Much better than off-brand chargers. Charges relatively fast, has indicators that tell you what percentage of the battery is full, and comes with a nice long cord.

Charger came today 6-23-11. Charged right up no problems and I don't expect any. I did'nt think I would like the new design, but I do. Nice long cord, for those hard to reach plugs in hotel rooms, ect.I still have the one my 40d came with, but I wanted a back up,which never hurts. Thanks

Lost prior BP 511 one piece battery charger, only one now available is this recharger which requires wired connection to charger. This unit works very well, wish Canon had kept prior model in lineup.

All the reviews are correct in how quickly it charges batteries. It is worth having the spare.

I got this to use at work for the two cameras we use here for cases in the lab. It makes it easier to to keep everything charged up and unattached to power cables.

I like that this product charges my camera battery faster than a lesser brand that I own.

I have two BP-511A Batteries I use with a Battery Grip. I wanted to be able to cut the charging time in half by using two chargers. Instead of having to charge the batteries one at a time. Since the charging time could be about an hour or more per battery. I took two new unused batteries, and used this charger for one, and the charger that came with the camera for the other. Both batteries charged at the same time. One differance to note, is this charger doesn't plug directly into an electrical outlet, it has an extension cord that plugs into it.

I have used my charger only 4 or 5 times. It is new. But is dead. I don't know why but the led don't light and charger don't charge my battery.

[...].the fact that I needed to purchase a new one after less than two years of use with the first one indicates that the quality is rather poor. The contacts no longer worked properly.

The original charger that came with my Canon dSLR became unreliable. (I've heard of other owners having similar problems.) I chose the Canon replacement to be certain I'd have 100% compatibility with my batteries. It works perfectly. [...]price was an extremely good bargain.

This portable battery charger can accommodate one BP-511 or 512 Battery Pack. Input voltage is AC100-240V and recharging time is approximately 90 minutes.
