I’m surprised, really. For under ($) this thing is great value for money and very, very good quality! I needed a tripod that could support enough weight (with a decent margin above that) for my slider and DVX200 rig, that together is probably over 25lbs. I didn’t want to spend big $$$ since this tripod would only be used as part of the slider rig. It’s worth it, and probably more! The locking mechanism is really slick, adjustable mid-level spreader, really good quality. I don’t doubt that it will hold up a 25lbs rig, and well over double that since it’s rated at 80lbs. The downside, it’s a bit heavy – more so with a good size head on it - so don't consider strapping on a backpack unless you don't mind packing the weight. And it doesn’t go as low as some others. But I have other tripods for those duties. My main reason for buying was for weight bearing capacity, rigidity, ruggedness and to use with my slider and the thing works freeking great! Only wish they included a case with it, but for the price that’s easily forgiven. If rigidity and weight bearing capacity is more of a priority than light weight and overall portability, then I can highly recommend this!
