I am very satisfied with the LH-DC60 hood for my SX40. I like the easy pressure & twist attachment operation mode which makes it quick to prepare for shooting. This hood is really needed when the lens is at its considerable telephoto extension during which the use of hand shading is impossible given the needed camera steadiness requiring both hands.I don't know why my camera did not come with this hood but I am glad I now have it.

Spouse picked up a Canon refurbished SX520 HS. I already had a LH-DC60 knock-off on my SX50 HS, so I gave her that one and ordered the genuine article from Adorama. I had some cashback reward credit from a previous purchase, which cinched my decision. As for the hood, functionally it is exactly the same. It appears to be made of a better grade of plastic than the knock-off. It feels less brittle, and is not as shiny. Aside from that they are identical. Is it worth the premium price? I really can't say. If it wasn't for the reward perk I had, I'd probably not have ordered it. For the price I got it at, however, I am happy with it. I recommend using a hood as a first line of defense against bumping against things that might damage the front of the lens.

This sun shield did not work for me. It does not work while using a filter adapter with filter on the lens, so it wasn't really worth it for me as I photograph often in scenes where I like to use a polarizing filter. It is also very short, I'm not sure it would do much in the way of shielding a bright sun.

Small but efficient lens hood for my sx50 canon. Tight fit is good as other attachments sometimes are to loose.

I have two SXis Power Shots. A 10,which came with a hood,and a 30 which did not. I've been using the same hood for both. I now have one for each. The new one fits and works just as well as the original. Great price---very pleased.

Installing this lens hood was easy & straight forward. I recently put my camera with the hood attached to good use videoing a "running deer" at the PA Bowfestival. Result: no lens sun flare shows in the two short videos.

I am surprised that Canon could offer this lens hood knowing most people use a filter to protect the lens. This hood does not connect to a filter.

I was initially disappointed with this very small hood because it let light in. But I quickly purchased a second one after the first one shattered when taking the brunt of a hard impact. Definitely saved my camera. Average performance as a lens hood, but I sure bought a replacement.

Strangely small for a lens hood. Either the 1st one I purchased came from a bad lot, or Canon needs to redesign: it allows a bit of light in several areas, a very poor fit. BUT IT SAVED MY CAMERA from a very hard bump that would have broken the lens if this hood had not taken the brunt of the impact. The hood shattered, but my camera's lens and electronics were not affected. Not it's intended use, but I quickly purchased a second one. Less light comes thru the edges of lens hood number two, perhaps an improvement from Canon.
