Matt S : Hi Everybody and thank you for all the answers. I also have had good experiences with Adorama. While these answers are influencing me towards a Canon, and they are informative, I don't think I am clear in my question (not unusual for me unfortunately). This is for the the 60Da (not the 60D). It is specifically designed for astrophotography. The astrophotography specific camera is missing a filter to make it more sensitive to a wavelength of light prevalent in nebula. If you take the 60Da out in daylight and use it, how does if perform? Does this missing filter affect the images that a standard everyday user would take (people, scenery, etc)? I hope to get an empirical answer.SUNGHUN C : The 60Da works pretty well in daylight and everyday use. I've tested it again my D7000 and it holds pretty well in terms of white balance. The only difference is that the camera will pick up just a bit more red color. Not really that noticeable to me unless you compare with another camera side-by-side. You can buy an IR filter or obtain a manual white balance prior to taking your pics in different lighting but I don't think that is really necessary. The filter on the 60da lets more alpha-hydrogen that a IR filter in most cameras but there still seems to be some sort of IR filter which allows everyday picture taking without alot of work on the user's part. From the reviews and pictures I have gathered in astronomy forums, it lets in a little less alpha-hydrogen than say a third-party modified filter but doesn't have as much white balance issues.Matt S : Thank you Edward F. That is exactly what I wanted to hear. Matt S.EDWARD F : Excellent, no need for custom white balance.CHARLES H : The filter is not missing in the 60Da, it is only designed to pass more of the deep red Hydrogen Alpha light before it starts to reject the infra red light. All DSLR need to reject infrared light because it can pass through all red, green, and blue sensor filters and spoil the color balance. I have not found daylight photography to be a problem. You should be able to adjust white balance in the camera or in post processing with software if need be.
Matt S : I am new to the market for a DSLR. I do not want to buy one for standard use and another of astrophotography. How is the EOS 60Da for standard photography? I am not new to telescopes. Just to DSLRs.CLARK S : Matt, I am still learning ALL the features of Canon 6D. All in all, it is an incredible DSLR camera and I don't think you'd go wrong. Canon photo software is good (I use Google Picasa for most editing) and in my opinion Canon line is at the top. It has a lot of the features we like. Fairly easy to use - we do a lot of sequences to pull into HDR software. Not sure what other cameras you are looking at. We stick with Canon because we already have a number of lenses. ChuckWILLIAM R : I have been very pleased with the 60D...I still have a 50D as well. The video option, although I do not use it all the time, is very good. I actually used it last night, hand held at a carnival ( I do their website) and got some great video clips. The still images have been excellent (of course a lot depends upon the lenses you use). This is my 5th Canon DSLR. It is probably my 10th Canon. Both Canon and Adorama get high marks from me.JON D : I understand macro photographers steer AWAY from the 60D because there is some vibration when the shot is taken, even in live view. I suspect that would influence astrophotography also.

Great camera

It is my third Astro-camera. Wish they made this in 2009, it would have saved me from buting two other cameras. Love the design... very low noise images... the swivel LCD is a Back-Neck saver.

Camera performs very well on deepsky.

I use it for astrophotography. Great performance at even ISO 6400. Fabulous battery life. Brings out the Red in nebula far better than my previus Canon 50 D.

Great bundle at a very god price

Love the camera great step up from a rebel xsi, the controls are easier to use and quicker to get to. The shutter is fast and takes great low light pics. The bundle at the time was cheaper than the body alone. The people at Adorama are great Jacob in the resale department was great. They purchsed my rebel and I applied it to this sale, very easy! Overall excellent experience

Great bundle at an awesome price

This was a great deal, some extra goodies at a lower price then the body by itself. I upgrded from a Repel XSI and I have to say the experience at Adorama was excellent, the people I dealt with in the resale dept (Jacob) and the Customer service people were all extremely professional and prompt. They gave me a good price for my XSI and applied it to my new purchase it was all very simple.

60D Very Satisfying

Years ago I owned and used several film SLR cameras, I just bought the Canon 60D and am very impressed with it overall. It is fairly easy to use, has more features than any photographer could possibly need and takes excellent, clear and well focused photos. As an old SLR user I'm having a bit of a time adjusting to the auto focus, but it's fast and quite accurate. I also bought a Canon 28-135 USM and a 75-300 Canon lens with the camera and so far have absolutely NO regrets. Adorama provided great prices[...]. Thanks you guys!
