I have had this scanner for about 2 months. The photos scan quickly and quietly. Great quality. It is a little large to travel with but worth the effort. Would purchase again without hesitation.

I recently got back into film photography and my first few rolls that I had developed I also had the film scanned. This gets expensive so I was looking for a good scanner which would allow me to scan my own negatives. In addition I have hundreds of old photos and negatives that I would like to preserve. The scanner does a great job and is easy to use. The scanners come with guides to hold film or slides which make scanning relatively easy. The only drawback to the scanner is that there are virtually no instructions so learning how to use it at first was a little challenging. However, there are a number of YouTube videos that provide all of the information you need.

I saw 9600 dpi, thought YES.. then read on to see max 4800 dpi for anything but film option and thought ok, 4800 is great for anything, so I bought it. Even with latest updates, both turned out to be false. 4800 is the max scan, via the film choice and max 600 dpi for everything else. I don't want a pdf, I do image editing. Their software has nothing designed for a fast easy dpi choice scan. I don't care if the image is 3x3" or the entire glass cover to scan, I want 9600 or at least the 4800 as the info page states I should be able to get. (For document types other than films, the maximum resolution is 4800 x 4800 dpi. With terabytes of HD storage, size is not a problem. Canon FAILs me again.

See attached screenshots for following. I have not attempted to use my scanner since upgrading to mac OS High Sierra. I am using the latest version of the driver, IJ Scan Utility, I have configured the utility correctly, and I have set up the scanner properly. Now, the scanner makes 10 passes and the results are what you see. When I attempted to use the latest version of the MP Navigator EX 3.1 app, I encountered an error message indicating the the driver was invalid. After exchanging emails with Customer Support, to no avail since they did not take time to read all, I am now going to contact online support. At this point, although I am a huge Canon fan (I own many products), I cannot recommend this scanner. Not because of the hardware but because of the fragile software. FWIW, I've worked in IT for many years and am very familiar with packaging, etc.

This Scanner works precisely as advertised, the Scan Gear Software that's included works very well and renders high quality images. Highly recommended, it won't disappoint!

Canon EOS camera software has downloaded smooth and effortlessly for me. This software on the other hand was very problematic. No clue as to what was downloaded. I fought with in constantly to no avail. Color slides that look great in my slide viewer then scanned only come to one way with the CanoScan 9000F, dark and noisy. A lot of work is required to get the scan from horrible to slightly horrible. Same results on both MAC OS and Windows 10. I'm now out the purchase price of this pice of junk. It's to big for a paper weight so I can see no alternative but to junk it. I'm now very reluctant to continue my patronage of Canon. Hugely disappointed.

What do you do when you have a bad UBS chord when you got the product in the mail. Do I have to go stand in line at Best Buy again? If the chord don't work the scanner don't work.

Easy to set up with a Mac computer. Great quality scans (35mm color negatives, and printed photos). Always happy with canon’s products.

It only scans 1 strip of negatives correctly. When I switch them then the other strip scans correctly, so it is not the negatives itself. Basically the "top" strip does not scan the way it is supposed to be. Disappointed!!

I was very pleased with this scanner until I upgrading my mac os from Yosemite. As soon as I did, all of the "one button" hardware options were disabled and apparently Canon has no intention of addressing this. Also, the software that comes with the scanner is very difficult to use, so much so that I purchased Vue Scan, which made the process a lot easier. Buy with caution, and know that the "one touch" button features may not work for you.

This scanner allowed me to quickly scan and catalog thousands of black and white and color negatives and slides that would otherwise have gone unseen. I quickly scanned all at a low resolution then went back and rescanned photos of interest at higher resolution to share with friends from the past. Great scanner and software.

I bought this scanner this summer and originally wasn't using it much. We'd just received about 6 boxes full of old slides and negatives and I had the best intentions but not clear timeline. Fast forward to the last week and now we are moving and I have no intention of taking those boxes with me. Now I'm powering through and I'm so impressed with this scanner. The picture quality is plenty good enough for what we want (to access and share all these long forgotten pictures) and the scanner itself is very intuitive. I love that the plastic attachments make each slide scan in as an individual picture in the desired orientation. So far I'm happy scanning slides, film, and printed pictures.

I got this scanner to scan old family slides. I looked around at all the options and this one seemed to fit my needs the best. Because I am very new at scanning old photos and slides, the one thing I have learned is to wipe off the glass before scanning every time. The scanner does seem to draw a lot of dust. The only drawback to this scanner is that Canon does not offer medium format film holders nor holders for 120/220 mounted slides. The other drawback I have found is that the slide and negative holders sit atop the glass plate and are located by one small plastic pin and a tab that fits into a cut out. While removing mounted slides, the holder has popped off of the pin and I have to put the holder back in place. If canon had designed this with two pins, the film and slide holder might stay in place better. Other than that, this scanner works for my needs and I would recommend it.

I have thousands of slides and negatives to convert to digital and had been unhappy with previous "self scanning" attempts. Professional labs worked well but cost was an issue. This product has worked perfectly on my 35mm color slides from the 1980s and 1990s. I am able to get 20+ megapixel images that can be processed with lightroom to produce images equivalent to my DSLRs. I have yet to try it with film negatives.

