I have tried several small lights like this for on-camera use...mainly for video and this one is my favorite. First, it is thin and lightweight. That is a must, especially when shooting video. I have put this on a light stand and used for a fill light when shooting an interview or as a single light when wanting a more moody vibe. It also works great on camera in the hot shoe for shooting event video.
The frosted front cover delivers soft light that is flattering and not blasting your subject. The other key for this light is that is is bi-color from 3200k - 5600k. That is super convenient. Quite a few other lights in this category provide you with a plastic cover to put over the light to "adjust color." This light has an LED display to show the color temperature. It is also dimmable from 10-100%.
This light takes a single battery and it is a smaller, low profile battery but last a long time. I have shot events and weddings with this light at approx 30-50% power and one battery lasted the entire time (~6 hours).
In addition to being light, the size of this light is perfect and fits nicely in my camera bag. This has truly become my go-to small video light for fill, events and weddings.
