Canon PIXMA G1200 MegaTank Single Function Printer

I have used half of the original ink, and it's giving me a 5B00 error. It's an error letting you know that the pads have filled with ink, and it needs to be replaced. I replaced the pads and realized there is no way to reset the counter. You have to spend more money to reset it. It's frustrating when your printer decides to not work right when you're trying to print photos for your family. I'll stick to a different brand of printers.

This printer is garbage. I have not used this printer for much more than one year, but I will either need to buy a new printer or send mine away for service. The issue being is that the spent ink pads are designed to be filled up and then needing replacement. The service can only be performed by an authorized dealer because they are the only ones with the ability to unlock the freeze the printer goes into when it detects the spent ink pads become saturated. Save yourself some grief and buy another printer...

I bought this as an investment because of the always rising cost of ink cartridges. Positives: so far it's been really great, after a month of near daily use I can only tell that the color levels have gone down a bit. I've had no issues with paper jamming, or miscellaneous errors. Negatives: The Print Garden software is easy to use, but EXTREMELY slow and freezes occasionally. The box this was shipped in was just the product box, and it was damaged to the point I spoke to customer service on if I should return it before setting up, but the product inside was undamaged due to solid packing.

Does not come with Wi-Fi. Does not come with a USB cable to setup. Canon has dropped the ball. Unbelievable. My wife and I don't recommend this printer.

I've been using ancient Canon printers for the last decade (example: ip4500, Pro9000mkII. Canon manufactured printheads are no longer available so my perfectly good dinosaurs became unusable. I decided after many months of frustration to try the G1200. I'm very happy with it for 3 reasons: 1) the amount of ink in the tanks, 2) the blacks and grays are closer to a "neutral" charcoal black than any of my previous printers, and 3) the paper chugs down the hopper evenly on double-sided printing so that the images are exactly centered.

A very nice printer. My wife has one, too, and she loves hers. We have been using Canon printers for 20 years or more, and always liked them. The G1200 is the lowest priced one of the Max printers, but works beautifully. Especially great are the out sized ink tanks, which last and last, and even when you have to buy ink, it is much more reasonable than bying the tiny, expensive cartridges we used to have to buy. I recommend this printer to anyone!

I have had Cannon printers for a long time. I usually wear them out but unfortunately this one semi failed at 10 months old . Printed failed in regular printing mode. Could only print in photo mode which in turn uses way more ink. After failing to fine a repair answer on line I called support . Have to admit best support I have ever dealt with. She asked a few questions did not force me to redo all the remedies I have already done. We did a few test I haven't done. . She determined in a timely matter the printer had to be replace. So they are sending me a new one with a per-paid label to return the old. Thank you Canon. I am giving this printer 4 because I think it is a good printer. Pictures print well text print very clear and precise. Overall I am very happy and would buy it again. If the second printer fails well then it will be a different story.

I love the amount of ink that this printer stores. I did not like that the cord that connects printer to the computer did not come with the product, especially since it cannot do WiFi or connect to a modem. After fixing the problem myself, the printer works great.

This started out good and I loved the ink tanks. Too bad the print head on the first one went out in under a year, but thankfully that meant it was under warranty. In less than six months on the new one I have had to perform a few cleanings and at least one deep clean. One was today after printing just twice after I already did a cleaning. It does not look good for this printer making it a year and for the price it just isn't worth it unless I get 2 or more years out of 1.

With the g1200 you can hardly go wrong! It is simple and easy and the quality is really nice for general home use. With the very low cost per photo I never nedd to think twice about printing an extra few prints for those who will appreciate them.

Light weight and kind of noisy, but it prints fine and does not use cartridges. Liked my old printer but at $ a cartridge it had to go. Bottles of ink that came with it were much larger than I expected. I may not use more than one or two more sets in my lifetime.

If you are a high and heavy user of ink - which I am, you would be foolish to use a cartridge based printer. I am thrilled with the quality but more than that I am glad to not spend all my hard earned cash at the office supply store for cartridges. I love this printer!!

I was sent this printer for free to review and the set up was a breeze...I was pleasantly surprised to see the how much ink the tanks could hold. The ink bottles were huge! This particular model is not wireless and must be connected by a USB cord to a PC. The quality of prints are superior to any printer I have ever owned. I even printed off a few photos and I was totally impressed. I don't have to refrain from printing anything trying to conserve ink anymore. The reservoir windows are located right on the front for viewing. No more running out of ink mid print project and just think of all the money you save! I've had the machine for two weeks now and have been using it daily, the ink levels haven't even budged. Canon really had the consumer in mind with this product, Thanks! I would totally recommend this product to anyone in need of a home printer.

My whole family was so excited to receive the Canon Pixma g1200 to try out, in exchange for our honest review. When it arrived, the printer was larger than I expected... I had to rearrange the computer desk for it to fit. Set up was quite easy, and my 5th grader loved pouring the ink into the storage wells. The ink storage is pretty impressive! I was skeptical about the claims on the box of up to 7000 copies on the same ink supply, but after seeing the capacity, I think they`re right. The copies are crisp and clean. My husband dislikes the wait time and my kids were surprised by the noise of printing. But, overall, I think it is a great printer. It also comes with great photo printing features. I look forward to many, many awesome copies with this Canon Pixma! Thank you, Canon!

