Best refurbished product Ive ever bought

Its a great camera for the price. It lacks an optical viewfinder, but if your purchasing this, you already know that. Takes great photos, and is a great beginner mirrorless camera.

Pictures as good as my DSLR at 1/3 of the weight!

This little camera is amazing! I received this camera as a gift but my daughter ended up taking it before I could ever use it. As a professional photographer, I continued using my DSLR's and never thought another thing about it until I read the reviews, I immediately took it back! My daughter used it for everything, all she did was complain that I took "her" camera so I bought this second one to give back to her. The images are crisp, clear, and the colors are vivid. With the photos being the same size as those from my DSLR's, I find myself grabbing this little lightweight gem more often than my larger heavier cameras. A nice bonus is with the adapter I can use my pro series lenses on the M3, although they look odd on the small camera body.

Great Purchase

I bought this camera a month ago for a trip to Spain and I'm glad I bought it. The body was in excellent conditions and the lens as well. Saved a lot of money by buying a refurbished camera.

Canon M3 first impressions

As a loyal Canon owner, I am excited to add the new M3 to my collection. My wife has been looking for a lightweight replacement for her Canon xsi and has found it in the new M3. It has the flip out view screen like my Canon S4IS and my Powershot SX1. It's loaded with features like wireless pic transfer and HDR. We can use all our Canon lenses with this camera. Pictures look awesome and I look forward to using the camera more.

Light weight - Easy to use for basic uses

I have a t6s, and wanted a spare camera to use beside it. I got first a M2. It was not what I was looking for, so I resold it immediately and got the M3 with the 18/55IS STM. I just love it. It was a little tricky to set the WIFI, but thank you YouTube. I have installed the "Canon Connect" app on my cellphone and now I can use BOTH camera with my cellphone as remote. I just have to choose the Wifi corresponding to the camera. It works also with the computer. What I do recommend, is to read the user's guide completely. That seem evident, but I never did before with all my precedent Canon cameras. And I can tell you, THAT HELP!. That said, Most of the options are intuitive. My biggest restriction is about the flipping screen. Why Canon did not set a fully flipping one, like on some other cameras like the t6s or the G12 for example? I will definitely recommend this camera to friends. Last advantage, with the M/S adaptor, I can use all my "big" lenses on the M3.

So What's NOT to Like?

For the most part this is a great camera. I bought mine with both the optional electronic viewfinder as well as the EF lens adapter (great bundle price from Adorama). 24 megapixels and all my EF lenses work great on this camera using the adapter. The electronic viewfinder is a must-have for me because I like to use older, manual focus lenses at times. The viewfinder eliminates the glaring sun problem the rear LCD can often create. The digital zoom feature, which allows for both a 5X or 10X view is GREAT for helping insure perfect focus every time. So what's NOT to like? Not much...but sometimes small is just too small. In the case of the M3 the rear buttons are too easily hit by mistake, especially the one on the bottom right. It's frankly hard to hold the camera and NOT hit this button. The buttons themselves are poorly designed in that being flush with the camera body they provide almost no feel so you find yourself having to look at a button to make sure it's really the one you want to push. I would prefer that the camera be just SLIGHTLY bigger...big enough to allow for GOOD buttons with GOOD feel. After all, this really isn't a pocket camera once you put a lens on it. My only other wish list item would be for the camera to have image stabilization built into the camera. Yes, thanks to the EF lens adapter I CAN use my image stabilized Canon lenses...but how nice it would be if ALL of my lenses, even the old manual focus ones, could get the benefit of IS. Sony (A7II) and Olympus offer mirrorless cameras that have image stabilization built into the camera body...and I wish Canon would do the same.

Little camera with big features.

This is a great camera. Bought for a back-up. Great image quality and features like the higher end canons. old and new lenses work great (with the right adapters). Video - no 4K, but the 1080 is beautiful. Highly recommend!

Terrible Autofocusing

Got this camera to have another Vlog camera, the biggest features are the removable lens capability, mic input, and the flip up screen. Everything was great until I tried using the Autofocus for interviews and "selfie" style recording, the autofocus takes seconds at a time to correct itself which renders it useless without a camera operator. The audio quality out of the camera isnt bad at all and using it fully manual you can really tell the aps-c sensor is working well in this small body. However the autofocusing really kills this camera for any other use rather than full manual modes. The 24 megapixels shine when you start using the manual mode and the ability to use an adapter to use EF lenses really makes it an awesome camera for photographs.

Great quality small camera

Amazing camera. Even tho it is a smaller DSLR it is completely worth the price. Such great quality photos in the palm of your hand. The lense it comes with is great and I like having the option of changing the lenses which is unusual with a small DSLR. Shipping was so fast and I'm in love. Thanks Adorama!

