We used the scanner to recapture the photos that were destroyed due to Storm Sandy. Now we can view our pictures and even send them electronically to the extended family members so they can share the photos, too. The machine is easy to use, and can scan many pictures at one time. Your delivery time was Super !!!!! Thanks.

As a pictorial history author, I travel often for interviews where I have the opportunity to view rare photos and images that the owners are understandably reluctant to part with for even a few hours so they can be copied. This lightweight scanner now goes with me in the same case as my laptop and is as easy to set up as a flash or thumb drive! And it produces wonderful high res copies of rare and vintage photos, documents and imprints in a flash. The only drawback is the screen size. 11x14 size would make it just about perfect!

Normally scanners frustrate me because they are super slow and the software always wants to save the output to obscure places on my computer. This scanner was so much better. It scans like crazy. Set-up was simple and output is easy to change and then it keeps going there (default.) This thing is NOT frustrating.

I use this scanner to scan articles of interest in magazine subscriptions that I have so I don't need to keep the physical copy. It is easy to use. Rendering of printed and photo pages is excellent even at a resolution of 300. I would caution a new user to be careful to keep the distance between the scanner and the USB port short because it does not work well with a 10 foot cable length.

I am a professional journalist. I frequently need to scan historical photos for my stories. Many story resources will ot allow photos to leave their premisis. This scanner allows me to capture high quality images on location because of its size. It is thin enough to nicely in my laptop bag.

This scanner has great styling and produces excelent quality scans to PDF of both graphics and text. It is very easy to use with on-screen dialogs for setting resolution, output location and programs used for preview or editing. It is a little slow at about 6 sec to output a PDF of an 8x11 document at 200 DPI in black and white. Also, it does not sound or feel very solid but it is intended to be portable.

[...] the product itself was super easy to set up (particularly important since I am something of a Luddite) and works at a good speed.

I bought this scanner to replace my previous one, an LiDE30. It works fine on OSX 10.x using the Canon drivers and VueScan Pro for Mac. Canon's software tends to be a bit clunky, so using a high quality scanning program helps make this scanner shine.

THE BEST BANG FOR THE MONEY- PERIOD
By DanBo
I've used this for copies, scanning images, making PDF and a few other things it can do and it does it all excellent. My previous scanner is a HP Scan jet 4p from 1995 and uses a SCSI card interface. It still works and is a great old scanner. On my new PC I just wanted a simple USB connection. All I can say is the Canon is one great scanner. If you wanted to save a few bucks the 100 model is the same except the 200 starts out with a bit more resolution. With either one you can't go wrong. By ...

Good Scanner/Good Price!

I bought this scanner to replace my previous one, an LiDE30. It works fine on OSX 10.x using the Canon drivers and VueScan Pro for Mac. Canon's software tends to be a bit clunky, so using a high quality scanning program helps make this scanner shine.
The Canon CanoScan LiDE Scanner has convenient features for easy scanning up to 4800dpi. Just select what you want to do with your original-scan, copy, or create email attachments or PDFs-and the entire process is automated. The new Auto Scan Mode detects your type of original, then scans and saves it with the optimal settings.
Your results will be outstanding, with color dpi resolution up to 4800 x 4800 and you can also create fabulous 19200 x 19200 software-enhanced interpolated scans. Plus, a letter-sized color scan takes only about 14 seconds. The Advanced Z-Lid lets you produce clear, complete scans of thick originals such as notebooks. And to reduce "cable clutter," one simple cable provides power and a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed connection.
