I had this Hand Strap before so when I bought a Canon 7D with power winder, I had to get another strap.

I have to confess that I ordered one off eBay for 15 bucks and received a cheap counterfeit that was boxed and made to look like a genuine Canon product. The blurry printing on the fake Canon box was the first hint. There was no way that I was going to put that trash on my costly camera and have it break and my camera fall to the ground. The real Canon product, from Adorama, is far superior in build to the fake. Though expensive; you pay for peace of mind.

Canon has changed the design of this strap. I don't like a neck strap. I feel secure in holding my camera with this hand strap

I had ordered this with my new Canon 6D camera. It's very comfortable, and I don't feel my camera is going to slip out of my fingers to easy. Thankfully that's never happened. But this strap gives me a little more insurance with longer lenses. The only thing that you can't seem to do is use the around the neck camera strap that comes with a camera and this strap at the same time. Hmmm...unless you added a clip on device on the right side. But maybe two straps could be little awkward for some. If you're shooting portraits this strap alone gives you a lot more freedom and more safer too. I'm glad I bought it. it's good quality. Good job Canon! I just bought a Canon 6D WOW what a camera. I've been buying from Adorama since 2007 I'm shooting with the Canon 70-200 f/4L IS lens and this strap gives me a lot of freedom by itself. Get it! While it's a little more expensive then compatibles, it's very comforable for my small hand and you can tighten it as much as you want. It's worth it.

The Canon E2 hand strap can be used together with the regular camera strap while an off-brand one cannot.

Using and carrying a camera with a "hand strap" takes a little getting used to. But, once you do get used to it, you won't want to go back to the 'ol neck strap. It's more secure than a neck strap and gives the feel that you have more control over the camera.

I like using a handstrp rather than a neck strap. This Canon version does not work as well as the original HS for Canon film SLRs. Hard to install and does not allow as much hand movement as the old model. impossible to use in vertical position. If you like using a HS this is your only choice. I suspect I will have to go back to a neck strap in time.
