Impossible to connect to a new computer

I recently bought a new computer and I cannot connect this printer to it. I download the installer for the driver and connect to the computer via USB, and it says the printer is not detected! This is so frustrating because I know my computer is recognizing that the printer is connected, but the installer refuses to recognize it. On top of this, I can't find any support on Canon's website to resolve the issue.

Disappointing

I bought this printer for the express purpose of printing on cd/dvd. Imagine my surprise when I found there was NO cd/dvd printing tray in the box. Although this may be available separately, this printer is advertised as having capability to print on cd/dvd and the “in the box” items described for this printer includes cd/dvd tray for printing. Not in my box!

Love the PIXMA iP7220 - Very Happy With it!

I've been using the PIXMA iP7220 for the last ten years or so...I've gone through a couple due to my heavy printing, but I always come back to this Canon Model. For the most part it's been maintenance free. It's always nice to have the ability to print on both sides and to print to the edge for my posters and art prints. I highly recommend this model. I also own the 8700 and the 6820 due to the nature of my business.

Best printer ever made

Auto duplex, dual trays for regular paper and photo paper, full WiFi/AirPrint support . . . what more could anyone want?! Why did Canon discontinue this?! Why?!

Need CD Printer

Not many printers still support Direct CD Printing. For that this printer has done well. The Image Garden software is not that powerful for Graphics, so do that with an external program and then feed the artwork to Image Garden. I worked for several hours with Canon Rep and we could not get this printer to connect to Win7 PC, so I gave up and used a 50 foot USB cable to connect.

Prints Great when it wants to......

I have had to replace this printer 3 times already in 4yrs. The Print-head is faulty. You can replace it and clean it all you want it still over time starts to print the areas it wants. I would go with another printer

nice printer

I bought the ip7220 to replace the ix6820 as the ix6820 was not able to be repaired per a conversation with a Canon rep. After not even two years having the ix6820 i find it hard to believe that it just suddenly quit working and needless to say I was very upset as I had to order a new one. The ip7220 prints good photos but it doesn’t have the 12x12 format which I used a lot.

Great printer, just not reliable.

I am now on my second Ip7220 printer. When it works, it works really good. The problem is I have to keep replacing it after the warranty runs out. The first one just won't turn on. The second one still has the movie disk that I have been working on for the last two week stuck inside the printer. Nothing support suggested worked. Now I have to find a replacement printer. But not a Canon, thats for sure. I really can't recomend this printer for this reason. Oh, the tech support is first class, just wish the printer was.

Horrible in capability, speed of print & cost/page

This printer is only good for one thing: Prints decent pictures but if you don't mind the time it takes to do so. Other than that, name any aspect, and you will be disappointed! Because it is not economic to run (expensive ink this printer does not deserve more than one star.

Easy to use great quality!

I bought this printer to use at a convention. I'm a photographer and I was in crazy need of a printer that would print on super glossy paper and I also needed it to the edge of the paper. Grest quality was needed! This printer is awesome! Took me minutes to setup. I had print testing issues, but that was honestly my error, not the printer. I'm not exactly tech savvy. But this printer is super awesome! I found out first hand that any bad review from users are people who just didn't understand how to put the printer together. When I say that this thing was easy, I mean it. User friendly for sure!

HORRIBLE

Printer shuts off by itself. NOWHERE in the documentation can I find how to stop this from happening. DVD/CD printing is so UNRELIABLE as to be USELESS. The instructions say to "do not insert DVD carrier until prompted." Guess what? YOU ARE NEVER PROMPTED TO INSERT THE DVD CARRIER--THE PRINTER JUST PRINTS YOUR DVD ARTWORK ON A SHEET OF PAPER. AT this point I am strongly considering returning it. To summarize: HORRIBLE PRODUCT. HORRIBLE SOFTWARE. HORRIBLE SUPPORT

2nd PIXMA ip 7220

This little printer is my second ip 7220 and it worked perfectly, right out of the box; itruns fast enough to satisfy my requirements and printing on both sides of the paper is a big plus, photos come out that are suitable for framing with realistic colors, all in all, a perfect solution for my humble printing needs !

Won’t feed paper most of the time

Bought because it had duplex printing- which is great if you can get the paper to feed. Totally want to do the bounce test with it!

Extremely Unreliable Networking Functionality

It's hard to set up for use over a LAN (and I'm an advanced user and difficult to keep it functioning properly. Often it will simply be "offline" even after rebooting and connecting to the WiFi network. Also it does a terrible job of dealing with multiple users who each have their own print queue: If any person on the network still has a document in their print queue, it won't let anyone else print...extremely frustrating.

