Great Camera
This is a true top of the line performing camera, exceptional image quality. The G7 offers serious photographers lots of options to be creative in the manual mode while the auto mode creates great every day images. Face detection software and image stabilization are two great features added to the latest G Series Canon DSC. I would buy the camera any day again, given the size and offered features you will be hard pressed to find an alternative.
The PowerShot G7 is compatible with many shooting accessories, not only wide & tele converter lenses, a waterproof case & High-Power Flash designed for all of the PowerShot models, but also Speedlite EX series that is compatible with all EOS series SLR cameras. By using Speedlites, the G7 is able to have extra functions such as autoflash metering, FE lock & Flash exposure compensation, continuous shooting with external flash & more.
The DIGIC III Image Processor is the latest advancement to Canon's proprietary DIGIC technology, delivering superior image quality, ultra-responsive performance & extended battery life. DIGIC III provides a speedier interface for the G7's SD memory card as well as higher definition for its LCD monitor.
DIGIC III also empowers Face Detection AF/AE, which finds all the faces in the frame & sets the most suitable focus point, when the shutter button is depressed half-way. Exposure & flash are controlled to ensure proper illumination of both the faces and the overall scene, eliminating the common problem of darkened or overexposed faces.
iSAPS Technology is an entirely original scene-recognition technology developed for digital cameras by Canon. Using an internal database of thousands of different photos, iSAPS works with the fast DIGIC III Image Processor to improve focus speed & accuracy, as well as exposure & white balance.
