Questions & Answers

VENKATARAMAN S : Is this a slim filter and will this cause vignetting on a 17mm lens ?
Shopper : In the name of product is "Hoya 77mm 8X (0.9) Neutral Density MULTI COATED Glass Filter" but in thre item description is "Coating: Single Coated" !!!? :(ANDREW R : Filter is offered in two model types, one is single coated the other is multi-coated.
Shopper : can adapter rings be used with this filter to fit a 58 mm or 50 mm lens or do I need to buy more filters?TY F : I am not sure.ANDREW T : I bought the 77mm to 58mm adapter ring with the 77mm Hoya neutral density filter. It works fine.BOB C : I do use a reducing adapter to use a larger filter on a smaller lens and it works ok for me.CHRISTOPHER M : I'm pretty sure you will have to buy a new filter. I've never heard of adapters for screw-on type filters.LEO D : Haven't tried it.LEO B : Hello, I am not sure if you would be able to use reducing adapters to adapt from 77 mm to a 55 mm lens. I can imagine you would have some disadvantages on the edges, but whu not just hold the 77mm filter against the 55mm lens when you need it? In most cases your camera would be on a tripod anyway when using the filter? LeoRICHARD C : Yes. You will need to find an adapter ring in the right size, or alternatively, get multiple rings to get to the target size in multiple steps. One benefit of this approach is that you might be able to use multiple larger filters on the same lens while only having one filter element (the adapter ring) being the same size as your lens. This will reduce vignetting compared to if you use only filters that are the same size as your lens (i.e., it will reduce the "tunnel" effect that multiple filters can impose). Note that using a larger filter will in effect make the end of your lens larger and will thus inhibit use of standard lens hoods. Also, if you're going to leave the filter(s) on the lens for a while, you might want to consider purchasing a larger lens cap.DAVID P : I buy all my filters at 77mm, and use adapter rings so I don't have to have filters at different sizes. If theres an adapter ring for 58/50mm to 77mm then yes you can use this one. I have a 58mm to 77mm adapter ring on one of my lenses and use this filter on it often.

Great ND filter for the money

Seems to be of good quality for the money. I have used it once as I just got it but what I used it for was to photograph Football players posed with flash in bright sun and it enabled me to lower my sync speed to 1/200 at F4. Camera (Nikon d750 with 70-200 2.8 lens) had no problem auto focusing. In post production no change in sharpness or color.

Great four-stop ND filter

I found this four-stop ND filter to work extremely well. Highly recommended for more sophisticated landscape shots with moving water and other applications where motion or bright light is to be manipulated.

Clean crisp day time with my inspire 2

Wasn?t aware of brand recognition at first but I must say this is a GREAT tool Esp combing a circular polorizer on a drone. This size fits the x5-x5r-X5s. I have it on the latter but they are all the same Lumix I mean DJI 15mm stock lens. I love it. Clean. Neat. And makes shooting in the brightest of day a breeze.

Bright day shooting are longer an issue

Wow, I love filter! My camera shutter speed is maxed out at 4,000 and this filter not only gives me high quality images with no distortion or weird colors but it also brings down my shutter speed from 4,000 to around 320 @ 4.0 in the middle of the afternoon on a very bright day with no exposure compensation.

Good for the price

This is a decent filter for the price. Does a good job of reducing light to allow a slower shutter speed for blurred movement.

Very high-quality filter for the price!

This filter is clean and pretty close to neutral. Doesn't dampen image quality and makes it possible to photograph or shot video in bright conditions with a good aperture.
