Questions & Answers

Shopper : I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one?JESSICA H : This is an excellent camera, and the kit provides a huge savings. If you look at the individual prices of the included additional battery and CF card alone, you will realize the savings!ELIZABETH W : Start with the 5D and go from there. My package did not include the 50mm. But I do own it and it's a great lens for the $. The Adorama package prices can't be beat. I could live without the slinger bag, as it's really too small for anything more than your 5D and one lens. Have nit used the production bunke yet, but will have more time in the new year to 'play'. The service by Adorama was great. I chose free shipping both times and my order was delivered within the week!THERESA R : i thought it was a good price for everything included in the kit....you have to watch some of the others, the battery and the charger may not be canon. I know a lot of people that buy from adorama, heard nothing but good things. i love this camera. well worth the money... i already have a 50 mm f1.4 that I use all of the time.LOIS A U : I went to a wedding and was talking to the two young wedding photographers. They explained all the cameras features and the couple of drawbacks. They then let me handle the camera and examine where all the buttons were , how it felt in the hands, how the pics looked and the way I could expect the camera to perform, for me. I wanted very clear photos and easy to work with--without having to replace it often. This camera was the preferred one that their (the photographers) school used. Its predecessor was a real work horse in the photo wedding trade. I am not taking photos of sporting events or wild animal action pictures. I want ease of use and clear pics. I then went on line and looked at all the cameras in the same price range. I checked the comparisons as to what I could expect from the various cameras and how they were built. I decided I wanted a metal body for durability. I chose the EF 50 mm f/1.8 standard lens as the first lens because it is basic. I will add additional lenses as needed. After I received the camera my husband said it reminded him of the durability of his film based nikons.I A very nice camera. I would buy this camera again,it does all the things, I was looking for and a few I have to learn about.AMALIE O : I purchased this because I was upgrading from last camera. I love the full frame and the great pics from this camera. The only problem I have found is the "soft" center focus. This is a great deal for a body, lens and extras!FRANK C : I bought the 5D MII for its resolution and high quality performance at high ISO. I don't do much, if any, sports photography, so all the discussion about the alleged focus limitations didn't affect my decision. And as it turned out, these were mostly exaggerated because in practice the focus capability of the 5DII is more than adequate for almost all my work. This camera is a really fine instrument that delivers outstanding results. If you're not a professional, but are still serious about photography, you can get professional results from the camera at a substantially lower price than the high end Canon. Weather-sealing would be nice to have on the 5D II, but that's not an absolute necessity either. I would say that you will get the best results by using the best lenses on the 5D II, and I'm not sure the 50mm 1.8 falls into that category.JO ANN T : I have used Canons Rebel Series for years and wanted to upgrade to a full frame camera After extensive research, I chose the 5D Mark ll for price & the quality. I'm really pleased with the image quality especially when combined with the L series lenses. If you ask anyone who uses the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens they will tell you that, though not an L lens, it's the best deal in the world of lenses - I couldn't agree more! It is tack sharp and great for portraits and low light shooting. I chose the package deal Adorama offered because even with the items I didn't need - the camera bag & the battery grip - the package price was just a bit above buying each item - camera body, SD card & extra battery - separately. I know professional photographers who love the 5D Mark ll and use it more often than their pro models. The 5D is also making it's mark in TV and Film; Its use for filming the subway scenes in Black Swan and shooting the season finale of House speaks for the quality of this camera.STACI S : I have used Canon for years. I just used up one of my 40d's and it was time for an upgrade. I need a real work horse camera and wanted to move into a full frame. Pros: Extremely durable. Exceptional quality. jAmazing images. Huge upgrade! Cons: slower fps than I'm used to, a good bit heavier. other note: I still haven't tried the video. Can't seem to figure it out. Just need to slow down and play with it, I guess.WILLIAM A : Cost was a factor, but the quality of the pictures was the deciding factor. In RAW mode the quality is superb. Even at ISO settings of 400 or 800, there is little or no noise in the photo. The IS lenses do a great job in helping to obtain a sharp result. I have enjoyed using this camera.XAVIER B : This is by far one of the best bargains you'll ever get. On BH the price of the actual 5D( just the body) has dropped to 2,000 so when you think about this package for around 2300 and you get an extra batter, Magic Bullet, and a CF card. You can't beat this!MICHAEL J : Didn't need a new lens, liked the combination of stuff in the kit. The CF card really put it over the top. That said, I heard that B&H had a better deal now, $1999 for the body with a couple of other things added along. Might be worth a look.
Shopper : When would this deal end?ROBERT D : This is perhaps Canon's best SLR ever. Read all the reviews its simply awesome. I use a canon 24-70 "L" series on mine but of course any lens you prefer will work nicely. The card, bag, battery are extras that make this especially attractive. I would highly recommend this camera and the package with it is fantastic. Great memory card. Good luck, BobJAMES S : I can not answer that question but you can trust Adorama for low prices. I have two 5Ds and love them, you will not be disappointed if you want professional results and are used to full frame cameras. I would not consider anything else for my use with studio still life subjects as it is simply the best with is full size sensor and custom user settings and Adorama is the best place to shop, best price, fast shipping and reliable service. James
IVAN Y : Can I just buy the camera unbundled? How much?DOUGLAS W : yes, for $2,399. I bought the kit that only includes the camera body (no lens), extra battery, memory card, and bag and I've been very happy with the purchase. This was $2,325.Benjamin H : Yes Adorama has it unbundled for two thousand three hundred and ninety nine dollars on rebateDAWN W : you can spec it out but the camera and battery and memory card when i looked at it weeks ago definitely made this a much better bundle - HATE the camera bag, i have to disassemble the camera from the lens to fit it in this bag and the bag quality is really cheep - i live in PA and it would never withstand our cold days w.o cracking, but i gifted it to a teenage friend and they love it btw, i know all the rage is the full frame sensor but I love my 7D and wish i'd gotten a second 7D over buying this body

