I had my LiDE 220 less than a year. It's a low budget scanner. It's compact and easy use when it's working. Lately I had hard time to connect. I tried several different cables. Today I found out that the mini USB port broken off and fell into the case. Now I need to spend more money on a better scanner.

I am using this to scan in old photos. Took a bit of getting used to but very easy to operate.

I bought this scanner last week. I needed to scan several hundred photos for a project. I’m able to scan four photos at a time and the scanner accurately detects the border of each photo. The scanner is extremely fast and has excellent resolution. This has been my best purchase in a long time.

I used this scanner once to scan photos. The next day, the scanner wouldn't turn on. Dead!

Works fine with Simple Scan for quick and dirty jobs and VueScan where needs are more demanding. You might need to install the sane-utilities and sane-extras packages to get the canoscan driver. No futzing with etc/udev scripts required for Ubuntu and Fedora. It just works.

I have always used Canon printers and scanners, but no more. They replaced the simple to use MP Navigator EX with My Image Garden which is the worst software that I have ever encountered.

This is a horrible product. Don' buy it. It won't work on your computer.

Just bought and set up. Gives you PLENTY of options in settings to customize scans. Scans come out great. Software is simplistic, but no complaints here. Gives me every option I need. Can't attest to durability since I just got it. But so far so good!

I have had an LiDE 210 for a year or more, and I needed one in my summer home, so I bought the 220 which is the current product. The scanner is much the same - I'm sure it's as good or better than the 210. BUT the software is not. Canon reduced the capability - presumably to make it simpler for neophytes. But in doing so they took away at least one excellent feature of the 210's MP Navigator EX; it's ability to generate a multi-page PDF from a multi-page original. In MP Navigator EX, you scan the pages and it adds them to its user area as they are scanned. You can then select which scanned pages to process, and have them saved as a PDF, multiple JPGs, etc. With the 220, you get a one PDF file for every page scanned. So if you have a 3-page original to email to someone, they are going to get 3 separate PDFs, not one PDF with 3 pages.

I bought this for personal use, in organizing hundreds of family photos and documents. So far it has been a easy to use. I am still learning the different ways I can use it.

Windows do have Windows 10 drivers! You have to find them. Took me a whole day and find them. I emailed to Canon and they send right away, about 15 mins. He gave me a link where to find the Win 10 drivers and I get 404 error, can't find the address! Anyway, after a whole day I got it working. The scanner is perfect NOW. If you know where to find the software you don't have a problem. The two stars because the software. I would have a 5 star if the DVD came with the correct drivers for Win 10!

I just completed a review of this scanner and gave it 2 stars due to some driver issues. I have since discovered the cause of the problem and feel compelled to update the review. Since there is no way to do that I am filing this review from a different computer. I have need of two scanners and already had a LIDE210 which has been working flawlessly. Since that one is not carried anymore I picked up the 220 and brought it home. My initial issue was that the download of the complete software package does NOT include a Twain driver. Since I use Adobe and it requires a TWAIN driver I was hugely put out since the work around would not give me the flexibility in scanning that I needed. I was prepared to take the scanner back but being the obstinate cuss I am I decided to give it a bit more research. MOST of what I found had two complaints The TWAIN drivers and issues with Windows 10 (I am using windows 7 but made a note since one of my computers is running 10. I decided that rather than install the entire software package for my 2nd computer I would just download the driver only (dtd 2016) and everything worked fine. so I got my windows 10 laptop out, hooked up the scanner and proceeded to download the same driver package (JUST the driver). It loaded just fine, detected the scanner and finished loading. My first scan I encountered the crash in Adobe it stopped, said there was an issue and closed everything up. I rebooted the computer and ran another half dozen scans with no issue. I love these scanners, they are reasonably priced, and a good value if all you need is basic document scanned and some editing. I have upgraded my review to reflect 4 stars rather than the two I initially gave. I would give it 5 stars if not for the driver issues that will perplex others until they include the new drivers in the complete software package. The average non-techie will find much frustration the way things are set up on the site.

At my school, we received all but the USB cable. You would think we could just get any other USB cable to use, but the port on the scanner resembles the type of connector associated with mobile phones. We got no such cable in our scanner box.

Too many times I get an Error Message that the USB cable is the problem. When it decides to work it is OK but it doesn't work often enough!

Good document scans. So easy to set up. I love that there's not a separate power supply cord. So inexpensive and totally worthwhile purchase.

I have had this product for 2 days now and it is not working. I am taking today off because this product has me stumped. To look at the product, it is lovely. Since the only manual directive was how to open it and plug it in. At 79 years old, I already know how to do that and I did it easy. I am not going to download and print 200 + pages,as they are very difficult to understand. Should I get it operating, I will let you know and if it deserves a better rating...I will change my critique. I do not recommend this product at this time.

Same problem as others reviewers have reported when using Windows 10. I have two exact computers computers (upgraded to Windows 10) and this scanner works only on one. On the one that works, it will disconnect while scanning a multi sheet document. It varies, I may be able to scan 20 sheets or just a few before it disconnects. At the end I have a lot of pdf files (instead of one) to complete scanning of a multisheet document. Great for scanning a few sheets/pictures, but had I know of this problem I would definitely not purchased this scanner.

The set up was challenging because the enclosed paperwork was minimal. I went on-line and even there I could not figure out what this odd shaped plastic piece was used for. I called into customer service and they were very helpful and I was told it was a stand for vertical scanning. Okay, not in the set up paperwork or users manual but good to know. Also, the scanner will only work when I re-start my Mac otherwise my machine doesn't detect it even when I open up the app. I called into Customer Service once more and they walked me through a settings issue. Very friendly and helpful. The scanning is clear and I have no issues after that.

Quiet, quick, does not allow as my old HP (chooses the scan area for you), but none of that matters. Its rendition of white is horrid! Every color image I scan that has white surrounding the colored area is awful! I just ran a test of the old one vs. this scanner on the same source document and I wish I could post it. Looked for settings to change and found none. As it is, the scanner is destined for the electronic waste pile. A shame.

After 6 months, since then I have used maybe 10 times, the connection doesn't work, an annoying message saying the scanner is not connected. I will never buy another canon product,NEVER

The scanner itself is very good, fast and the scanned images are great. I gave it one star because under Windows 10 it fails more than it works making it nearly unusable at work. Lack of proper support for latest operating system is what makes this otherwise excellent product very difficult to recommend.

I replaced an older Canon scanner with this model and once I learned how to use the software, I absolutely loved everything about it, except one thing; there is no on/off button and also no power cord. This means the only connection is a USB cable. This was fine when I powered up my computer and immediately used the scanner, but if I didn't immediately use the scanner, the computer thought there was no scanner connected! The good news was; all I had to do is to switch to a different USB port to get it working. However, this became such a great source of irritation that I decided to return the scanner for one with a power cord.

As is now the case, most products do not come with an instruction manual, and what instructions are offered are often in a jargon not understood by seniors like myself. I'm sure I have made a good purchase, but I haven't been able to make it work yet. I'll have to get someone who can bridge the gap between the generations to help me set it up and get it running.

The quality is top notch. I bought this to replace a Lide 210 that dies of old age. Unfortunately the software is awkward and clumsy. 6 pages to open to set a file path, three to open to change the path for the next doc. Not good as the old 210.
