I originally had a Canon Elph SD 630, which I really liked but not until Canon came out with the PURPLE Canon Elph did I decide to buy a new one. Surprisingly the zoom pics on the Canon Elph 310 is amazingly clear unlike my older Canon. It's so clear, I end up using it as my binoculars at concerts so I can see the facial expressions on the artists! Other people standing by me can't believe how clear my pics are. The HD video is pretty steady and it's nice how I can zoom in and out while recording and it stays in focus. The battery charge lasts a long time, considering I take a lot more pictures than the average person. I recently made a video slideshow and the pics and video are so clear and the colors so vivid on a 55" t.v. screen. On top of that, Canon has the best customer service. I was bummed that my camera recently got water damaged, which is not covered under warranty. But they offered a great loyal customer option to make it affordable to buy a refurbished one. I just wish Canon would make a waterproof case for this camera. If they had one for the Elph 330, I would definitely buy that new camera and the case! Probably the only drawback on this camera is when asking someone to take your picture and they never seem to hold the shutter button down long enough (at least 2 seconds for the camera to capture a picture.

Love this Camera. I got it because the pic where sharp and the zoom was good. I got this a year and a half ago. I do photography and the pix come out crisp and perfect. This is a really good camera. I think the pics are amazing and sharp. Even though it's a year out of date i would say get it. It's very compact. If your a new photographer i would say get it because the quality of the pic are perfect. Or just a run around camera because it's small. PERFECT.

What an amazing little camera! I bought it to replace my old pocket camera that was damaged by a friend. I tried and returned several brands before deciding to try this one based on the review in Consumer Reports in 2011. It has exceeded my expectations in a pocket camera. The wide range of settings coupled with the video features equal superb quality stills and video. I like that I can zoom while shooting video, previous camera wouldn't. 8x zoom and hi-def video slo - mo in a camera this small and light is unbelievable. I used the Vibrant setting recently to take a close up of a peacock on a very gloomy, showery day... and got one of the best shots I've ever taken. I also have a DSLR, but even when I am primarily shooting with the DLSR, I have my little Elph 310 in my pocket for video. It has very little shutter lag and minimal time between shots. I wish the zoom control was on the back of the camera, not on top. Also, be sure to format your sd card in the Canon, especially if you've used it in another brand. Not formatting in the Canon means you'll randomly lose pictures.

I bought this camera for taking photos of skin conditions encountered in a dermatology clinic. I wanted something small, and it had to be very easy and quick to use in a very busy setting. I wanted something that could take good quality up-close photos. I'm not concerned with taking publication-quality photos (although I think these photos are good enough for submission to journals, I just want to make my own portfolio for my education and for teaching others. This camera does it very nicely. Just point and shoot -- if you give it a second, it will chose the correct (macro) mode for the shot, and the pictures are very crisp. Even a non-photographer like myself can take good pictures with this camera. I recommend it!

I have just pruchased a second 310 HS for my wife and find everything on the picture taking side fine for such a compact camera with a very good optical zoom. My problem is that I like to keep a copy of all my digital pictures on the camera memory chip as well as backed up copies elsewhere. My previous models the SD630 and the later SD 750 allowed my 9,000 plus images to be reviewed by Folder. With the 310 HS I have to start at one end and search all the images without being to find the individual Folders. This takes considerably longer than on the previous models and to me this is a move backwards to an otherwise excellent design.

Love it! Love it! Love it! I bought the Canon Elph 310 for my birthday after seeing/trying my son's. I love the compact size and the user-friendly features. The Auto setting is perfect for nearly everything! It's fast enough for shots from the car! I was very pleased to find a Handheld Night Scene that worked beautifully on the last full moon! I've taken numerous shots of winter birds feeding using the wonderful zoom that even remains clear at 20x digital zoom. Highly recommend!

WOW!! This is the best small camera I have ever had. It was worth the extra $ more for the HS model. I have never had our used a small camera with such sharp and beautiful shots. I did buy an extra battery when I bought this camera and I am glad I did. I also am glad I got the 310 model with the extra zoom.

I recently purchased this camera from Amazon. So far the pictures I've taken are awesome. Much clearer than my previous Canon. I'm very pleased with the purchase and the purple color is vibrant!

I just got this camera in my store, and I have been selling cameras for a while, and this camera is my personal favorite. Canon is of coarse still showing off how great their image stabilization is with this camera, as well as how fast it will focus even while at full telephoto. crazy good macro shots, the focusing distance is insane! best camera ever
