Loved until printer cartridge got stuck

I have had great success with my Selphy cp1200 printer until my cassette stopped and jammed. Now I can’t get it out. I have searched the internet for suggestions on how to unjam and to no avail, not working. I want mine fixed. I loved it til this happened and it sounds like it is a common problem. ease advise anyone If you have had resolution to this same issue. Thank you.

Will stop working

Used a few times without issue, then all of a sudden stopped working. When it turns on, the Canon logo stays on the screen and nothing happens. Can't turn off unless you unplug. Can no longer print, essentially a paper weight now. Apparently this is a very well known issue that many people have had and have been unable to repair.

Easy to use crowd favorite

I brought this to a couple parties this holiday season and it was a crowd favorite everywhere. So easy to use. Had to be restarted a couple times in order to connect again, but even that was quick.

Works great until it doesn't

Worked really well and had fun printing photos, lasted about 1 year and now it just says the paper size does not match, or the paper jams in the printer. So now it's broken. The app is also pretty awful. Would not recommend buying this.

flawed product

have had it for awhile sitting on the desk waiting to be fixed. two major factors are every time you power the unit it forwards the thermal color cartridge one photo, eventually the color sheet catches inside the printer drives and will not advance nor are you able to remove the color cartridge; the second portion is the photo paper will not feed correctly from the tray and the unit will say the photo paper is incorrect. there is no solution i have found for these errors. I have returned the unit to canon and they send another back but never a solution is had.

FLAWS

Has problems detecting paper when there is clearly paper in the tray, but this leads to my major issue with this thing. any time there is a glitch where it says it can't print a photo, despite using no ink the catridge just skips over that unused ink to the next one. I only detected this when wondering why we had all this unused photo paper building up. I broke open the ink cartridge to see what was going on, and there it was unused ink in between parts where it was visible that photos were printed. This is a major flaw in the design, and unethical to say the least. Also problems with the CP1300 printer as well, although that one isnt as bad as the CP1200.

So/So Printer

I have had two of these printers, and each time it breaks down after a few short weeks, not worth the money. My new one would not pick up the paper to print, then the ink cassette gets stuck, cannot remove it right now. Move on to a better quality printer for photo's

I do not recommend

I bought the SELPHY CP1200 Black Wireless Compact Photo Printer to use with SIMPLE BOOTH. The ink cartridge/paper jammed and got stuck in the printer and there was no easy way to get it out. I ended up having to pry it out and it ruined the entire ink cartridge (there are no ink cartridges to buy separately so once you use all the ink in a box, you end up with a lot of photo paper left over and yet you have to buy another box of ink and photo paper. This happened the first time I used it at my Son's graduation party. Luckily it was at the end of the party and it had worked well up to this point and we had a great time using it. I was totally grateful for that.

Printer Will Stop Printing Beware

I bought this printer and haven't even used up one pack of paper and ink cartridge cassette yet and the printer will stop printing in the middle of printing. I called tech support and they had me turn of the power, unplug the cord, take out paper tray, and cassette then press power button ten times. Then I had to wait a minute to turn it back on. Once everything was back in place, I tried printing again and it did the same thing. His reply was it is malfunctioning. Since I do not have my receipt, I am out of luck. So keep your receipt if you do decide to give it a try. That way when yours dies on you you can return it or send it in to repair. They offered me to send it in for repair as long as I pay for repair. They do not stand behind their product. If they did the would fix it. Like I said I haven't even used one pack yet so buyer beware with this product.

Wonderful, but attention: slow of mind...

I was considering products on Amazon and loved this printer due to the print size being that of 'standard' photo prints (4 x 6 and the low cost of cartridge and paper supplies/refills. The reviews were standard, mostly positive, some negatives, but there was one negative review that had me vexing... It showed a 'faulty print' that was void of color, save pale yellow. It looked like a bad unit was sent to this individual. It gave me pause and I spent an addition few hours reconsidering other options. Obviously, I went with the Canon Selphy 1200. I am beyond glad that I did. As it turns out (This is the part for the slow of mind), the pale yellow is the 'first pass' of the normal functionality of the Selphy. It prints the photo, pulling paper through the front of the machine, out the back, and the first pass is 'yellow'. It pulls the print into the machine and the second, third, and final fourth pass is the glossy finish? I forget what order the colors go in, yellow is first, and the final, fourth pass I have always assumed was gloss. I cannot say this is the absolute truth as to what is done in the fourth pass. I can promise you this: leave the Selphy alone while it prints and you will have perfect 4 x 6 prints. And if you are too eager, and interrupt the printer during it's normal operation, please do not post online and blame the product. Just reread the instructions, give it another go.. maybe call tech support.. But when I saw my first pic print in pale yellow my heart sunk! Within fractions of a second later, when the Selphy continued doing what it was supposed to do, I smiled and reveled in my ability to print photos to my heart's content! Again, this little wonder-machine prints in four passes, so do not pull the photo out of the back of the printer. When she's done with her job, your pic will be in the tray, in the FRONT of the Selphy.

Useless little printer

I recieved this for Christmas with a new camera. I printed 3 pictures Christmas Day and nothing since. Today when I tried to print a few very important pictures it says I am out of ink. This is crazy. I would add a photo of how unhappy I am but I am out of ink. At this rate photos cost somewhere around 10 bucks a piece.

