I just got this for a steal on the Canon online store and I'm impressed for what I got for the price. I got mine in black and it looks very nice. I'm also impressed with the size of the display, though the photos will look way better once they're exported to a computer. I'm still getting used to the touch screen, but it'll be a matter of playing with it more. The optical zoom is incredible for a little camera of this size! The auto mode is remarkable, though the scene modes are many and can be fun. I have a full frame Canon 6D and a couple of thousands of dollars in glass, but I hate using my smartphone to take pictures, especially since any zoom on a smartphone is simply a misnomer. Cropping an image is not zooming, so I refuse to take my phone's camera serious. This is portable and I can still be creative. Thanks!

We bought this to replace a 6 year old 5MP 12x Optical Zoom with a 4x Digital Zoom. This camera with its 12.1 MP quality really impresses. The ease of point and shoot with great quality that surpasses my expectations. I haven't used the video features yet but I expect those to dazzle.

Great combination of portability (pocket size) and optical zoom. You can't have the dslr with you at all times. This little gem is no problem.

This camera is a exciting add to my arsenal; easy to use right out of the box (after charging the battery of course), easy menu system and takes wonderful pictures.

So far I have enjoyed using the camera ,although I have not mastered it's use. It is light, portable and takes crisp, clear photos. It was a good buy. I use it to take pictures for reference when I paint in watercolor. I also like to take pictures when hiking and biking.

Great combination of portability (pocket size) and optical zoom. You can't have the dslr with you at all times. This little gem is no problem.
The Canon PowerShot ELPH 510HS Digital ELPH Camera (Red) is a slender 12.1Mp point-and-shoot that goes beyond the genre's suggested capabilities. Of course, you can just point the 510 at your subject and click for a great photo, but Canon gave this Powershot multiple other functions to explore for expressing your creativity and enjoying the fruits of your shooting.
When it comes to the various shooting modes and special scene modes you'll have numerous options for putting your mark on each image you take. Portrait helps to create an artistic feel so your subject pops. Toy Camera Effect makes your images look like they were taken with a pinhole camera, creating a vignetting effect. Another example is the Super Vivid mode for highly saturated scenes with ultra-bright colors.
When it comes to utilizing the Intelligent IS mode you have six different versions to choose from. Normal, Panning, Hybrid, Dynamic, Powered and Tripod each give you the right level of image stabilization for your specific situation, resulting in the steadiest image possible. Functions such as Face Detection and Smart Shutter also help to take the guess work out of shooting for well exposed faces and for fun and creative filters to add to your shots.
The camera's 1080p HD video capture function is a multifaceted feature. With the CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 4 Image Processor working together to capture high res footage that will look great on even the biggest HDTV, you'll have movies you'll be proud to show the entire family. And while shooting, the dedicated Movie Button starts and stops recording with just a touch - with no need to navigate through a menu or dial.
The ELPH 510 also supports iFrame, Apple's video format that boasts native support for both Mac and Windows video applications. This translates into no converting of video after you've shot. One more video feature is Canon's Movie Digest. This feature combines an entire day's worth of short clips into one video automatically and there's no post-production editing to be done. All you have to do is enjoy the memories.
When it comes to physical attributes, the 510 HS features a 3.2" PureColor touch screen LCD system. You'll see beautiful, rich color on the screen and enjoy the ease of touch screen navigation. The LCD also boasts a Touch Shutter function which allows you to release the shutter just by touching the screen. The lens on the 510 is a Genuine Canon 12x Zoom Lens. That's 12x optical zoom and a 28-336mm (35mm equivalent) wide-telephoto range. You'll be able to shoot groups, landscapes and everything in between with ease.