Setting up the Canon PIXMA G1200 Printer was surprisingly simple with precise instructions that were easy to follow, assembly was quick and to the point, a necessity for us not so good assemblers. From unpacking, assembly and downloading the software it took a total of 15 mins. Some key functionalities I require in a printer are high-quality photo/image printing, speed, and long lasting ink usage. For images, the Image Garden software included with the printer, is one of the best features, a photo managing software that accommodates many different projects from ID photos to Calendar’s. Photos printed out with vibrate colors, detailed, no streaks, the quality of the printed photos are extremely good. I also like that you can place white carbon paper, or card stock of varying sizes and not encounter issues with paper or card stock getting stuck, which have happened numerous times with other printers. Printouts are relatively fast, I’m especially impressed with the speed when printing photos. I am looking forward to not having to replace ink every few months. It serves both personal and business needs. A feature that would have made this even better is Wi-Fi compatibility, although there are other Pixma printer models with Wi-Fi capabilities just not the G1200. What would be nice to see in later models is a digital counter to show approximately how many pages of printing is left, and a numerical visual aid to show the percentage of ink left until refill. Overall, the Canon PIXMA G1200 is efficient, produces quality prints, is well designed and a pleasantly quiet printer that is smaller, lighter and less bulky than many of its predecessors. I received the Canon PIXMA G1200 Printer as a part of the STARS research experience in exchange for my honest opinion.

The setup assembly of the printer was easy to follow with the included instructions. It probably took less than 30 minutes to go through the instructions. I used the setup guide online to connect the printer which was very easy to do. I decided to print a report for work and the print was very high quality. My favorite feature is that the printer is lightweight and not bulky. It fit perfectly on my small computer desk. I think this would be a great printer for a small home office. Ink cartridges would be preferred instead of refilling the ink tanks, but I think I may get more printing than from your average cartridge. I also look forward to saving on not buying ink cartridges. Printer would not be first choice due to refillable ink tanks, but overall good printer.

I should mention that I received a free sample for providing an open and honest review of the product. The Canon Pixma g1200 has been fun to use, and I've especially enjoyed the my image garden software that comes with it for photo printing. I've been very pleased with the easy of use and the speed of the printing. The set up probably took me all of 15-20 minutes when I first took it out of the box, which i don't consider to be a lot of time. The Canaon Pixma g1200 has a larger footprint on my desk than I expected and it isn't wi-fi enabled but otherwise I have nothing but good things to say and recommend this to anyone who does a lot of printing at home and needs a high quality product without expensive inks(the ink is refillable, less waste.

I was Blessed & very Graceful to receive a free Cannon G1200 for review and this Printer was OUTSTANDING. This is the BEST printer I ever had the chance to operate it is very efficient . I was amazed on how each printed page was a clear, crisp black print & sharp. Photos I printed was vivd & sharp plus it didn't have borders it was borderless. Putting ink in was located in the front of printer which was very convenient. It was very easy to do first, you remove top and squeeze bottle & close back. Ink has massive amount of ink 6,000 pages for color & 7,000 pages black & white & can last over a year or more which really save money on ink. This printer is efficient has a lot to offer easy to operate and has massive amount of ink to hold you for over a year of printing.

I received the Canon Pixma in return for writing a review. Upon receiving the box first noticed its very light weight. You will need to either purchase or already have on hand a USB cable. Since we had one from a previous printer we were able to use that. Set up was pretty easy. The only issue we had was putting the ink into the tanks. We had some ink spill but it was easily cleaned up. Once the ink was all in the wells we were ready to plug it in. I think the ability to refill the mega tanks is a huge plus. The bottles are spill proof and easy to fill the tanks. Ink refills seem reasonable at $18 for black and $12 for each of the colors The initialization took about 5-6 minutes and it was rather noisy. All in all it took maybe 15-20 minutes to get everything connected and it online and ready to print. We've done a few black and color print outs and the colors are crisp, no run, quick to dry ink. All in all its a compact size printer with a big capacity of print jobs.

Disclaimer: I received a free printer in exchange for my honest review of this product. I have used both inkjet and laser printers over the year and prefer inkjets for their rich colors they can produce for printing photos and high quality documents. The Canon Pixma G1200 is not only a superb printer, but is as very efficient. It can print over 6,000 pages in color and 7,000 pages in black with the HUGE reservoir tanks for holding the ink. Unlike a traditional inkjet that has small, yet expensive, cartridges the G1200 has tanks that hold large amounts of their refillable inks. No more having to buy your 3rd party refillable inks from an online store and risk damaging your print heads. The Canon refillable inks are easy to use and come in a no spill container. The setup and use of the printer is pretty standard; I will admit, I had to refer to the startup guide to do the printer initialization but was not difficult. After that the printer was ready to use. I immediately put in some glossy photo paper and started printing various sizes, styles, and colors of pictures and text. The printer handled it all and they came out looking amazing. Very crisp and vivid photos and sharp, clear text. Very impressed. The other series of this printer include in an all-in-one which would be even better. This printer is going to make a great addition, possibly replacement, to my other printers. I would highly recommend this to anyone that has a small business with need to print high quality documents and/or photos as well as families looking for a great reliable all-around printer. The savings with the ink alone will enough to justify the purchase of this printer. I give it 5 BRIGHT stars!

I received this printer for free in exchange for an honest review, and this is definitely my honest opinion! The printer is great, it has a sleek profile, I like how the paper is loaded from the top of the printer, and the ink is so cool! I've never experienced an ink system like the one in this printer, it is extremely satisfying to load the ink from the individual ink bottles and it seems to be more efficient than other ink cartridges because I don't believe any refill would have that amount of ink in it. It does a good job of printing documents in both color and black and white and seems like it would be able to crank out a lot of copies in a decent amount of time. I will say, however, that the printer did not come with a USB cord and does not connect to wifi. There isn't even an LCD screen, just 2 buttons to indicate power and alert. I was really surprised by this because I assumed that any printer these days would use wifi or at least connect to the internet with an ethernet cord. I'll have to get used to this aspect of it, but I think the efficiency of the printer will offset these detriments once I become more accustomed to it. I'm looking forward to using this printer for years to come!
