I got this printer because it is a laser printer. It does a great job. What I also like is that it can be used as a copy machine, which also does multiple copies, and that it is easy to get the machine to do what you want from the computer. I have not tried to print envelopes, nor cards. The only thing that I do not like is that you have to make a manual adjustment on the printer itself, if you want to scan, so you have to get up if the printer is any distance from the computer.

I've had this printer for a few years now and I love it like a favorite pair of shoes! It's so easy to use and the quality is great. This has been my experience and I recommend this little guy to anyone wanting a personal desk printer/scanner/copier.

If you are looking for a cheap, fast, reliable printer that also copies and scans, the Canon ImageCLASS d530 works well. I've had zero problems with it after two years of usig it in my office. If you need a fax feature, you'll need to look elsewhere.

I don't usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so based on some of the very negative comments I see here. I have been a computer systems engineer for over 13 years. I have dealt with many printers/scanners during that time, and I've had the D530 at home for approximately five months Although I can't comment on the fax capabilities because I have not used that feature, scanning and printing have been great. The device is installed on a Windows 10 Pro 64-bit desktop, and I've had zero problems with paper jams, print quality, or scan quality. If you are having trouble getting this device to work (or any device really, I'd recommend making sure that your operating system and drivers are all as up to date as possible.

It is decently working machine but you have to be patient with the scan function and absolutely make sure you download the right software/drivers for your OS. If it does not work okay you will need to retry again by removing all and downloading reinstalling all over again......I know its a pain on the neck, but as I said before you have to be patient, it will work trust me.

This is the worst ever printer I have ever used. It doesn't scan but it is all in one

This is a very good printer. I like the fact that it is all in one, which is exactly what I need. If it would have had a fax feature, it would have even been better. It prints when you hit print on the computer, which is fine, but it would be nice if the scanner would work automatically also. I have to go to scanner on the computer, which I can understand, but then I have to set the scan setting on the unit, which causes a problem on the computer, if I forget to set it. I have had this printer for about 2 years, and this is the only design flaw that I can find. I have never used the envelope printing feature, because it is just easier to write the address on by hand, since I use it as a home printer. I do not have a business, or an office.

Just too clunky and problematic. Software wasn't that great.

I bought this printer knowing it prints black/white only. The way it's work for me so far after a year, I've been very happy. It's a great laser jet printer. Thank You. The print come out very fast and clear.

I bought the D530 almost two years ago, and I honestly couldn't be happier. It replaced an aging Oki Data single function laser printer and an ancient Acer flatbed scanner, both of which simply died after about 14 years. I have never been a fan of inkjet printers, due to the cost and short life span of the cartridges. Plus, I have no real need to print in color. On the rare occasion that I want to print a photo, I hit the photo kiosk on one of my frequent trips to Sam's Club. The extensive controls are relatively straightforward and intuitive, and I particularly like the flawless auto-duplex function. I've had very few paper jams. But, I use good quality 24lb paper, and I have only experience a misfeed if an edge is bent. The D530 is plenty fast for my purposes, printing as well as scanning. Both functions are substantially faster than the two machines it replaced. Print quality? I consider it to be very good, though probably not business quality. I only use genuine Canon toner cartridges. I've found that they produce much higher quality documents, with far fewer functional problems than the generic refill variety. They ARE spendy, but I think they're worth it at the end of the day. At around 2000 pages, their lifespan isn't the greatest. But a cartridge will last me about a year, so I'm okay with that. It doesn't have wireless capability. But, I share the printer on my home network, so that isn't a big deal. I just install the driver on our laptop, connect to our LAN, and I'm good to go. It also doesn't have a document feeder, but I knew that when I bought it. For the ridiculously low price I paid, I think its native feature set is outstanding. I truly don't understand the negative reviews on this printer. It appears that they all involve a "will not print" or "will not scan" issue. I'm guessing that's due to improper driver installation. I have occasionally experienced that problem myself, only to remember that the printer MUST be disconnected from the PC before installing both the driver and the MF ToolBox. Aside from that, the D530 has been rock solid and easy to operate. I'm a totally satisfied user!

Generally not bad. No WiFi. Had some problems when upgrading to Windows 10 which took time to fix. No autoexposure for negative scanning (most people won't care but also a rather small memory for multiple page copies, etc. I got it very cheap, so worth the price.

Scanning software is virtually unusable. Between the 530 and Microsoft 7 a 10 minute job on the MF3110 and XP has turned into a two hour ordeal.