My new 'default' camera.

I've been shooting with and original 7D since it came out. I love it but it is heavy on long hikes. I got the M3 to use hiking but in truth, I have hardly used the 7D since buying the M3. In most respects it is a better camera. My one complaint, The tilting LCD. Why oh why did Canon not make it fully articulated? Both the screen and the add on EVF tilt but neither helps if you are shooting a vertical format image from down low.

Love the M3

I have used the M3 for a few months and it is a great camera producing great pictures at an excellent price level. This is a upgrade for me unlike some of you are coming down from DSLR's. The camera is easy to carry and travel with and I don't see myself ever carrying a large DSLR as this camera does it all. I love it.

Know what you are getting this for...

This is not a DSLR and does not try to be so don't expect it to be. I own other Canon DSLRs and numerous lenses. As mentioned in other reviews this is a great walk around camera. Sometimes you just don't want to lug around a full size camera when out exploring. There is a limit to what a camera phone can do. This bridges the gap between camera phones and DSLRs quite nicely. Know what you want from a camera and this one won't disappoint. I bought the EVF-DC2 and had to upgrade the firmware, Easy to do.

Back in the Game!

Light weight! GREAT! Awesome! My first high powered versatile Digital Camera since the last century! Truly! My shoot and point camera recently broke... for a reason. I'm back in the game of professionalism again! Excited to share my view of what my life is about now! A learning curve, but I will make it through! Determination and the right camera and company will take me there! Thank you Cannon!

I really WANTED to like this camera...

I was really hoping this would be a good lightweight alternative for travel and casual photography. There are so many things that are likable about this camera, but at the end of the day it is just too slow to focus and the low-light performance isn't up to par. I also didn't like the EVF taking up my hot-shoe, meaning you can either have an external flash, or an EVF, but NOT both.

Canon EOS M3

The M3 was purchased as a gift for my daughter. She enjoys the upgrade from the M2, noting that the camera has a quicker focus time and the color depth is richer. Enjoying macro photography, she appreciates the tilt screen for easier composition. She appreciates the option of using an electronic viewfinder too, especially since she prefers to go on photo shoots "as light as possible." It's great to know that this was a gift that will be used and appreciated for the cameras specs in covering her needs. :)

Excellent Camera!!

This is an excellent camera! Use it for what it's made for, a walk around camera. This is not a replacement for a professional camera. I have other Canon cameras, 5DIII, 6D, & 7D. I bought the M3 so I wouldn't have to lug a heavy professional camera around all the time. So, I wonder why people expect to get a $4K camera out of a $600 camera. Learn the camera's features, it has a lot.

The M3 is larger, feels good in the hands, has more features and better picture, and is still a light and portable B-cam

I previously owned a set of original EOS M cameras for use as video B-cameras on interview reels and corporate videos. I upgraded the B-cameras to a set of EOS M3's earlier this year and have been generally happy with the upgrade. The big pro's over the original EOS M's are that the M3's have a much better sensor, the LCD is now flexible (which is a lifesaver when using on a glidecam rig), and the in-camera adjustments are much more user-friendly. The M3 now allows for native focus peaking without the need to install Magic Lantern, which finally allows realistic use of manual FD lenses (the original M could use FD lenses with a converter, but without focus peaking, trying to pull focus on a tiny LCD was not realistic). I have found the peaking to be very accurate and the shots much improved on the M3. This camera seems to have more of that classic Canon midrange tone and matches up much better with DSLR shots than my original M. The battery life on the M3 is much improved over the original, though I still prefer aftermarket extended batteries. On the minus side, Canon still seems to lag the competition when it comes to video capture resolution. The Sony A7S and Panasonic G7 are in the same general class and both shoot 4k video in a compact, mirrorless setup, yet the Canon still tops out at 1080p @ 29.97fps. To shoot at 60fps, max resolution is 720. The lens selection is also rather slim, though with adapters, you can tap into the EF/EF-S range as well as classic FD lenses. It's still a huge improvement over the original M series. The M3 is larger, feels good in the hands, has more features and better picture, and is still a light and portable B-cam.

Sleeping Giant

This is probably the best, underrated camera around. Especially when used with manual focus lenses. Starting off with a 24 meg sensor, and "focus peaking" from the video format. Throw in the DC-1 viewfinder (no clunky mirrorbox, and you have an 80D without the weight or size - that you can focus without a "screen".

Perfect for

I bought this camera to use in underwater photography. Due to housings lacking a view finder window having a good quality camera designed not to use one is a big bonus. While not great for moving subjects I have found the M3 is more than capable of taking great pictures. Easy to use, pro level features, and a compact lightweight body make this a great product.

