Questions & Answers

Shopper : Hi Is this refurbished or new in box box open?GLENN H : The camera comes in a canon box clearly marked as refurbished. The lens and camera have worked flawlessly since I purchased them. GHSCOTT S : This camera is refurbished, but comes "like new" in box. You really wouldn't know the difference. I actually like that it has gone through a second round of inspection and quality assurance.BRANDON D : Refurbished. Mine was like brand new.STEPHEN K : When I bought mine 2 years ago, it came in a white Canon box that had "Refurbished" printed on it in red. This means it is factory refurbished, and not an open box special.
Shopper : is the lens AF?RYAN R : YesLUIS C : Yes, it should be, although to tell you the truth, I always shoot manual focus so I never used it in Auto focus. Sorry!CHRISTIAN G : Yes, it is on mine, but should confirm with Adorama that it definitely is. I'd be 99% sure it is.JINWOO L : Yes and also has IS
Shopper : Concerning range, what would be the closest one could be to a subject with this lens?HAI L : The other option is the 18-200 lens, image quality won't be great.TIMOTHY H : 18 inches.JOHN S : I took photos today at a dog park in the area of 1 ft. Not sure of the technical answer, but the auto focus wasn't working so I backed off a few inches and got the shot. Manual focus? Don't know, the pets were moving too fast for that.

You won’t be sorry

I purchased my 60D new in 2010 when I got switched to digital. In 2021 it has well over 200k clicks and still going strong. It’s been a work horse that’s made me a lot of money. The swivel screen is great for odd angle shots and makes using a remote release s breeze. Shots are sharp and the colors are true.

Super nice camera

I bought this camera in 2010. It still works marvelously. I used it all the time and have just starting doing astrophotography with it. Very versatile camera. Although a crop sensor, the body can accept the nice L lens. Uses SD cards which are very common.

Canon Forever...

I bought my canon 60d in November 2011, but in October 2016 I had an accident in a lake, my camera was completely wet, it was totally unusable. But, I read on the internet, that if I put it in a bag with rice and left it a while, it sure worked. Well, I put it in a bag of rice, and put it in a drawer. Honestly, I forgot all about it. After 5 months, I remembered the camera, I took it, I cleaned it, I put a generic battery that I have, and voila ... my camera is working !!!!!!! I am very happy I did not lose it, because with that camera, I have been able to develop my tourism business, making captures in the tours that we do. Thanks Canon, for making good quality products.

A Great Step-Up Camera

I used a 10D, then a 30D and was thrilled with both but this 60D is easily the best of the lot. It fits my rather large hands better than the Rebel T3 I also owned for a couple years (the T3 is a great beginner camera that I give five stars to and is therefore more comfortable to use. The 60D has a much better viewfinder than a Rebel and better focus points. Noise level is low throughout the ISO range. Image quality, of course, is excellent. I love the flippable viewing screen. My only complaint is that Canon decided to move away from the Compact Flash card to the Secure Digital format cards. I guess to make it more amateur friendly. Anyway, this is a great camera.

A really good overall camera.

I bought this camera new May 2012 and it has performed flawlessly since. The flip out screen is very nice for awkward angle shots, the shutter is quiet (quieter than my 70D and the 9 point autofocus is fast very accurate. Autofocus via live view uses contrast detect and is quite a bit slower but accurate. Exposure metering is very accurate and plays well with my Canon flashes. (580 EX II, 420 EX and 270 EX II) The IR wireless slave flash control is very useful. Does not focus like a camcorder when shooting video. Need a 70D, 7D MkII or Rebel T4i or later for that. (See my 70D review). Ergonomics and menus are very good. You can repurpose most of the buttons on the back too. Uses "multi controller" as opposed to a joystick on previous xxD models. Nice fit for my hands and my wife's who inherited this camera when I got a 70D.

