Questions & Answers

Shopper : Is this CPL Multi-coated? Thanks in advanceDOUG M : I'm pretty sure it is not multi-coated, it looks like it has a single coating. Now that I think about it I'm not sure a coating would do much for a PL filter as the PL layer would cut most reflections anyway.REED S : The packaging does not mention multi-coating. In looking at reflections off of the surfaces, it does not appear to be, as I don't notice any color shift in the light which would usually indicate MC. It does perform well, though.KEVIN M : This polarizer is not multi-coated. Hoya does offer CPL's in multi-coating. Hoya filters (with the exception of some of the special effects filters) have a coating on both surfaces. Hoya is one of the top rated manufacturers of filters and you can not go wrong with any Hoya filter. For most amateur photographers, you need to consider your intended use of the filter and see if the higher priced multi-coated filter can be justified.FRANK M : The Hoya CPL filters are not Multi-Coated. The Hoya Multi-Coated filters have a designation of HMC.JAMES S : Package doesn't say and I can't remember what the description said regarding multi-coating.. Using this filter on a Tokina 11-16 UWA and also with an adapter (77-72) on my 18-200. Seems to do OK with my D7000.JEREMIAH K : I don't know. But, if Adorama says it is, it is.ROBERT S : The Hoya filter that I purchased is not multi-coated. Hoya does have multi-coated filters available...much more expensive for multi-coat.
Shopper : Is possible buy the filter by a credit card, and send the filter to Brazil? How much is?SHAYA T : We do not ship to Brazil at this time.

Hoya Circular Polarizing Filter

I've owned this product in the past, and I trust this brand. It met all my expectations as a repeat customer. It's not the best in the world but does what it's supposed to do in its price range.

Excellent Filter

Since I just managed to break my knee I haven’t had a chance to use the filter too much , but the few photos I took before my accident came out very good. (Submitted one) All colors were natural looking and it removed exactly the amount of reflection I wanted. Good filter for the price.

questionable

I was surprised at when I received the filter, the glass was very dirty. Either Adorama sent me a used one, or it came that way from Hoya. With some difficulty, I did manage to get it mostly clean, although some of the film may be between the two pieces of glass. The images I have taken after cleaning it have been good.

Works great on Nikon D5500 standard lens

I needed a polarizing filter to use for an upcoming trip by the ocean and islands where bright sunshine would be an issue. Although I have not tested it at my preferred location, I did test it on bright sunny objects in Southern California. Satisfied so far.

For Rough Bumps and Intense Sun

The Hoya Alpha 67 has a deep outer ring for your cap and is VERY rugged, BUT. Be careful of: 1. Possible vignetting with very wide lenses 2. Light reduction by 2/3 EV. 3. Pretty much all or nothing polarizing. 4. The HRT CIR-PL UV is often comparably priced and is a much more refined tool. Alpha is happiest at the beach!

Really Hellpful

I know nothing about cameras but wanted to buy my Wife a filter for her camera. I called and got tremendous advice and service. I have purchased a camera - my Wife's - and a laptop - also my Wife's (I own nothing) - in years past.

Fine Filter

Although this is just a filter, as important as these are, I found this Hoya to be thin, easily threaded and at a reasonable price.

GOOD QUALITY, REASONABLE COST

Hoya makes excellent filters (and some beautiful crystal vases and decorative items). The only reason this is 4 star rather than 5 is the somewhat thick/bulky nature of the filter. But equivalent quality in a thinner filter would have been much more expensive.

The Hoya CPL did a good job to reduce reflection and unwanted lights into camera. I am pleased with the reliable service of Adorama.

Hoya makes the best filters for my money

Hoya makes the best filters for my money. I have used Hoya filters for 66 years. I had the same filter made in China and the threads were poorly made and did not thread on the lens I bought it for. I threw it in the trash.

Works fine but...

It is definitely does what it's advertised for but it's not of the same quality my other polarizer from Hoya. A little disappointed. It also seems to remove a couple stops of light, a bit more than the other, but that's fine given I'd be using this in bright daylight.

Fantastic quality CPL!

By Ryan

I bought this filter after having disliked the Pro1 series from Hoya because of the difficult getting them perfectly clean. The HD series solves that problem. Most marks can be wiped away with any cloth with little effort. Corners can be cleaner up later. The filter mount is very thin lending itself to work well on wide angle lenses. The rotation is smooth and feels very high quality. I love the HD series so much I wish they offered them in ND filters as well!

Expensive but worth it!

By MARK W.

I had recently purchased a Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 and needed new filters for the 77mm size of this lens and my Tokina 12-24. After shelling out that kind of money for a lens I wanted to get the best filters I could afford. I've used many Hoyas over the years and have always been impressed with their quality. This one is no exception. The construction quality is superb and is much thinner than other polarizers I've used. Though I've not logged much time with it yet, the images seem very crisp and...

Light rays which are reflected by any surface become polarised and polarising filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens.
• They allow you to remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass etc.
• They also saturate colors and increase contrast.
•Polarizers come in two variations but have the same effect. Linear polarizers work with older camera meters; Circurlar polarizers are designed for today's newer split-beam metering systems used in auto focus cameras. Check your camera's manual.
