Shopper : cannon products are new to me. i just bought a cannon printer and need to select an inkjet photo paper. what is the experience with the semi gloss plus photo paper. what is the quality of the image? what about archival quality and paper weight? herbEDWARD C : I've only recently started using this photo paper so can't talk to archival quality. Images are great, in my opinion. I like it because it takes the "shine" off that you see in glossy/Hi-gloss photo paper.JENNIFER G : Hi Herb, Personally I love the Semi-Gloss from Canon. It is my paper of choice when I do prints at home. I used to use the Glossy II but the Semi-Gloss gives the image a much more polished look in my opinion. It's a similar look to a luster paper you may use with an Epson printer. In regards to you other questions, I have not used it long enough to judge the archival quality. In regards to the paper weight, it is not as flimsy as Kodak (which feels like printer paper to me), but a nice sturdy photo quality paper. I hope this helps!LYNN O : I use this paper often with my Canon Pro 9000 printer and am very happy with the results. The image quality and color are excellent. I generally keep my prints in albums and have not experienced any degradation in the prints made in the last 5-8 years. As for archival ask me again in 100 years, but so far so good!JON D : Personally, I LOVE my Canon ink jet photo printer. I have one for home and business. I use it to print pictures AND in store flyers because the text really POPS on photo paper. I was initially hesitant to try after market inks for the printer but the costs were so astronomical for Canon inks that I had no choice. It's been about a year and so far so good on that front. The only thing about the semi gloss vs. Glossy paper is I really like the look of the glossy better. I think that would boil down to personal taste really. Both papers are excellent and heavy weight (45lbs for glossy... 69lbs for semi gloss). I couldn't speak to archival quality but from what I've read they are excellent. Hope this helps somewhat.GARY W : Hello Herb. I have a Canon i9900 printer and an HP Officejet 6700. I have purchased both Canon 8.5x11 and 13x19 semi-gloss photo paper and I am extremely pleased with the image quality and weight (light card stock). Matte paper has poor image quality and Gloss has great quality but is too shiny for my purposes. I am a professional artist and I print all of my oil painting images on this paper for framing and selling on the retail market. As for Archival Quality- I have not seen any references made that this paper meets that criteria. Direct contact with Canon would probably be in order. I hope that helps answer some of your questions. BTW- Adorama has the best price that I have found and they ship hassle free. Great Photo Paper

Coupled with the Canon Pro 10 printer this paper makes exceptional prints. Strong colors, good contrast, gives your image extra snap. Definitely would use Canon paper again

Top notch paper!

I will only print on Canon paper. I shoot with a Canon camera on Canon glass, then print on a Canon Printer (Pixima Pro 100) with Canon Paper and the color consistency and vibrance is unparalleled. If you're making large prints, don't get cheap paper. Canon is top notch!

Nice paper that produces rich colors

I like the texture of this paper, it produces nice rich colors , and they are not too shiny and light reflections bouncing off the paper are at a minimal, if any.