Great all around camera

I bought My 60D 3 months ago.Brand new to me and I have not regretted the money well spent, The egonomics for one are good for someone with large hands, the grippy texture helps to hold the solid heft of the camera with a 70 to 300 EF lens at work..this is no studio queen..this is out of doors, on the field and in the weather. Never fails. Ive two lenses..the mentioned 70 to 300 and an 18 ro 135 EF-S. Beautiful captures in extremely low light conditions, If you work your craft, get to know the Camera, you will not be disappointed with the excellent results. Lightning shots, stars, eclipses..all are in your grasp. Sunsets are an extreme joy to capture in full manual mode. Colors are rendered faithfully as you desire. In full auto mode, it is easy to get the wow factor shots as well. Video is a wonder as well. Need a Black and White movie? Why yes, again, in full manual mode, you can. There is only one drawback.. A monaural mic. That is easily rendered moot by adding any stereo mic available to be kitted to the 60D. Shoot both Jpeg and RAW, single and both at same time. This Camera will go where ever you are ready to go..when you are ready to go. The Battery life of the OEM battery is amazing! As for bumps, and bruises..sadly i dropped it last week. The material is physically discolored..that is it. The Camera works perfectly, the fall was onto the floor from the center console of a 11 F 250 onto the rubber floormat..a distance of around a foot. It may not sound like much...but it did impact, and still works. I would recommend this Camera to everyone.

My favorite camera so far

This is my 4th Canon SLR and I love it! I got the 60D when it launched and I have not been disappointed yet. It's a little heavy, but I expect that in a good product. I use it for weddings, portraits, landscapes, macro, travel, sports, everything. It goes with me everywhere I go. It's easy to use, there is a ton of different functionality so you can personalize it to your needs. Paired with the right lens you can capture absolutely amazing photos. I am more than pleased with this camera. I am sure there are bigger and better out there, but for the price and options it's a great investment!

Just OK

I was forced to purchase this after my 50D broke and by that time, that model was discontinued. My biggest gripe witht he 60D is the mirror shake. I do a lot of macro where the detail and sharpness really count and more often than not, the image is not crisp from the mirror vibration. It's on a tripod and I use a remote shutter release. There should be no blur. It's terrible in low light situations, producing very noisy images. I also don't really know why Canon is such a big fan of the HD video. Unless you're doing interviews where the subject is stationary, it's pretty impossible to take usable video on this because while there is autofocus, it is not constant and is very slow. Canon, you should just stick to pictures. If someone wants video, they'll buy a camera specifically made for it. Despite the gripes, I have been able to get some pretty decent pictures. The movable screen has helped in a few situations where I needed to put the camera over my head and needed to compose my shot or if I was on the ground taking a picture of a flower at an upward angle and couldn't look through the viewfinder. Overall, I'm disappointed with the performance of it. This camera definitely wasn't worth what I paid for it. I can't wait until I can afford the 5D Mark III.

Fantastic camera

I personally enjoy the physical body of this Canon camera over the other cameras I own. And the adjustable display screen is also an extremely useful tool to have while filming or using a a tripod. Overall, I am quite satisfied with this Canon product so far!

Great camera

Even though I just got this camera I love it. There are so many features that it is not an easy camera to learn but my experiences with using the XT, XTi and Xsi have smoothed over the edges. I wouldn't have wanted to come into this camera cold. Before I actually got the camera I downloaded a pdf of the users guide. This is one of those rare times when I would advise anyone interested in this camera, or any of the advanced Canon EOS cameras, to READ THE MANUAL.

Excellent product!

I recently received a Canon 60D for Christmas, replacing my Rebel Xti. This camera is brilliant! My favorite features include the ability to shoot in low light situations with ease, and the ability to shoot both jpg's and RAW in one shot is amazing! That battery power is also amazing. I spent two weeks on a Caribbean cruise, and took well over 250 shots, and still had half the battery life left. And the shots were crystal clear, using my two Canon zoom lenses. Thanks, Canon, for a fine product. I can't imagine why Canon has stopped production of this camera!