Works Great

Bought a year ago. Has served me very well. Great for small pictures. Has worked well with apple and PC. Only issue is wish it could make larger images like 5x7.

No available ink cartridges

The prints are fine but sometimes you may have an ink cartridge fail and you will eventually end up with loads of paper and no ink cartridges. The ink cartridges are not solf without paper so the problem is insoluble. Don't buy this printer.

no good print from iphone.Expected more from Canon

There are only two options from iphone app. You can't change type 1,2,4,8,index, shuffle from the iphone. Selecting from iphone should ALSO allow select multiple photos. The menu navigation is not that intuitive. Lack of instructions how to use menu and it's options. What is 2 fixed size vs 2 up? I selected shuffled, turned it off and on, confirmed that still in shuffle and it did NOT print one paper with 5 shuffled photos, instead printed 5 papers one for each photo. App on android works diff than iphone. I am really thinking to return it.

Borderless prints

Shame, it's a good idea, colors are great, but if you want a borderless print, it enlarges it, some prints can look blurry. If you don't print the photo on any other printer you make not see the difference, may not care if you do see the difference. Still trying to decide if I'll keep it. Also, seems 4x6 is slightly smaller than HP 4x6. If the kinks were fixed, I might recommend. Price of paper a little pricey. Also, no where does it state that editing a photo can only be done from a SD card or camera connected, can't edit or make a make a print with 2 or more pictures, even passport size pictures can't be done directly from a phone

Great printer

I really like this printer, but only buy with the battery. I got this as a portble field printer and use my photo ink jet printer for larger and high quality prints. It's a bit bulky and heavy but leaves other portable printers in the dust. I particularly like being able to insert an SD or micro SD card and getting a print. This makes it compatible with almost all digital cameras, not just cell phones and those with wifi and bluetooth. It combines thee best of digital photography and instant photography.

Great quality pictures

The SELPHY CP1300 Compact Photo Printer is great for people like me who love to take pictures. Photo printing sites are an extra step I almost never take. Having this printer is quick and convenient way to print out pictures as soon as I take them. The quality of the pictures is great! I was able to print out some awesome pictures to hang in my classroom. The paper is thick and holds up well. I was sent this as a free sample to use as a review, and I really have had fun using it. It is simple to set up, prints out the pictures quickly, and is small and light weight. My only hesitation is the cost of the picture paper, in the past I have found that this can get expensive.

Printer and Company Top-Notch!

I purchased two of these Canon Selphy printers from Adorama. One had a defect issue. Adorama was tremendous to work with on setting up a return for exchange. So glad I purchased from them and will do so in the future. Wayne D.

Had an older Canon Selphy that worked like a charm. This connection to iPhone is impossible. Don't buy this unless you're an IT engineer.

An Absolute Pain to Deal With

I got this as a Christmas present. I'm relatively good with computers, but I can't get the thing to connect to my wifi. When I connect directly to the printer, the app can pull up very few picture folders on my phone, and the majority of the pictures I want to print, won't. The app says something along the lines of "the images you selected have printed, however some were not printed" even with just one image selected. You'd think that this printer would be able to accept more photo file formats than it does, it that the app would at least come with a file converter so you could print whatever you please. Overall, definitely not happy. Downloading pictures from my phone to my computer and printing on my HP inkjet is 100x more convenient than spending hours trying to get this thing to print ANY single photo.

paper tray

I don't know if others have this problem. When the paper tray gets down to 4 photo pages left it tells me it's out of paper. No amount of jiggling will print the photo. It's very annoying especially when you are printing a certain amount and do not have an extra package. Can someone tell me how I can use the entire package up before having to put in more?

Awestruck

This printer was given to me as a gift for my 70th birthday. I'm not super tech savvy, and I was a little nervous about setting it up, but I read the directions, it went very well, and when I printed my first photo I was almost breathless. It was beautiful. The photos come out perfect: good clarity, rich color, excellent paper quality, and all right at my fingertips. It is a joy to use. I originally set it up to use with our Sony laptop, Windows 7, and it works like a charm. Today I had a photo on my iPad I wanted to print. I figured I'd have to go through a new setup, but thought there was no harm in just hitting the download icon and in a few steps the print icon, so I did. To my amazement, my iPad asked if I wanted to use the Canon Selphy. And that was it. Hit the print button and a wonderful family photo was printed right from my Facebook library. I just love this printer.

Just received today. I have only been able to print 2 pictures from my iPhone. Otherwise it is busy or does not accept data. I was so excited when I ordered only to have regret tonight. Can't return so I am stuck with a worthless product.

Great Printer !

I did not purchase the printer for typical consumer needs, I use it for an automated photo booth, and other events. I have yet to have a single issue with this printer and have ran through over 2200 photos through it. Just last weekend someone wanted extra copies of a photo I printed for them at an event, I had already packed the gear up, so sent them the original photo and they went to Walmart to print it. They told me that my print quality blew Walmarts away! Very happy with my purchase

surprising clarity/blows Polaroid zip away

By AshleyDawn

I bought the Polaroid zip printer & snap instant printer camera before purchasing my Canon1200 (and I'm a Nikon girl so I felt a bit like a traitor having Canon in the house. From months of research & debating the zip was my choice for portability purpose plus I use wallet size in my scrapbooks, but the clarity & color is horrendous. I was about to buy the Canon 910 after dissatisfaction with Polaroid when I noticed the new 1200 model and decided the price difference was too minimal not to go...