Excellent printer for Color or B&W

I have had this printer for 5 years. It has beautiful color and superb B&W text and graphic depictions. It has no scan, copy or fax capabilities but will print from wireless connection from any other computer/digital device without connection to it's home computer. But it has failed in March 2018 with a B200 code that cannot be economically repaired. But I am purchasing another new one because I still have over $100. in unused ink cartridges. I would give this unit 5 stars if it had lasted another year.

Terrible for discs

I have had this for a year. Purchased it for disc printing exclusively. We are very happy with another brand for general and photo printing. Our other printer performs nearly flawlessly and its software does not require you to purchase their brand of ink. That alone is shameful. You are required to use Canon ink if you want to print discs. It is totally unreliable in printing discs. It consumes inordinate amounts of ink and the paper trays have very limited capacity, but then what is a printer for?

Slow warmup, but solid printing

Two years use, and problem free. Good text, good photos. I like the separate photo paper tray. I learned years ago that if I wanted to avoid paper handling problems, it is best to use 24 pound paper. The trouble of lightweight paper is not worth saving a penny for every four sheets. If it has not been used in a while it can take more than a minute to warm up. I have used several brands of cartridges, some dirt cheap, with no problems.

Won't print greeting cards, uneven margins

I bought this to print art prints and greeting cards. It is too limited on paper size and will not work with 10x7 scored card stock. Alsp margons ate uneven in every size...Image prints off center no matter what template or program I use. Print quality is good. But margin and layout problems make it impossible to use for what I need.

Uses ink at a prodigious rate

The printer uses a lot of ink in cleaning print heads and not printing. I have gone through at least 4 sets of cartridges and printed less than 200 pages - mainly text. It also takes quite a bit of time to print first page, probably because it is using up all the ink cleaning the heads. After first page it prints quickly. I do make sure that I either turn off printer or let it turn itself off. Quality of print seems fine. I have not done pictures with it, because color ink is always gone by the time I think about printing picture. It does not like to print black and white if color cartridges are empty.

Excellent printer

I'm really surprised at the negative reviews for this printer. Like other Canon products I've owned, I find the ip7220 to be truly excellent. Some of the complaints I've read are ridiculous. One person said his scanner didn't work when the ink was out. THERE IS NO SCANNER ON THIS MODEL!. Also, all printers use ink... that's how they print. The disc printing feature works flawlessly on any printable disc I've used, and I've printed on several hundred discs. People should know that the discs must be labeled "ink jet printable" in order to work. This is a great machine. Read the manual, follow the instructions.

Best Printer for Photos

I bought this printer almost a year ago and at the time the only complaint was the ink usage, other than that, it was rated the best printer for photos...per the reviews. Over the past 8-9 months, I have printed numerous photos and I am here to tell you that this is by far the best photo printer I have ever owned (and I have several printers. I haven't noticed any excessive ink use, which surprises me, but to the reviews that complain about ink use, I would suggest using a different, inferior printer and be happy with inferior photo quality. If you want excellent photos then logic would dictate that you need to use the necessary ink to accomplish the feat. This is the only printer that I know will do that-at least for personal use. Highly recommended.

unrelated functions result in work stop

The scanner refuses to work if you are out of ink. This is the first scanner I have owned that won't scan a document to an electronic file if the printer needs ink. There is no relationship between these two functions. The printer also consumes ink like no tomorrow, and yes, i know how to econo print and such when needed. This was my first Canon printer. They do know cameras...I am very happy with their camera products. This is my "moderated" second review of this printer after my first review was removed. A review that was factual though not supportive of this printer. I had hoped for a response like, "Wow, we didn't know that and that is a silly thing to happen. We will be working on our software to assure that scanning doesn't require ink, as we agree...scanning and printing should be independent functions on this product. Canon regrets the inconvenience."

Pitiful Disc Printing Utility

I bought it for on-disc printing, to my old robotic disc printer. If you're hoping to print on any kind of discs with the iP7220, as it's advertised to do, be sure to buy a nice-sized hammer along with it. You'll want it for either bashing yourself on the forehead, or smashing the printer - depending on your philosophical leanings. When you manage to get it to work, the print quality is quite nice. When it doesn't want to cooperate, it's hammer time.

My second one!

I got one of this model when it was first available and it has performed wonderfully. After years of hard use printing everything from photos to CDs to just plain text pages it was starting to show wear and tear. So I bought another one just like the first at an outstanding price. It, too, is performing great! The service from Adorama is also great. Need I say that i'm happy with the whole deal.

VERY-VERY GOOG TO PRINT PHOTOS

I never use wireless I put any new photo I have taken with camera chip. I don't print direct because I have to EDIT the Photos with Edit software. I some noise this is because the printer cleans the print head and the cartridges and generally makes the preparation for print. This is what they teach me when I took 3 months classes for print and edit photos. T...
