Review Summary

I was sent a free Canon printer in exchange for agreeing to write a review. The printer I am reviewing is the Canon MF753Cdw II printer. Overall the printer was very easy to set up. The most challenging part of the set up was getting it out of the box since it was a bit heavy for me. Once the printer was in place, the actual set-up was quick and easy. Understanding the touchpad was easy and finding my network was as quick as 1-2-3. I would say the most challenging part was the scanning feature. The instructions were a little unclear but once I googled how to scan, I didn't have any problems. I scanned many documents and all of them scanned well and I was impressed with the speed of the scanning process. Also, the print speed and quality are top-notch. I was very impressed. I have been using the printer for my home use. The duplex printing also worked well. I enjoyed using the duplex feature since it does save me paper especially when I am printing drafts of documents to review first. I used wireless printing from both my iPhone and my iPad. Printing from both devices was fast and easy and I was able to find the printer and print immediately. I had no challenges with the wireless printing. I will use this feature a lot. I really like the fact that I can print from any room in my house. In summary, I am extremely happy with this printer. It meets all of my needs and gives me the quality I am looking for and then some.

I received this Canon printer for free in exchange for agreeing to write a review on it. So far, my experience is mixed. The setup wasn't that easy. The printer doesn't come with a manual- you need to go online to do a step by step setup, which wasn't that straighforward and only connected successfully to one of my laptops and to a smartphone. My other laptop is giving me error messages when I try to print. The scanning feature isn't that user friendly either. The black and white setting is not dark enough and the color setting did not allow me to scan into a multi page document. I consider myself tech savvy enough to set up new devices and have not had issues like this with any electronics in the past, but perhaps this is still user error? The print quality is sharp and professional-looking for both text documents and basic images. Print speed was faster than I expected for a home printer and easily met my needs for both personal use and small home office tasks. Pages fed consistently, and I didn't experience any paper jams during testing. I'm sure once everything is figured out and working properly, I will be very happy with this printer.

Key dislikes so far having replaced an HP Officejet with this printer. I use in a home office so not a high volume users. The paper tray only holds 250 sheets versus a full ream at 500 sheets and without a visual window on the tray, there is no indicator when the paper is low. There is an optional 500 sheet tray but at $250 seems expensive-I would pay $75 but guessing they are looking to get that money business. customers. I wish the scanner bed fit a legal size paper but the work around is to use the document feeder. Airprint works great. Colors and print of black and white looks good. I have not tried photo paper, but photos in business documents are good but if you do a lot of photograph printing and need high res and super color accuracy I would not use this printer. One of the reasons I choose the canon laser was the availability of third party toner over the HP-who has locked down what toner you can use. When I see a set of toner cartridges costing as much as the printer from the brand I just can not afford that cost. With Canon you can get a full set of generic high capacity for under $100 which is great. Three year warranty is nice as well. I do feel the layout of the options and apps on touch screen could be better. Startup from sleep mode is about 15 seconds. I do like that it is quieter than the HP officejet was and takes up less space. I use the wired network connection and gave it a static IP and name via the menus with ease.

I purchased the first-generation imageclass MF753cdw when my high-volume HP inkjet died on me. Interestingly, I paid less for this machine than I did for the HP. This machine really meets the test. The very few times we have experienced a paper jam, the printer immediately locates the paper and shows us how to remove it. The color is absolutely gorgeous, and you never have to wait for the page to dry. A few days after I purchased this machine, I went back online to buy the optional large paper tray. If you print I volumes, it is definitely worth the price. As a side note, when I went back to get the larger tray, I noticed the machine was out of stock, and it stayed that way for months. I thought I had bought a discontinued model, but the fact of the matter, as explained to me by a Canon customer service person, was that they sold out very fast. I'm glad to see that now there is a second generation of the machine. My only COMPLAINT about my machine has to do with the touchscreen. It is not very sensitive, even when using a rubber stylus. Additionally, the fonts on the screen are small, and it is easy to select the wrong option. Nonetheless, I highly recommend this machine for a small office, workgroup or home use.

Printer squeals and makes too much noise, not sure why. Have previously owned a Canon and did not have these problems

I purchased this in June. It started to squeal when printing and I contacted customer support and they had me take out the toners, put back in. It was doing ok until the next day when it started squealing again. I called customer support and they sent me a refurbished one. I had problems getting this one set up and spent close to an hour with customer support setting it up. That was 5 days ago. The refurbished one started squealing again 2 days after it was set up. Today, I called customer support. They are sending out new toner along with another "refurbished" printer. I assumed when I purchased a printer, I would have a good quality product. This will be my 3rd printer. This all takes time out of my small business that I don't have. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER!!

Very pleased. The downloaded driver works well. no need for the pcl or ps drivers. One very big difference between this and an older xerox 6515 is that the initial power draw does not dim the lights! The power requirement listed in the specs is a little misleading, but technically correct. An ordinary 15-amp outlet works just fine. Print quality is excellent. The warranty is very good. I did purchase the extra 2-year warranty as well because I have had trouble with xerox scanners not working just after the warranty period. Setup was not difficult.
