[...]The camera is so easy to use and I'm new to the DSLR world, so it's not like I came into this with a lot of background knowledge. I'm using the auto setting right now and getting some great shots - hoping to feel comfortable enough to work with some manual settings soon. I do want to invest in a couple additional lenses, but the kit lens is more than sufficient to get you started. [...]

For some reason, I cannot get the LCD to show me the target image. If "stumble" on how to do it; it reverts at next use. Book is NOT a good publication; what a shame for such a good camera, otherwise.

This is my first SLR camera, so it is difficult to know enough to really evaluate it. However, as I delve into this, I will definitely give the manual 5 stars; as opposed to other manuals I've seen. It actually explains things in complete sentences! The camera is lightweight (good for me) , menus clear and easy to understand. I think it will be great as I learn more.

I've wanted a good DSLR to replace my old AE1 and to be better than my p&s. The XSi is all that and more. This will probably be the last camera I own and fills all the needs I have. I enjoy bird watching and have bought this to take pics of our avian friends. I also enjoy photographing whatever strikes my fancy and the XSi will meet all these needs.[...]

I am a novice photographer and wanted to get a camera that I can learn with and expand my skills... I found this with this camera and not quite sure how I have lived without it up until this point.

I wanted to get "more" out of my pictures than a point and shoot could give me so I opted for a dslr. After a lot of research I decided on the Canon xsi. I use this camera to capture family moments and would like to use it for much more but I am still learning. The size of the body is great (I have small hands) and the dial control on top is really easy to use. Actually, the whole camera is pretty easy to get used to, although, I am having a little trouble with the focus, but I think that is me being a novice. Canon is a great brand and this is a great camera. I would highly recommend this to friends and family members, which I already have!

I looked around for a long time and I'm glad I chose this camera. It's the best camera for the price. It doesn't have HD video but I have a seperate HD video camera for that. You don't have to get this exact model but make sure you get a Canon.

I love the way this camera feels in my hands. I am new to photography and looked into Nikon 3000 / 5000 and actually got this one based on the way it actually felt. I have taken the time to read alot on how to use SLR cameras and it does take some time to learn, but amazing what it can do. I take alot of action photos of my dogs or wildlife and for a starter camera I think I made a great choice.

Just a year ago, we purchased a Panasonic Lumix point and shoot camera that we thought had the speed to take photos of our infant...now a toddler. After talking with a friend who photgraphs wedding and recently took our holiday photos we decided it was time to upgrade to a DSLR. Her first camera was a Canon Rebel XTi and the Canon brand was highly recommended. We have enjoyed taking several photos and have captured moments that we would have otherwise missed with a point and shoot. This is a great camera and if you already own a video camera, you can save by going with this versus the T1i. We tested the speed by throwing a ball in the air for our dog to catch. We snapped the photo with her leaping in mid air catching the ball as if she were frozen in time. The speed and quality that this camera delivers is great and it does not take long to learn its many uses. I suggest experimenting with still objects with the different settings if you are a beginner as I am.We ordered the camera and received it with days just before the holidays. [...]

Bought this for my wife as Christmas present. It is her first DSLR camera, and she has had no problems using it and has loved the quality of the photos she has taken.

Bought the first Rebel Eos XT and upgraded to the XSi. It has only gotten better. Easy to use (you must read the user'smaunual)and great quality photos. I loove my Canons, would not shoot with anything else.

I am new to the digital SLR world and purchased the Canon Rebel XSi to get started and fulfill my interest and new hobby - and I love it!! It has great Auto features, but also has Creative Mode where you can get "creative" with your pictures. This feature is why I bought the camera - and I'm still new to everything, but its a wonderful learning curve. Highly recommend!

I bought this camera hoping to become more involved in photography and it worked!!! I love the ease and functionality of this camera. I had it for Christmas and took over 500 pictures! Now, I have the opportunity to go through them all on my computer and keep the ones I want. I am thrilled with this camera and will be using it lots in the future!!!

I am really enjoying this camera. I recently took it on vacation and the photos are wonderful. I also purchased the "Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III USM Autofocus Telephoto Zoom Lens" with this product. The Zoom quality is impressive. Though I am a casual photographer, some of the pro's may not agree with me but, I am totally enjoying this unit.

While this is my first DSLR, it is not my first camera, and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. Simple enough to start taking shots right away, with enough features to let me grow into my new camera. I'll be learning new things about what this camera can do for at least the next 6 months! A great entry-level class DSLR that's actually better than its entry-level classification.

This is a great intro DSLR. Canon picture and product quality is superb, even given the "kit" lens. Large LCD screen doubles as metering area. There are always a lot of settings to learn with an SLR camera, but this provides good "auto" settings for those quick pic opportunities, as well as the ability to manually manage your settings. If you're just getting into photography, this is the camera for you.

Excellent camera. You need to learn how to use the features, if you are going to use it as a point and shoot then you will not utilize the full potential. Buy more lenses, filters and tripod and you will be good to go as semi-pro photographer. I believe that you will enjoy this camera..

I had a near breakdown as I contemplated over whether to buy the XSi or the T1, but I finally decided on the XSi, mostly because I decided I would not be using the HD video capability of the T1. I am extremely happy with my decision. I cannot express what a great starter DSLR this Rebel XSi is. If you are looking to just get started with SLR capabilities, this is a great choice. You will get great quality shots while having lots of fun!

I am a Casual photographer but I love to shoot and have been shooting for 25 years. The camera is really good for sharp photos, lots of options for doing your own shooting without the help of the camera.controls are easy to use and understand.Cons, the auto focus is a little slow and sometimes gets confused easyly.

I am a photo enthusiast new to Canon and the XSi. I have been very pleased with the ease of use, nice LCD, portability and image quality. Truly, with the right lens, this camera takes fantastic shots, especially for the price. I have found the high ISO shots to be excellent for the price point, and the speed of the camera is better than I expected, even with action shots, provided the lens is up to the task. The only thing I miss from the Olympus E-510 I'm switching from is the dial-in white balance setting, as sometimes the custom white balance setting on the Canon isn't stellar, although mostly it falls in the range that's correctable with post-processing. I can recommend without hesitation, especially with falling prices lately.

Very good camera that can also function as a point and shoot. Also has manual settings that allow to really explore the camera to see what it is capable of.

Great Product!

While I do prefer CF cards over SD cards, that is a personal preference, and I decided to give in to get the other features of the XSi . I love the high ISO noise reduction! You can shoot at ISO 1600 without any problems. My XT started to get noisy at ISO 800 (400 in low light). I love the high resolution, and big, bright LCD! I was a little upset by the change in battery, but the Lithium Ion battery last a long long time! If you are in the market for an entry-to-mid-level EOS camera look no ...
