OK bass after some serious setup love, I had to: Fix a loose (rattling) tuning peg, shim the nut, file all of the fret edges (thank goodness I had the right tool and experience with fretwork), re-drill the string tree screw hole so the spacer wouldn't rattle, tighten the nuts on the potentiometers, and reposition the control knobs, and of course the expected adjustment of the truss rod, and adjustment of the string height and intonation. 6 hours of messing with this thing and it finally plays pretty well, not sure if I would do it again or recommend it to others.

A great value and it was set up really well out of the box. These Talman basses look and sound great and the price can't be beat.

Almost sliced my hands open on the frets when I went to pick it up. They are incredibly sharp and unfinished. I read this can happen when the neck dries out but they are really bad and sticking out. Ended up ordering some tools to file them down but they still don't feel correct. The paint job is not good quality and the knobs feel cheap and easy to break. Sounds ok as long as I don't cut myself.

Guitar player who finally got to first bass. Very fun to play around with. A little top heavy. Color is good and mustardy, but not too mustardy. A sound that makes you go "yep, that's a bass." Came with a 9-volt battery for the active EQ. Arrived all set up, just needed some tuning. Finer adjustments might come later. Been using it to play Rocksmith, record demos, and wear in front of the mirror.

The second stack, positioned closer to the neck, houses the volume control on the top and the pickup balancer on the bottom.
