Hoya engineers have developed a new ANTISTATIC coating that acts like a force field around the filter to repel dust. Perfect for environments where dust is common, these filters require less frequent cleaning and maintenance than traditional filters. Additionally, the hardened, antistatic top-layer is water repellent, stain and scratch resistant, and cleans easily when smudges or fingerprints are introduced to the surface. The Protector filter is designed for photographers that only want their filter to protect their lenses and do not require or want any additional filtering properties in the glass.  The new EVO ANTISTATIC professional filters are made in Japan using hand selected silicates that are carefully smelted and blended to yield high performance optical glass. Hoya then uses extreme care and precision to apply the Improved 16-layer Super Multi-coating formula which greatly reduces or eliminates reflections on the surface of the glass and yields a 99.8% light transmission rate. This means the filter has virtually no effect on the color balance, contrast, or clarity of the final image.  The filters features a lightweight, one-piece, low-profile aluminum frame to house the glass. This one-piece design allows the filter to maintain perfect parallel alignment to the sensor plane for maximum sharpness, while the low-profile form eliminates vignetting when used on ultra-wide-angle lenses.

Always the best quality, because why would you want to compromise the performance of your expensive lens with a cheap protector filter?  Regardless of size, I've always been pretty happy with these.

Received the filter in good time and am very glad to have it on my lense.  It's been great to not worry about dust and dirt.

Great Filter

Good UV filter, it is super thin and lightweight. I noticed there's no dust specs on it (due to anti-dust/static property) on the filter after an afternoon out in the field. The front threads allow mounting of other filters.

I bought this as a protective filter.  I use such a filter on all my best lenses.  I was intrigued about the antistatic coating and was skeptical.  It actually works very well.  I collect much less dust on this filter than on others I use.  I’m now a believer!

Protect your lens!

Excellent light transmission and seems to stay fairly clear of dust on its own. I’d give it five stars but in the short time I’ve had it, I’ve already noticed a few hairline scratches on the glass. Not sure exactly what caused those, but it would seem to me that filters of this quality should have a higher degree of scratch resistance.

This is all you need to protect your lens. Doesn't attract dust or smug. Easy to clean. I just leave it on the lens and don't have to bother with a lens cap.

Throw a way your lens cap

Had this for about two months -- haven't taken it outside in the rain yet to see how it performs with moisture.  But the anti-static feature seems to be keeping regular dust off of the filter.

Nicely built product, doesn't appear to impact image quality.  I'm not sure about the anti static being effective it still gets dust but it is very easy to clean.  It's on all my lenses, I won't use cheap filters and degrade quality equipment to save a few bucks.

Solid protection with no loss of image quality

Great product, no image degradation and seems to stay very clean, it's definitely easy to clean.  Fits perfectly, i highly recommend.

I use Hoya EVO Antistatic filters for my Micro Four Thirds lenses and also Pentax DSLR lenses. They've kept my lens front elements safe during travels in hot, humid and dusty places around the world.