Great condition, everything works

Bought a 5D II labeled E- condition. I would say it was underrated. I can't find a mark on it. It looks brand new to me. So far everything works as expected. Looking forward to many years of use.

5D Mark II

I bought a Canon 5d Mark ii with a 50mm f1.8 lens six months ago and have absolutely loved this set up. The mark ii is an incredible tool for both photography and filmography. I am mainly a photographer, and have felt as though the camera has enabled me to more fully carry out my creative vision. The full frame sensor allows me to produce crisp images even in low-light conditions. I have even shot pushing my ISO to 6400 with negligible noise in dark conditions which is rather remarkable. As many others have pointed out, the autofocus feature can be a bit finicky. Yet, I mainly use manual focus so it doesn't affect my work much. If I am using autofocus it usually works as desired, but occasionally I have to play around with it a little bit, not a big deal. Also the DIGIC 4 Image Processor allows for quick processing with excellent attention to detail, color, and reduces image noise. This camera packs a hard punch, and is a video powerhouse. This camera includes full 1080P recording capabilities, and with this I have been able to produce professional grade films. This camera i 100% worth the investment and is considerably less expensive than it competitors. If you are debating between purchasing the Mark ii and the Mark iv i’d go with the ii any day.

My First Full Frame

This is my first full frame dslr camera. Bought it used in good condition. Stepping up from my Canon T3i and a 7d...so far the low light pics I've gotten with this camera have been what I was hoping for. Great detail, color, and just excellent all-round quality...with using just a f/1.4 lens I get good full images while there's enough detail I've been able to heavily crop some of the pics and retain their quality.

CANON POWERSHOT SX520 HS

First let me say that the service was superior; I got my camera within 2 days! Also: I LOVE the features on this camera and it's ease of use. The only thing I'm not satisfied with is the fact that I haven't even had it a month and the lens quit working so I have to send it clear across the country for repairs so I'll have to go through camera withdrawals for approximately 2 weeks until I get it back. If the camera was older, I'd give it a higher rating...but it's practically brand new and already has to be sent in for a manufacture error. Other than that...It's a really GREAT camera!

Great deal!

I was given money for a new camera and was able to purchase a used one from this site at a great price. I use my camera for portraits and weddings, have rented the mark ii before and loved it. I was anxious to see what condition it was in and I was pleasantly surprised! Minimal wear!

Great Camera

This camera is great in just about every way , there are a few things i would change , the 9 point AF , im not sure why in the world there is only a 9 point AF system in the 5d mark II , this camera deserves so much better , the other small thing is low light shooting , it is ok , but a lot of noise past 1600iso , other than that , depending on your lens and i recommend using a tripod unless your very stable , you get super sharp images , and the camera just feels great , yeah a little heavy and bigger than your beginner dslr , you feel like your holding a great piece of equipment , im upgrading to the 5d mark III for the extra's , but i shoot professional portraits , and i need the extra things the mark III has , if your coming from a rebel or other amateur camera , start with the mark II , get to know the camera , and see if you need the extra stuff on the mark III if you dont the mark II works great

This Demo made my year!!

