I use this ND filter to capture flowing water shots and I feel like an expert! Together with a polarizer (Hoya HRT circular polarizer/UV filter), some adjustment of my Nikon DSLR's aperture and ISO controls, a sturdy tripod, and a delayed remote or self timer, I can capture perfect cotton candy water shots of creeks, rivers, waterfalls, and fountains. Tried it to capture a sunrise on a beach, but I need a graduated ND filter to darken the sky only, while leaving the sand unaffected. Looks like another Hoya purchase may be in the works. Product works exactly as advertised with great affect.

It has been a snowy winter and we gets lots of sun. The ND filter is great for those extra bright days and also for the soft water with ice and snow pictures I like to take. Great filter.

Neutral Density filters evenly reduce the amount of light passing thru the lens without effecting color.
Ideal for reducing bright light in large aperture situations when a narrow depth is field is needed.
Allows for slower shutter speeds when blurring or showing of movement is desired.
Allows balancing of exposure to highlight a key subject.
Lets you use higher speed films in bright light.
Hoya Neutral Density filters are available in most sizes and in three strengths:
.3 (2X) Reduces the light one f-stop.
.6 (4X) Reduces the light two f-stops.
.9 (8X) Reduces the light three f-stops.
