Questions & Answers

Shopper : is this product good for stopping static in audio equipment?VINCENT D : YesSEAN T : Yes, this is a very good contact cleaner. D100 is 100% deoxit (that's why it's so expensive). D5 is 5% deoxit and 95% solvents for flushing out lots of gunk. The problem with solvents is that they can eat away at non-metalic parts, especially with vintage gear, so I stick with 100%. The good thing is that it doesn't take much - a couple squirts on a swab and then wipe your contact points (plugs, jacks, etc). Don't spray directly into a jack - spray a q-tip and swab around in there until you see no black residue. If you are cleaning pots, faders & dials I would use F100 (fader lube). It's important to have lubricant for moving parts. Squirt a little bit inside the pot and turn the knob back and forth a number of times - no more crackles!JUHYUN O : If the static noise comes from connectors, it will really solve your problem. I've bought this for the same purpose, and result was amazing. Highly recommended.ERIC S : If you mean static in volume controls etc. then yes, it's the best stuff out there. You do have to be sure to get it in there good, then turn the controls back and forth to get it on all the surfaces. Sometimes this involves some disassembly of the unit or spraying multiple times......good luck!BARBARA K : This Hosa Contact Cleaner works great. Just a little spray on contacts and noise is instantly gone. This can will probably last forever for me. I highly recommend it.THOMAS B : The product is excellent for spraying conrols and switches in audio equipment. I have used other products and found this to be one of the best.JOHN S : This product does a great job cleaning noisy volume controls and audio sliders on mixers. If they are noisy when you move them this will fix that. Some sort of a lubricating spray should be used after you clean them, such as Hosa F100L-L25C.JAMES B : I really don't know. I think the manufacturer would be a better one to answer that. Sorry.RIKKI S : I do not know. I used it to stop corrosion on battery contacts inside an SLR camera.JOHN G : I purchased this product because an receiver of mine was making a crackeling sound when turning the volume control. This contact cleaner has done what I hoped, allowing me to adjust the volume without the crackling from dirty contacts.CHRISTOPHER O : If removing scratchiness from pots and switches in you audio system is what you are looking for - this is the best fix next to replacing the parts.MEADE F : As stated by others, it is a contact cleaner and a very good one. But, it will get rid of your static only if the cause is dirty contacts.YOHAN L : It really depends. For some vintage pots it works well, for sliders maybe. You will have to test it out for yourself to be sure. Sometimes you just need to turn the pot back and forth a hundred times or so to get rid of the static.MEADE F : I've only used it a couple times. It did everything it is advertized to do. It works much better than Radio Shack cleaner.JEFFREY P : Very good for static caused by switch contact or volume control dirt or corrosion, or jack and plug issues. Not for static from noise on signals or component static.MARK L : I found the product to be a waste of money.CHARLES H : if you are referring to noise when turning the volume or other controls on your audio equipment then yes thisis the stuff you need. I used it in a 35 year old stereo that would even occasionally drop one of the speaker channels when turning the volume knob. Be careful to foloow the instructions. Do not use too much. Only one or two squirts shoudl be all you need. There are reports online about users experiencing problems with this stuff but usually because they used too much. Good LuckFRANCIS B : The product actually works and works .very well. When you press the top it puts out a premeasured shot and does not keep spraying. I use the product in electronics and as of yet have not been disappointed.Deoxit u : What do you mean by "static" ? If you mean the scratching and static you hear in the speakers when you turn the volume knob, yes, it stops that. It's a contact cleaner. If you have an electronic contact that is oxidized, this will clean it and protect it from further oxidation.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?james B : max straightLARRY E : I had a 1.4x converted which was not working.MEADE F : It claimed to do what I needed done. Also the controlled spray.

Save a ton of money

I went to You Tube to see how to clean and refurbish my 45 year old receiver. They recommended Deoxit. I ordered it thru Adorama as they were the cheapest and had it within 3 days. My receiver sounds brand new again. I’m thrilled to death. A friend took his receiver to a professional to get his cleaned and it cost him ($). I cleaned every piece of equipment I have for less than $. Buy this stuff it’s incredible!

Free at last free at last

I have a vintage Harman Kardon preamp. The volume knob became frozen after using a commercial contact cleaner. I contacted the manufacturers of D 100 told them my problem they recommended D 100. I sprayed to spritzes inside the pot 10 minutes later lit was free . This product saved me a lot of money. I highly recommend it and it will be my go to contact cleaner from now on

The best stuff for old stereo's

De-oxit is amazing for cleaning volume, balance, bass, treble and all controls on old electronics that are noisy, or have any kind of bad contact.I use it on all connectors, and it works great for batteries and power connectors on all modern electronics.....This is the strong stuff, they make a 5% spray but this works better.

Seems to have done the job

The speaker switches on my 15-year-old Pioneer receiver were not making good contact. The sound on one channel or the other would frequently drop out. I would operate the switches a few times to remedy this, but this was annoying. After receiving the DeoxIT D100, I applied a spritz of it into each switch and operated them a few times. I did this over a month ago and I've had no further problems with the switches since that time.
