I have had this camera for over 3 years and it has been all over the world with me - fantastic underwater and land photos.

i have had at least 4 of these and while i only bought 2 both had to be replaced under warranty due to leakage while at depths of 10' or less. sometimes if left in sun they revive sometimes your screwed. last trip ended up having to buy fuji as a replacement ...it was half price of canon and have used it for years with no issues . lt gets to be a pain when it breaks and you cannot get it repaired without shipping it to the states. however this is all moot point now as they no longer make this camera...thank god for that.

I have had my D30 for about 2 years - I’ve used it while white water rafting, snorkeling down to 15ft, and at the beach / pool and it has performed very well. Fast start up time to get those unexpected photos and good photo / video quality. I went on a family vacation and didn’t have the space to bring my scuba camera / case which is quite large / heavy and hard to travel with - so I just brought the D30. My first dive was 90+ feet so I had to leave the camera on the boat but the second was planned for 70ft - so I brought it. I know how to properly clean and close a waterproof case and the D30 worked perfectly - the flash worked well since it wasn’t blocked by a housing - took nice photos and video for a point and shoot camera - very easy to use. Only issue was the location of the video button too easy to press with gloves on, but I got used to it and just deleted unwanted videos. 5 stars for a mini pocketable camera to 70+ feet!

I bought this 2 years ago, I have taken it snorkling 3 times and have rinsed it after every use. This time I went scuba diving 40 feet and water got in and it no longer works. Thank goodness my photos were not damaged. Tired of cameras saying they are good underwater and only last a few trips. 3 cameras gone! This was the first Canon the others were Fujji

I bought this camera in November 2016. I took it snorkeling for 30 minutes or so in January 2017 and it worked fine. I used it a second time in January 2018 and it got water in it and quit working almost immediately. I have bought at least 10 Canon cameras over the years. In fact I just bought a new Canon for Christmas. I am told the warranty is only one year, so I'm out of luck. I read the reviews just now and see I am not along with this problem. So for a new camera to fail so quickly under such limited use is beyond ridiculous. No more Canon cameras for me or my family

I bought this camera a little over a year ago and don't use it very often. I used it for scuba diving in fairly shallow waters one day a year ago and it worked great. Last week, I was scuba diving in @25 feet for about an hour and it stopped working. Water got in it. That's not supposed to happen with a waterproof camera. Very disappointed that I spent so much money on a good camera for it to break on second use. Of course, it's now past warranty.

I liked the Auto feature because I was able to get some pretty good pictures while the motorcoach was whizzing down the highway. However, I had MAJOR TROUBLE with the button you push down to take the pictures. Sometimes it was easy and I got nice pictures, other times it was impossible to get the button pressed down hard enough to take a picture, and then if I used both thumbs to hold the bottom and used both pointer fingers and press with every bit of strength I had I might bet a picture. There were so many pictures that I lost because of that. Fortunately I did have two Sony Cybershot cameras with me that I started using but by then it was too late to retrace our tour route and get a chance to use the other cameras. I'm returning everything except the memory card and I DO NOT EVER want another camera like that! Marilyn Holgate

I bought this camera specifically to capture the water excursions for my client. It worked wonderfully to capture those water shots. I also used it on my morning run because it was compact and easy enough to hold while I was running. Some of my favorite shots were captured with this camera.

If you enjoy taking pictures or videos while Snorkeling or Diving this is the most simple camera you can have with a great resolution , real colors and a lot of possibilities ... I can't imagine myself going to the sea without it.. I have more than 90 hours of underwater videos and countless pics in the Coral Reef of Roatan and also incredible sunsets. I begun with the D20 and actually the D30 has so many functions that I didn't yet know how to take advantage of it. You will love it.....

Had A Nikon Nightmare: AW120 had a loose hinge design. Failed on 2nd snorkel, The Nikon refirb replacement failed on the 1st use underwater. The soft rubber contact points for a seal are designed to fail on many amphibious cameras, like cheaper Fuji's and Nikons. The D30 has a real o-ring band, that always seats for a good seal (for each door. 50 dives and snorkel sessions to 50-70 feet, no probs yet on this one. Great color, auto-focus, and an UW macro mode. Cool!

I used this camera in all seasons for about a year and a half. It took great pics & video. In winter, for skiing, you had to keep the battery warm to get it to work. In warmer months & locations it did well also, worked the first year underwater But on a recent trip to the Caribbean this spring, the display screen went blank. Canon estimated it would cost more than half of what I could but=y a new one for. So, not sure I want to invest anymore of my money in Canon, if a year and a half is all I am going to get out of this D30.

I own 2 cameras. My husband and I are both avid snorkelers. We started with one camera. The following year, we bought our second camera. Absolutely love it. Friends and family rave about the pics I post on fb. They all ask what kind of camera do I have. We are into our 3rd and 4th year using the cameras. We have not had any problems with either one of them. I do not use them for land pics as I have a Canon EOS Rebel T5i which I also am very well pleased with.

I've had the camera for approximately 1 year and used it only a handful of times. Initially the camera took quality pictures, but the display stopped working and the camera stopped taking pictures. I searched for similar issues and found other owners encountering the same issue. The menu is accessible, but the camera won't work.

I am a professional photographer, and I bought this to take with me on expeditions that include swimming. The camera is excellent for underwater and above water image capture. The camera only captures jpg images, and I hope Canon comes up with a RAW underwater camera in the future. I do not do much video, but the video function appears good. Since I am used to DSLR pro cameras, I have some difficulty with the menu when trying to acheive settings other than full auto, and the menu is not very intuitive for me. I had to download the full user's manual since the manual shipped with the camera was very basic and I could not figure out how to set the camera up without the detailed manual.

This is actually a review of the D10. The D10 has been the best beach camera I have ever had. It takes better sunset photos than my 7D+L lens. My hope with this review is that Canon will put the sunset mode back on the D models. But - for now my D10 from 2009 still works perfect. THANK YOU

I had a Canon D-10, which was great! I'm an advid fly fisherman, and take my camera with me all the time. I dropped my D-10 and cracked the viewing screen. My boys got me this one for my birthday. I've only used it a few times thus far, however the quality of the shots have been great, and the zoom is much like the D-10. I was disappointed that Canon removed the attachment points, that the D-10 had. It was Great for an outdoorsman. The D-30, does not have this feature, and has very few accessories, hopefully Canon will add more accessories to accommodate for the outdoorsman.

The Canon PowerShot D30 Underwater Camera is the ideal choice for intrepid types who often find themselves outdoors, underwater or in extreme situations. Bikers, hikers, skiers and climbers can also confidently pack the PowerShot D30 to document the day's action, the camera is shockproof to 6.5 feet and temperature resistant all the way from 14deg. to 104deg.F.
The camera's built-in GPS tracker records the location and time of all the images and videos you capture and the new Sunlight LCD mode makes it easy to see the monitor even on bright, sunny days. Whether you're underwater or on dry land, images are beautifully clear, steady and loaded with detail and natural color thanks to the Canon HS SYSTEM and Intelligent IS. When you're too busy to choose camera settings, Smart AUTO does it for you by automatically recognizing 32 predefined shooting situations, capturing the best quality with every shot.
