Does block out light pollution but also some of the light from the stars. I live in heavily light polluted skies

I use on the Sony 20mm f/1.8 for capture of the Milky Way. This filter is for getting rid or control of artificial light during the night. For me, I capture along the coastal areas of Florida and Georgia that use amber lights along the ocean areas for turtles. Using this filter gets rid of the orange lights glow but lets through the normal tan beach, green leaves of trees, blue ocean and those great colors of the Milky Way with a light blue sky.

I live in the Houston Metroplex area and have a major problem with light pollution. I bought this lens for my Nikon Z50 50-250mm zoom lens to help with the problem and I am not disappointed. It does a good job of cutting down the pollution though it does not do away with it completely as I would expect in Bortle 8 skies. For the price I got what I expected and would definitely buy it again.