I don't typically leave reviews but I saw the negative comments and felt like I should "stand up" for this printer. *First off, it's a printer, not a scanner. So yes that is why it does not scan to your computer. Windows is stupid to give you the option .. as the printer literally can not do that. *The copier works amazingly fast and great if you "know" what you are doing. I guess if it was the first time using a copier, it could be confusing.. but from standby, I can have a front/back (2 page -> 2 page) copy made in <30 seconds. Just click the energy saver button to take it out of sleep and select the type of copy you want (i.e, if you want to copy a two sided page and you want it to be front/back (2 sided) on the copy -> select 2-sided to 2-sided). When you click the start/green button, this *only* scans (you could scan more then just those 2 pages to its memory) and when you finished scanning, click the "ok" button to click on start copy .. as you know, you're starting/printing the copy, get it? *Drivers/software can be annoying to setup on windows/linux but once you have them downloaded and the printer properly installed, you should be set. This assumes no other programs (or people OR Windows) changes your settings. *You can get cheap toner replacements but obviously they are not as good as the originals. But for the price, considering the printer comes with a sample toner (which got near the 2k pages for me), it's well worth the money either way. *I purchased one for my house (I use it from general printing to printing large reports for school to printing shipping labels) and have it setup on linux server (using CUPS) where I can share my printer with my network and then also outside my network (so I technically made it a wireless from anywhere printer). In reality, most non-technical users can also do this by connecting their google account to whatever computer the printer is plugged into and using cloud print .. then you got a cheap wireless printer! *Since I was pleased with my purchase, I have since gotten 3 more for other family members and set them up for them (I even used the google cloud print for them, so I can attest it works well, but the computer has to be on, or else you can not use that feature). Obviously this is not the best printer by any means, but in reality it has (or can be made to have) most of the features that printers double it cost. PS: I do a lot of scanning myself, but I do enough where it was worth my while to buy a full pledged duplex scanner (it cost double what this printer costs). So if you need a scanner, then you may want to look elsewhere. But also keep in mind you can get a single page scanner for $20; so would it really be worthwhile? Or do you really need/want to waste money on a color printer (and the ink as it does dry up too)?

Prints everything I feed it, including envelopes, though that took practice, For the price, I'm considered purchasing a back-up unit!

This is a high quality printer that is quick. It scans easily using Canon software. It prints high quality and fast. However, I use the printer to print checks from Quicken and unless you are printing on 8 1/2 x 11 paper it's a chore. If you are printing a page which has only one or two checks you must specify the paper size. It doesn't remember this setting so you must do this each time. That's a real pain. Furthermore, if you are printing more than three checks and the first page is only one or two checks, the printer stops with an error message if the paper size is not entered correctly. Not recommended if this is one of your main uses of the printer.

This is a very good value for the money. It does an excellent job printing out photographs (in B&W) which I liked. It also did a good job of copying and printing the items I needed done. The control layout is good, and gives you a good deal of control over contrast along with being able to print on both sides of a sheet of paper. There are handholds on both sides down at the bottom, making it easier to lift and move. All in all, a good value for the price.

After learning my former printer manufacturer no longer supports its ink jets, I bought this on the recommendation of a cartridge refill store. Seldom print, but when I do, it begins functioning within 3 seconds or less regardless of its my own doc or something off the web. Too bad the refill cartridge costs almost that of the printer. Copies as well as it prints. Windows 7 always forces scans into photo mode. Scans always come out light. No idea why.

Owned a canon copier for many years; it was efficient and durable for a long time. I replaced it with Imageclass D530. My main complaint is that this machine wastes so much of my time. You get tired of waiting around just to get one copy. Heaven forbid if you want 2 copies. Turns me off enough to go to another company.

As was reported by another reviewer, this unit simply died after almost no use. I purchased it in late 2013, used it 5 or 6 times over 6 months. Then it simply stopped working,. You can hear it power up when turned on, but no lights come on and it does not respond to buttons or any functions. Thanks for wasting my time and money.

Called up tech support from Canon and they said to switch my printing paper. What I was using was multi-purpose paper.

works great, handy features, copies better than my copier, sure beats the cost of ink jet printer when you only need it for invoices, quotes etc., where color printing is not needed. Should have bought a laser jet years ago. Highly recommend

After many years of dealing with ink jet printers simply to print out documents the switch to a photostatic copier printer that interfaces to a computer is a relief. The problems associated with ink jet cartridges are many for occasional print needs yet the price of a laser printer at one time was so expensive, ink jets were a very low cost alternative until the cartridges clog, dry up, and fail due to defective ones. This device is now priced at the cost of some small ink jet printers. It i...
