This is a great addition to anyone's macro photography toolkit. Is it applicable for every macro subject? No, but it's the ideal tool for some subjects. The ability to focus-bracket is enhanced by this rail, allowing for very small, controlled incremental adjustments to the focus plane. I've captured many manual focus-bracketed images, but inevitably miss areas of focus with that method. This tool, especially when combined with the focus-peaking feature of my camera, makes it possible to ensure that I've captured every plane of focus I desire for a given subject. I could not be happier with the results. This is my first experience with such a tool, so I'm unable to make any comparison with alternatives, but I did purchase this one after a bit of research that led me to choose it. If you shoot focus-bracketed macro of static subjects, especially if closer than 1:1, you should try using this rail.

Solid construction, no twisting. Easy to smoothly adjust the position of the camera The top clamp is also easy to move 90 degrees using the smaller bolt; there is no need to loosen or tighten too much. The screw in feet can be easily removed and stored in the box the rail was packaged in. I do not use the feet since I use the rail on a tripod.

bit pricey. worth the price to performance compare to $50 macro focuing rails. the screw is precise, which allows for very very fine adjustment. only wish is a quick release for the screw to quickly move up and down the rail, instead of, turning the screw for an eternity.

This focus stacking rail is very solid and sturdy. It is compatible if you have an arca swiss style tripod head, so you can do your stacking from any height, or angle. It will make a very useful tool to your arsenal of professional products. It gives you the ability to make micro adjustments to take multiple pictures and stack them to get more in focus. You may also use it on a table top type of set up.

The NISI macro focusing rail provides added perks others sell separately. The removable feet, the 360 degree rotating clamp and the micro adjustability of the rail met all of my needs. I would recommend looking at this as a quality purchase.

Smooth operation and sturdy rail. I will always have it attached to a sturdy tripod. I don't ever see myself using the little legs. Great for focus stacking your macro shots.

Well built and precise. I?ve no use for the little feet but two of these focusing rails at right angles provides precise control of the point of focus for extremely shallow depth of field macro photography. Highly recommended.

It is well made and the lead screw mechanism is precise. The ability to rotate the quick-release mount is convenient. However, they have added gimmicky features like the feet, and the crank turn-knob is bulky with the potential to be blocked in tight quarters. It doesn't add much mechanical advantage compared to the simple knob on the opposite end. I find the Sunwayfoto a more elegant design. For example, it's crank turn-knob is mounted magnetically and can be changed to either end of the rail or taken off completely.

This is a well constructed focusing rail with smooth action for focus adjustments in Macro Photography. All metal construction. While it has four (4) removable peg legs for standing up, I think it will work best when mounted on your tripod.

the focus rail was just what I expected. The legs are not necessary. I feel it is safer to put the camera on a tripod.

Recommended by Mike Moats so tried the rail. Looks like a nice product. Well built and feels l9ike quality. I wish the threads were such that 1 turn equals 1mm, but I just use 1 or 2 turn increments. There is also a light grease on the center thread that looks like it will collect dirt, but some brake cleaner will remove that.

Originally purchased the Flashpoint macro rail because of the price. While the FP rail is certainly useable and budget friendly, the NiSi rail is superior in all aspects. The movement and controls are much smoother. The mounting options for camera & tripod are, alone, worth the extra money.
