The HOYA HRT circular polarizer filter uses a newly developed High-Rate Transparency film that passes more visible light through the filter while still filtering the same amount of polarized light.  The HOYA HRT circular polarizer filter transmits as much as 25% more light through the polarizing film giving the photographer about 1/3 stop more light than a standard circular polarizer. This new polarizing film is also used in the latest HD LCD TVs.  The glass of the HOYA HRT filter also has UV absorbing properties making the HRT a combination UV/circular polarizing filter.  The most common use for a circular polarizer filter is to darken bright blue skies in outdoor photography, but they also can reduce or eliminate reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as glass and water. By rotating the outer ring of the filter the change of effect can be seen by looking though the filter or through the viewfinder if it is mounted on a camera.  HOYA is the world's largest optical glass manufacture, making glass to spec for almost every camera and lens manufacturer. HOYA is also the world's largest filter manufacture. 

Trip got cancelled so I didn?t get to use it yet.  But I know it?ll do the job because I?ve used Hoya filters before and they?ve been great products.

Excellent circular polarizing filter. Removes glare from photos of lakes in the midday sun.

Here is a good example of what this filter can do.

Out of the box, on the camera and quick test photos of my dirty car. Both photos with the filter on the lens. One with max polarization and one with minimum. Raw photos, only resized and converted to .jpg to post.

Big improvement over my cheap polarizer.  Colors are more vivid and haze is gone.  With a few step down rings, I can use this on several lenses, which makes the cost affordable.

Works awesome, great price!  Super happy about the quality for the price range.. there?s some crappy filters out there for around the same that don?t seem to do much polarizing.  I got it for a sony 90mm g macro, fit perfect.

Hoya makes some of the best filters on the market. I use it on my 52mm ring size Nikon lenses. Perfect fit and works likes it's supposed to.

Produces excellent results, though it reduces the light level a bit more than other similar lenses I have, so best if used with very bright light and heavy UV at higher elevations.  I achieved excellent results recently in Colorado above 7000 ft elevation, but at lower elevations with less UV, say 2000 ft, I had to either switch to a different polarizer or else push the ISO setting up to 200 or even 400.  So I will hang onto it as a specialty lens for mountain use, but switch to another lens for general use.

Circular polarizer

Using the filter on my Sony video camera for nature videos.  It adds excellent enhancement to clouds and sky and very useful when shooting through lake water etc.

This filter works great on the 70-200mm size 77mm 2.8 but the 82mm on a 16-35 2.8 there is distortion and you can see a vertical line while shooting. The line doesn’t seem to show up in the image but it is distracting while photographing.

Perfect for my needs.  Used to cut glare when photographing glass objects.  Arrow on filter designates direction of light source.

Perfect for quickly getting a shot when sun is blazing on the water. Don’t screw it in too tightly — can be hard to remove.