Very nice

I have had this camera for a couple of years now and it has never let me down. Speed and stabilization is great. I am not a camera geek and can only tell you the pictures are wonderful. Any bad pics have been all my fault. Does more than I ask of it. I have never been happier with a purchase. It has also taken its share of beatings - although I have not dropped it from a height. I carry it in a backpack and tend to throw it in my car when I am on the go. I hope to save my money for a larger lens to take even better wild life pictures. All in all, could not be more satisfied.

Why should I upgrade to a 7D Mark II?

I started out my Canon camera purchases with point and shoot models when digital cameras first came on the scene. My first DSLR was a Canon xsi. I really feel in love with that camera and shot many thousands of shots without a problem. Many of them turned out so well I entered several in contests and they at least got published. Now I was a committed Canon fanatic with my EF compliment of lens, I decided to upgrade to a 60D. I have had this camera now for about three years and have shot thousands of photos with it. I just love this camera! The quality of the photos I take, even cropped and brought into LR and PS are simply amazing. I am now in a position to upgrade to one of the newer Canon models. As a member of Kelby One when I saw Scott Kelby review the Canon 7D Mark II, I almost bit the bullet and decided to purchase one for myself for Christmas. I liked how all of my lenses would fit the camera body and the fast shutter speed and low light performance almost got me hooked. Then I started getting more serious about the purchase by looking at the features of my 60D vs the new 7D Mark II. First of all, I didn't like the fact the 7D doesn't have an articulating monitor screen. Next I didn't think I really needed that much more speed in burst mode vs my 60D that I have found very acceptable. Lastly, I know it must be great to be able to shoot without noise in the much higher ISO setting with the 7D, but is it really worth me to upgrade at this time. The final conclusion is my decision to stay put with my trusty old 60D and perhaps put my money into a couple more lenses. I really wish at least Canon had put the articulating monitor screen on the new 7D Mark II. I use mine a lot, especially when I shoot video and get in a position when the camera fixed screen just isn't going to allow me to see my shot.

very happy with this!

Just recently bought the refurb'd 60D. Already extremely happy with the purchase. I'm upgrading from a T3i. Everything from how the camera feels to image quality is better. I know both cameras have the same sensor, but the 60D images are still better than the Rebel's. First, the camera fills my hand better and feels more balanced. Second, I love the more choices for ISO selection. Third, even though there are still only 9 focus points, they are all cross type points on the 60D. Fourth, looking through the pentaprism viewfinder is so much nicer than on the Rebel, and the focus points are a lot more visible. Also, when I preview a picture on the LCD it highlights which focus point I used. Last, and this may sound weird, but the shutter sound on the Rebel just sounded kind of cheap and "chirpy". I really like the way the 60D sounds and it also has quiet mode as well for sensitive situations.

A wonderful DSLR camera, mediocre to poor support utilities. Love learning more about my 60D, however on a Mac, EOS version 2, the photo transfer program, has an annoying "feature". Every time you manually run the program it insists on re-installing itself in the Mac's bootup "Login Items" list running in the background whenever the mac is booted. This degrades OSX reliability, is a security issue...yada yada and is not what this user wants EOS to do. It can not be disabled in EOS preferences, forcing the user to enter System Preferences to manually delete EOS from the Login Items list... every time... a pain. Looking for a replacement photo transfer program and will inform Mac and photography website forums about this program's un-user-friendly behavior. Otherwise I love my 60D and have carried it on travels to 3 continents.

Canon is the best

Since I've been using my Canon EOS 60D, I've always shot Manual, Raw, and on a Tripod; shooting with this Canon gives you all of that and more. The operation of this camera is very easy (just remember to read your manual and shoot every day; controls are logically placed to where they are most convenient to the photographer to use, even while looking through the viewfinder setting up the shot. The resolution given by the 18 mega pixel sensor is outstanding (it definitely shows in the work I've done in school with this camera). With this Professional Canon camera you can't go wrong.