I bought this scanner to digitize photo albums and slides and negatives from over 40 years. The scanner is big enough in surface area to scan multiple photos at once if they are smaller in size, and can capture larger sizes easily. I scan 35mm plus 120mm film and even slides. I scan documents and make them PDFs, scan to email and scan to storage drives. I work with Mac so I can't speak to the Windows issue. But this scanner is perfect and does everything as advertised. I highly recommend.

Seems faster and more detail in scans that the 8600 Which died) that it replaced. Good value, well packaged, and shipping was good. I down-loaded the driver for Windows 10 and everything works fine with no problems..

Scanner works as advertised. I have scanned 35mm, old photos and documents. The resolution was excellent. One thing I really liked was the ability to scan 4 35mm films at a time.

Frankly this scanner is a waste of money. It might be ok for hobbyists who wouldn't know any better but if you're looking for quality, you'll need to look elsewhere. I plan to return this asap.....

Not too sure why canon made this. I picked one up to scan film with and the quality is terrible, down right awful. Scans are generally pretty ugly and need a fair amount of work to make them look slightly less terrible but terrible nonetheless. Scanning software says the image will be one size but after copying the image into the Lightroom to work with it the file size is about a quarter of what scan gear says it will be. Very disappointed in this product and if you're thinking of getting one, don't!!

For years I have used another brands scanner, which proved to be slow not only in the actual processing but limitations on the number of photos scanned at a time. I searched the Internet and based upon ratings chose the Cannon. And, I have not been disappointed. It runs faster, scanned in as many as 8 mixed size photos at a time, allows the user to select the file path to the folder for storing the photos and provides a great resolution for the digitized image.

Works well with simple yet flexible operating system. Only receives four stars because I must reserve final judgement until after I have made use of/tested more of its capabilities and output.

Since this product DOES work with Windows 10, I'm going to ignore every complaint about how it does not... What gets overlooked is that there is no native support for TWAIN-64 in Windows: blame Microsoft for that, not the scanner manufacturers. Software products like Vuescan bypass that problem and make this scanner available regardless whatever version of Windows is being used. The CanoScan software is available as a WIA scanner option in any application which allows for the user to choose the input source; again, get over it. One of the best indicators of the results this scanner can achieve, comes from scanning 16mm film frames: I can get 5" x 7" prints out of a film size which is a bit smaller than 110 negative. This scanner is not for the casual user, by any means. A CanoScan 220 is a much safer choice for the under-initiated. If you want to work for top results and need affordable power, this scanner IS the best choice, and does not cost an arm and a leg in the process.

I use this scanner to scan slides, film negatives and photos. It does a great job running on Windows 10. A bit slower than I'd like but all scanners I've used have that issue.

I bought this scanner in June 2014 to replace an old Microtek scanner. Haven't had any problems with this product. I noticed some reviews complaining about incompatibility with Windows 10. I have not had this problem since I upgraded from Win 8 to 10 early in 2015.

The scans are respectable for a scanner in this price category. Be prepared for it to stop working every time your OS is updated. This is the first Canon product I will be "round filing." Too bad.

I would have given 5 stars until recently, but Canon fails on keeping drivers up-to-date, which broke the integration into MacOS 10.11. All these nice scan buttons on the facia became in-operational with the latest version of MacOS. Canon acknowledges that this is the case, but don't even claim that they'd be working on a fix. I'm looking for a scanner of a different brand now.

I just installed my new Canon 9000F Mk II Scanner, and scanned four slides from a trip I took to Hong Kong in 1962 An amazing piece of equipment. Fast, sharp and easy to use. Canon at its best. Canon PERIOD!

I have been immensely pleased with this scanner. I got it primarily for scanning 35mm negatives and slides and the performance has been outstanding. I normally scan negatives at 2400 dpi even thought higher resolutions are available. I have been also scanning photos and the ability to scan up to 3 photos at once directly into Photoshop CS2 has proved to be very quick and and has also given me great results at 600 dpi. My only complaint has been the inability to scan 110 film negatives or any kind of 8mm/16mm frames even though the resolutions afforded would be adequate for most purposes.

Canon 9000F Mark II Scanner
By BeVisual
As any real photographer knows when it comes to equipment, the proof is in the photograph. That being said, the following is a photographer oriented review in that image quality is valued first and foremost. I picked up my 9000 F Mark II two days ago and since then I have run a number of real-world tests on it. Unfortunately, I could not compare it to the original 9000 F since I don't have one available, however, my 9000 F Mark II seems to perform better based on the early reviews of the ori...

"A" rating for the CanoScan 9000F, varied uses....
By Dave
I am happy with the CanoScan 9000F, and I use the scanner to scan negatives, slides, photographs and documents, both for business and personal photography interest. I have had very, very little issues with quality, regarding the ability to focus in, adjust or manipulate scans. I am happy with the functionality of the software regarding adjusting the scans and giving me options, not just variable DPI and photoshop software, but actually being able to adjust the quality of the scans. I have u...
