Questions & Answers

Shopper : Does this UV filter fit on Nikon D90? Does the lens brand matter for which UV filter to choose?GEORGE C : This filter [ like any ] filter is sized for the lens, not for any particular camera. I purchased the filter to protect my Sigma lens and to reduce any glare.BRIAN K : Filters are used on lenses. The camera body is irrelevant. When buying a filter, be sure to buy the size that is appropriate for your lens. If you have the 18-105mm zoom lens (a kit lens bundled with the D90), then this is the correct size filter (67mm). I would say that yes, filter choice is important. Cheaper filters may degrade the image, costing you sharpness or introducing an unwanted color cast. That said, I do not necessarily think that--one you are talking this level or quality--spending twice for the very best brand is necessary. This Hoya is a good choice.ALBERT B : The question is not really whether this filter will fit a Nikon D90, because any number of lenses can be used interchangeably with the camera. Make sure that the lens you are using takes a 67mm filter. If so, this filter will work just fine. I use this filter with a Nikon 18-70mm lens, and also have a Nikon 70-300mm lens which also uses a 67mm filter.ALEX P : As long as your lens is 67mm this filter will fit on it. The diameter is usually stamped somewhere on the lens or even the lens cap.EDWARD C : The filter is matched to (fits) the lens, not the camera. Use the mm (67mm, for example) measurement on the lens to choose the filter size. Lens brand is not relevant.JOEL H : The type of camera body should not matter. What matters is the lens you are using. That is to say, it doesn't matter if you have a D90, a D7000, a D800, etc. What matters is that the lens you are using has a 67mm attachment at the end, so you'll need to check the lens(es) you plan on using. Hope that helps!KEVIN D : This is a 67mm filter. It will fit any lens with a standard 67mm thread. It won't, for example, fit the D90 kit lens (18-55mm II) which takes 52mm filters. But there is another size of the same filter that will.ROLAND P : Filter size has nothing to do with the camera. You need to match the diameter of the filter (in this case 67mm) to the front diameter of your lens. Each lens has a different diameter which you can read off the front of the lens. The lens brand doesn't make any difference. Some better filters have multi-coatings but are more expensive.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?STEVE W : Always need to protect the lens.ROLAND P : Everyone should have a filter to place on their lenses and leave there all the time to protect the front element from damage. The UV multi-coated filters don't detract from the basic quality of your lens.

Another winner from Hoya

I use this to protect the front element on my Panasonic Leica Summilux 42.5mm/f1.2 lens. It is well made and does not appear to interfere with the images. It is a very nice product.

Great UV Filter...Just One Downside...

I have a automotive business, and ended up deciding to get a Canon 60D and to purchase this Hoya SMC UV(0) Filter with it...along with a number of other items... Upon opening the package, I realized the lens filter could take a little wipping down-just due to the a few faint lines (looked liked scratches-but they weren't)...nothing serious though... While trying to clean them, I realized they were a PAIN to clean...had to resort to using a dishwashing liquid to clean it to perfection... Also I was impressed witht the metal construction, and the fact that the lens cap fits onto the end on the filter...

Not bad

I was able to get lens flare once regardless of the multi-coatings but only the one time. Overall I think this is a great alternative to the more expensive multi-coated UV filters for people that don't need the best there is.
