely, Chuck

I just received my kit and it seems to be of good build quality. Understand that because of it's design the focus will fall off on the edges. It's really meant to give you the greatest clarity in the center of the screen. I own a Nikon D5600. Unfortunately when I received it the base did not secure well. I contacted Hoodman and they said because of the Nikon design it needed the Mirrorless style mount. They are getting me taken care of now and I look forward to using it soon!

Works great for bright situations. A little more stable shooting with live view, than holding the camera out in space and looking at the screen. (I also have the base) Optics have a large diopter adjust range, but aren't exactly Zeiss :) the center/mid is adequate but the corners are worthless.
