You can plug this charger directly into a wall socket. If you scroll down under "over-view" you will see "Fold out Prongs On Rear of Unit" as one of the features.

Skip the Item

This battery charger was designed to charge several different makes of batteries. I bought it for a Nikon EN-EL 11 battery. It takes some exact positioning to get the anodes to match so the battery will charge and the battery must be shimmed to keep it in place. I think the device is poorly designed and I regret that I didn't spend another few dollars and get the original charger.
