I use this almost daily to scan photos and documents for my genealogy hobby. Very easy - runs via your laptop for power - so I can take it with me when I am on the go. Love it.

So far, so good! I have just had the scanner for a few weeks, but it was easy to set up, and is working great. We have always had CanoScan scanners and I've used them for scanning all the artwork in multiple books I've written/illustrated.

quick and easy to use, would like to be able to 'scan to printer' with it.

Although I spoke with Sales and Technical Assistance before making the purchase, who were both great, was disappointed when I learned it was incompatible with my version of Linux Mint. Therefore, I had to return it. A suggestion is to improve the process for obtaining the correct driver for the operating system. No other complaints other than to make reaching a 'live' person after the sale easier since AI is not the answer, and to clearly post the hours for technical assistance.

Poor product. Ridiculous setup procedures. My fault I did not know it does not support Bluetooth which is weird for this day and age. Also, to sensitive to movement since the instruction warn you about handling the device.

I bought and it never worked at all. The scanner never had power and I couldn't find a replacement cord. I will try to return to Cannon since missed Amazons return window.

It's ok. More cheaply built than my CanoScan 8800F. And, not apparently as easy to use. There is not a single, thorough instruction booklet on the Canon website in PDF form so had to download info, page-by-page, and assemble. A truly thankless job!

I got it, followed the instructions to hook it up to my iMac with one exception I did not load the Canon software as I use VueScan. It works great with VueScan. If you have trouble with the Canon software try out VueScan.

What kind of product these days isn't compatible with Windows 10? Unbelievable... I'll tell you Canon Lite 400 scanner...

Doesn't work with the Mac even though the site says it does.

Driver will not install to my windows 11 laptop. I spent hours working at it with no success . Canon Website shows that others have had the same problem but Canon offers no solution. so I'm sending back. Darn, I really wanted this to work.

We replaced a 600F with this 400. The scanner is more awkward to use, but acceptable. The IJ Scan Utility though is far inferior to the earlier CanoScan Toolbox 5.0. In the Toolbox all the settings I change regularly, mode, scan type and output file name are on one pop-up, not on a layer below. Also, I should have total control over the output file name. I should not have to remove date/sequence nbr every time I scan something. Both the hardware and software are a step backwards. If Canon had Windows 11 drivers for the 600F we would still be using a perfectly operating scanner and a well thought out interface.

The scanner is small and lightweight. It has many features but is easy to setup. Produces great scans of pictures.

Instructions aren't clear on how to obtain the maximum resolution that this scanner is supposed to support. Included software for "stitching" scan was disappointing. It only works to combine two images side by side you apparently can't combine top and bottom (like to scan a legal document - hello. Granted I can scan most legal documents in my other sheet feeder scanner but I was hoping to use this flatbed for some old and really fragile items. Noisy even on "quiet" setting but seems to work fine.

Still haven't receive the item after a month and a half. But you've taken my money. No time frame provided.

I like the size of the scanner... the hardware scans very nice images. However, the communications between the PC and the scanner seems to get lost once in awhile if you wait too long between scans. Restarting the application resolves the problem. Don't know if this is a hardware or a software issue. For the money... it can't be beat!

I just want a JPEG from AutoScan, and it only goes me a PDF. What is Canon thinking?

I primarily have been using this scanner to scan my illustrations so that I can digitally paint them and so far it has been great for my needs. It?s quick and light but, like almost all flatbed scanners, I wish that it felt more sturdy so that I felt confident that I could carry it around in a backpack without it breaking. But I can live with just using it at home and I also like that it only requires a single usb cable to work. I would say that I?m very happy with this scanner :-

Great product. Instruction Manual could be more user friendly, /jpg' resolution limited to 600 dpi. Fully scan capability only available in 'tiff' format for photos. 4800 dpi setting has not been found.

It was on back order, but communications were great, and it works just fine when it came.

I've been using the Canon Lide series since the 100. Always great performance, functionality and outstanding scans. What can I say about the Lide400 even better than the siblings!

I purchased the scanner in early February, 2021. My wife and I use the LIDE 400 to scan photos and make copies of financial documents. Installation was quick and easy. Operation is straightforward. The software user-interface is intuitive, and -- for many applications -- it is possible to simply use the buttons on the front of the scanner. Given its low price, I was skeptical that the performance of the LIDE 400 would be satisfactory, but decided to take a chance. Glad I did.

The scanner is is easy to use. Quick setup. It scans fast, unlike my all in one printer/scanner that scans slow and is difficult to use. The scans are good quality. Overall a great product.

Scanner is being sold as 4800dpi when in reality, the crude software lets you only choose 600dpi as reolution

The Cannon Canoscan LIDE400 was purchased to replace my Lide 100. It has been working fine since my purchase and installation. I loved my old Lide 100 but it did not work well with a new Windows Pro 10 computer. Price was very good.

This is an excellent scanner for your scanning needs. I have never had a problem with it and the scan quality and speed is top notch. I would highly recommend it.

It gave me the control I needed to scan and it was easy to use. I like it. This is the second Canon Scanner I have used. The first was lost last Fall in a California wildfire.

Works perfectly out of the box.

Works perfectly out of the box. Software is easy to understand and I was able to figure out quickly how to push the resolution limits as I hope to on special scanning projects.
