The guitar arrived well packaged in good condition; there was a small issue but I will touch on that later. I have used an Ibanez ajd91 for about 12 years, and I love it. This guitar is not as nice as the ajd but serves a different purpose. For the price it is great. The action is decent. The pick ups are so-so, but you can still get some good jazz tones. It is ready to play out of the box if you aren't replacing the strings like I did-but don't forget to remove the packaging foam from under the floating bridge. Also, if you aren't used to floating bridges there isn't a manual provided to inform you how to set it up. Just double the distance from the nut to the 12th fret and place the bridge there. Confirm the placement by playing harmonics on the 12th fret. I'm only taking a star off because my guitar arrived with the high e string broken. I had already purchased some flat wounds to replace them, but I can see how it would be a letdown for someone planning on playing stock strings.

From its debut in 2002, the Ibanez Artcore Series has become a hallmark of quality and affordability, captivating players across blues, country, rock, and jazz genres. The AF55 model, a standout in the Artcore Series, offers a hollow-body electric guitar experience that combines vintage aesthetics with modern playability.
Crafted with a linden top, back, and sides, the AF55 resonates with a warm, acoustic quality, making it an ideal instrument for those seeking the classic hollow-body sound. The body is finished in a Tobacco Flat color, exuding an understated elegance that appeals to traditionalists and contemporary players alike.
The guitar's neck is carved from nyatoh, known for its rigidity and tonal consistency, and is adorned with a bound rosewood fretboard. This combination not only enhances the guitar's sleek appearance but also provides a smooth, comfortable playing surface for effortless fretting.
The AF55's bound rosewood fretboard is meticulously inlaid with white dot position markers, ensuring clear visual guidance as you navigate through your performances. The fretboard's binding not only adds to the guitar's refined look but also contributes to the durability of the fret edges.
Equipped with Infinity R pickups, the AF55 delivers a versatile range of tones suitable for a variety of musical styles. From clean, articulate jazz tones to the growl required for rock, these pickups offer reliable performance and sonic flexibility. The guitar's user-friendly controls include a 3-way pickup selector switch and dedicated volume and tone knobs for each pickup, allowing for precise tonal shaping.
The AF55's Artcore neck profile is designed for comfort, making it easy for players to transition between rhythm and lead playing. The guitar's sustain and tuning stability are further enhanced by the ART-ST bridge and VT60 tailpiece, which work in harmony to maintain intonation and resonance.
This model's attention to detail extends to the practical aspects of playability. While it arrives ready to play, seasoned guitarists will appreciate the floating bridge's adjustability for personalized action and intonation settings.
In summary, the Artcore Series AF55 Hollow-Body Electric Guitar is a testament to Ibanez's commitment to producing instruments that blend traditional craftsmanship with innovative design. It's a choice instrument for those who demand quality and affordability, without compromising on tone and aesthetic appeal. Whether you're laying down smooth jazz lines or cranking up for a rock gig, the AF55 is poised to deliver performance that exceeds expectations.
