I bought this camera specifically for land escapes and night photography knowing that full frame will yield high quality pictures and low noise at low light. The camera in general, produces high quality pictures. However, there are two major concerns: dust sticks on the sensor fairly easy, even if you do not switch lenses. Dusts gets there by just zooming in and out the kit lens (24-105 L mm). It seems like the kit lens acts as a vacuum pump. Cleaning the sensor represent a challenge if you do not have a lot of experience doing it. I sent my camera to Canon for cleaning, and three days later the sensor had already dust particles. The second concern is the poor performance when used wide filed/ fast F-stops. At low light conditions, most of the wide filed canon lenses and second brand lenses will vignette significantly, to the point that pictures will need cropping. Software will help to decrease that at expenses significant noise increase at the corners. Of course if the lens is not wide open (around F8), performance will be ok and the only problem will be the dust.

My 20D broke and I was very sad...until the 5D came...I wish it had broken sooner. I had a customer mention the first set of pics taken with the new 5D...she said those were really awesome..what did you do differently? If a customer notices it is good. We went ahead and ordered another for my daughter.

I feel like this camera has become part of me! I never consider it cumbersome or a bother to take anywhere as the pictures are always a reward. I love the full frame CCD! It was a whole new world when it arrived! The only complaint is that there is a lot of noise at a high ISO but that is the same for all cameras right now. I believe they are working on that issue... until then I will not need another camera.

This is the D-SLR that I have long waited for and is in a reasonable price range. The kit lens will cover most of my daily work and the 5D teams up perfectly with my EF 180 mm f3.5L Macro USM, MP-E 65 mm f/2.8 1-5X Macro and L series telephoto lenses. The controls are similar to the 20D and are quite easily mastered. I am working on a set up with the 5D to digitize thousands of my 35 mm slides. The full frame 12.8 mP sensor will facilitate this endeavor and with good resolution.

If you want to go WIDE then this is the camera for you. Though the lens is only f4 its still relatively quick. The lens is great for group shots and work in tight places and yet long enough for portraits. If you want to shoot sports you will need a longer and faster lens for best results. This camera doesn't come with a ton of bells and whistles so I learn to use it pretty fast, but it has everything you need to take GREAT pics. This camera gives great color and low noise. This camera is a bit heavy with good glass but worth it for the quality pics you can get. The battery lasts long. You will not be disappointed.