I have been waiting to get this camera and I'm so happy that I did. At first when I heard it was a demo, I'm not going to lie, it made me nervous, but it's perfect (and it didn't hurt that there were less than 3K shutter clicks on it either!!) Very happy with my purchase; Adorama is always my go to store for all of my gear.

Oh my.

If you're in the market for this camera, you probably don't need me to sell it. It is a thing of beauty. I was using an EOS 350D before this, so admittedly it was a big jump up. But the image quality on this is superb. Beautiful light gradients, color tone, and richness of image. The AF is a little lacking, but I hear they fixed that in the Mark III. Doesn't matter, still buy the camera. The lens in this kit is fantastic. A nice large diameter lens, great, crisp images. It may not be the best lens in the L series, but it's still an L lens. Excellent combo to use with the Mark II.

MADE FOR A PHOTOGRAPHER

Having spent twenty years with film and Leicas, making the change to Digital and Canon was a bit of a rethink. After trying some Rebels and D's, I decided to go with the 5D mark II. I have found the 5D to be well made with features for almost any photographic situation. The weight and hand fit is very workable. This camera is simple to set up for most assignments. It will focus fast in any setting and with a fast lens (f.2.8 +) low light is a piece of cake. I have been shooting in RAW, mostly with a 35 mm f2.8 and 24--105 f 4 and find the color and B&W to be right on. The sharpness of the image is truly outstanding. The 5D's with some lens combinations and a speed light are a great photojournalist set up. I am still getting use to this camera, but the 5D Mark II seems to like me.

Its Borderline Cinema & Great Photos Too

I also own a 60D that utilizes EF and non EF lenses. However, it appears the 5D makes the best possible use of the EF lenses as the images appear even stronger detailed when it comes to the photo side of the camera. In terms of the video, the EF lenses also compliment this effort as well. For those of us that are familiar with using 35mm cameras in fully manual mode, it is an interesting way to shoot video, if you like that sort of thing. This mode also gives you full creative abilities, including the ability to shoot in black and white.

This is the camera you are looking for!

Went with this over the Mark III, because it has all the features I need, and was slightly less cumbersome than the Mark III. It is a great camera. I am using a 100mm macro and an 85mm prime with it, and the shots come out beautiful. It's a great portrait and outdoor camera, and does excellent in low-light and also in cold temperatures. Battery life seems reasonably good in cold temperatures too.

Worth the $$ !

I've owned Canon's 10d, 20d, 30d, 40d, 50d and 60d. I finally bought the Mark II since they are so reasonably priced right now and I couldn't be happier. It's focusing capability is amazing, the quality of the images are much better, and I'm happy to finally be working with a full sensor. Best of all, it does amazing work with my 580EX II, giving me perfect flash lighting!

Still an excellent choice

I made a decision to move into the world of digital photography some years ago, shelving my film based cameras for the flagship full size sensor Canon 5D. I've had no regrets with that decision. Recently I decided to make a move to the 5D mkII and again I'm very pleased. What I like most is that I have not had to "re-learn" the camera's functions layout. If the days arises when I can justify investing again my choice woul without doubt, be the Mk III. It can only keep getting better.

WOW RESOLUTION

By DIRTWATER

I been shooting photojournalism with a EOS 1D-Mark II for several years and purchased the 5D-Mark II, basically for the portrait and landscape resolution factor. 21 megapixels are absolutely amazing for making quality large prints. I just did a panorama of Alaska's Denali Range by shooting ten verticals and merging them in Photoshop's CS4 and the grass blades in the foreground to the summit of Denali are beautifullly crisp, have perfect contrast and if there were climber's on the mountain, yo...

One Big Problem

By Larry

I have Used Canon systems for 35mm for many years including going digital some years back and have several bodies and a number of lenses in the bags I carry with me at all times. I have always had excellent results from both the camera's and lenses, and still do. I also carry a Canon XL-1s for video work, or, I should say, I used to. Now that I include a 5D Mark II I only add the XL-1s when I know the conditions will require it. I am a fire department photographer and on a pager 24X7. When a ...
