Excellent performance and superb quality
The new X1D with its new lens such as this one performs wonderfully well, smooth, fast and extremely high quality images. All X1D lenses used thus far are the quality one expects with Hasselblad. I have all available lenses and this is the newest and as a macro ? have no complaints just praise.

Incredibly sharp lens. First lens failed to focus after 2 hours of use. Sent back to Adorama. No problems. This present lens I have had for one week with heavy use. Mounts and un mounts smoothly. Focus from macro to infinity is slow. Software for lens allows for narrowing focus range to allow for faster focus in macro. Leaf shutter much quieter than the other XCD Lens. Extremely well built. Wish it was 1:1 instead of 1:2. Appears so far to be an excellent portrait lens.

Versatile usage
The high performing 120mm f/3,5 lens is suitable for both close-up work up to a 1:2 image scale, and as a mid-range telephoto lens for portrait or other photography requiring a longer focal length. Auto or manual focusing is from infinity to 1:2 without the need for extension tubes.
Greater control over the ambient exposure
Like the other XCD lenses, XCD 120mm Macro lens has an integral central shutter offering a wide range of shutter speeds and full flash synchronisation up to 1/2000th second.
