Review Summary

Very good filter. Not necessarily antistatic. I still have to blow dust off before taking photos, but I I live in a dusty state.not sure there are any filters that are truly antistatic when it comes to dust. The main use is to keep dust off my lenses. Filters are cheaper to replace after they gradually get scratched from dust and cleanin. All my prime lenses ( several over 40 years old) still have perfect glass because of filter protection.

Optically excellent UV/protection filter. I'm not sure how much the anti-dust coating makes a difference but it makes me _feel_ better.

I vastly prefer cleaning lens filters to cleaning camera lenses. Also, I have lived in rather dusty locations, so the antistatic feature is important to me.

Item is as described by the manufacturer. Good quality build. The filter does appear to repell unwanted air born dust. The filter has not yet been exposed to water nor stains.

Does what it says, appears to be very good glass. I use it on a Canon L series lens and get great color and saturation, no UV washout. Anti static coating seems to work, dust brushes off easily.

Do Not put cheap glass over a expensive lens. That defeats the purpose of a good lens. And Hoya is top notch

I was a little skeptical about whether or not it would be worth the extra money, but the antistatic really works fantastically well. I did some long exposures on a windy day by the beach, and the grains of sand & moisture wiped right off without any smudging, and it definitely helped keep the extraneous stuff off.

This is a top-of-the-line filter. The anti-static coating truly seems to repel dust. I use UV filters to protect all of my lenses. This one is an excellent choice. I now own three of them.

Not only does this filter reduce Sun Glare, but also from those "hot spot" street lamps, for example, if you're into Night photography. It also "doubles" as a Protector. A "must have" item for protecting your priceless lenses!

Interesting filter, I am not sure it is working or not, since it behaves the same as a B+W filter.

The reason I buy Hoya filters is that they come in a SEALED case that is tamper evident. I am tired to morons opening up the case and handling the filter and greasing it up with oils and other bodily fluids from their fingers, and exposing it to dust and debris in the store. Since Hoya seals their product, I can rest somewhat assured that the product is in a somewhat sterile state, or as close to manufacturing state. Other than that, the quality is also nice. The threads catch accurately, and it mounts on evenly and snugly. So far it has not jammed up on me during removal. The rim feels sturdy, and is pretty slim. The bad part is that smudges do not remove easily. They tend to get embedded, or smear when wiped. Also, packaging could always use more sealing, and make tampering even more evident.

This Hoya filter checks all of the boxes I was looking to fulfill. Tested with a NIKKOR 24 - 70mm lens (VR II model) and a D850 body, used alone this filter helped produce much more accurate photos, especially shooting wildlife on both cloudy and cloud-free days. The blue of the sky didn't need heavy post-processing to match the rest of the image, and the clouds were crisp and free from artifacts and blurring. This is not Hoya's strongest glass; that honor goes to the 32 layer HD3 series, however, the 16 layer antistatic filter has proven to be significantly tough during all situations I've put it in, with the active dust and water repellent requiring less hands-on cleaning in the field. This line of filters also tops out among all current Hoya filters by yielding 99.8% of light transmitted. Finally, being fully stackable by having front and rear threads, in combination with it's low-profile, makes it very easy to combine with other filters as well as adding stack caps for protection while stored in a bag.

One of my joys is photographing the coal-fired steam locomotives at Durango, CO and Chama, NM. One frustration has been the amount of soot from the coal engine that finds its way to my camera lens. The soot can be difficult and tricky to remove from the lens or filter. I purchased the Hoya antistatic UV filter (77mm) with the hopes of reducing the amount of soot on the lens. So far I have been very impressed with the filter. The antistatic coating works very well keeping the soot away from the filter. Also the Hoya filter is well built and very thin. Although the filter is a little pricey compared to standard filters, in the long run it is a wise buy.

Filter works fine as a protective cover and appears to impart no changes to the final image. Nice thin bezel ring allows you to see 95% +/- of the front of the lens. During initial use the antistatic feature appears to be no more effective than my other Zeiss filters

I have the original UV filters without the antistatic coating and it really does make a noticeable difference. I am constantly cleaning my other lens filters but this one remains clean throughout the shoot.