Greate Camera

By horaciovel

I bought this camera 2 month ago. The image quality is amazing, very ergonomic, fit like a glove. With the 22mm lens is amazing. Is a mini tank. Is a serious update from the previous M version.

Designed to inspire, the EOS M3 digital camera brings true EOS performance and image quality to a compact, stylish and elegant package. A pleasure to operate, with the sophistication to create stunning still and moving images, the EOS M3 is an ideal EOS for many applications, such as portraiture, landscape, travel and everything in between.

With its large 24.2 Megapixel APS-C sized CMOS sensor and DIGIC 6 Image Processor, the EOS M3 captures high-resolution images and Full HD movies suitable for most any application. Its lightweight, mirrorless body and interchangeable lenses add a whole new level of portability to the EOS system without compromising performance.

In addition to a number of dedicated EF-M Lenses, the EOS M3 is compatible with a range of EF and EF-S Lenses and Speedlites, has an optional shoe-mounted electronic viewfinder, wireless capabilities, plus numerous features designed for fun and fast image capture. The EOS M defies the assumption that compact means compromise, with performance and features photographers and moviemakers can rely on to help bring their creative ideas to life.

The power and versatility of EOS in a compact and stylish design.

Sleek, with the Power to Perform
Wonderfully lightweight and compact, the EOS M3 is both stylish and speedy while including a host of proven EOS controls. It can be appealing to anyone who appreciates a portable, mirrorless body but wants interchangeable lenses, a large sensor and the manual controls and image quality associated with the EOS line. Similarly, for photographers used to carrying larger SLR cameras who want something smaller as a companion or as a solo camera, the EOS M3 operates and performs similarly to SLRs in the EOS system. In addition to EF-M series Lenses, it's also compatible with a number of EOS accessories including EF Lenses*, Speedlites and more for powerful, seamless EOS operation that's incredibly portable.

The Power to Capture Stunning Movies and Photographs

24.2 Megapixel Sensor
The EOS M3 features a 24.2 Megapixel (APS-C) sensor capable of capturing large image and movie files. At 24.2 Megapixels, the EOS M's sensor delivers images suitable for enlargements with sufficient resolution for significant trimming. Whether making poster-sized prints, zooming in on a particular detail or making Full HD movies, the EOS M3's sensor is primed to deliver. An ISO range of 100-12800 (expandable to 25600) means images can be captured with low noise and high detail, even in dimly lit situations.

DIGIC 6 Image Processor
Complementing the EOS M3's CMOS sensor, Canon's DIGIC 6 Image Processor not only speeds up camera operations, but also helps enhance a number of the camera's advanced features. The DIGIC processor aids the camera's sensor in capturing detailed images with reduced noise at high ISOs and enables high-quality movie capture with a number of different movie compressions including MP4. On top of that, it enhances the camera's Dynamic Image Stabilization system and even helps improve the AF system's face detection accuracy.

Hybrid CMOS AF III helps provide fast and accurate focusing for stills and videos.

Consistent, Spot-on AF
A fusion of AF technologies designed to quickly achieve and maintain AF, the EOS M3's Hybrid CMOS AF III system is impressively fast, delivering comprehensive and accurate AF coverage over approximately 80% (vertical) and 70% (horizontal) of the entire image. With an optimized phase difference AF sensor built into the EOS M3's CMOS sensor's individual pixels, along with a secondary contrast detection system, the EOS M3's focus system is equipped to focus quickly and accurately in many situations.

Front Dial and Exposure Compensation Dial help provide full manual control and offer customizable functions as well as improved operability and ease of use.

Fast, Intuitive Controls
Capable of creating superb stills and movies automatically, the EOS M3 offers a number of control options for speedy manual operation. The camera features a Front Dial that's placed directly around the shutter button and is complemented by a dedicated Exposure Compensation Dial positioned within easy reach of the camera's thumb grip. In addition, the EOS M3 has numerous custom functions, including user-programmable shortcuts, customizable buttons and much, much more. It's comfortable to hold, with a fluid and ergonomic design that's familiar to EOS users.

More Operations at Your Fingertips

3.0" Tilt-type LCD Monitor
The EOS M3 has a large, high-resolution, 3.0" LCD monitor that tilts up 180° and down 45°, ideal for composing not only self portraits, but also for taking pictures at high and low angles with ease.

Intuitive Touch Screen for Selfies and Easy Menu Navigation
The EOS M3's touch screen is not just for defining AF points and for selfies! Designed to be accessible without hindering access to the lens and shutter button, the EOS M3's touch screen is fast and easy to use for many operations. With a Quick Control screen like those found on other EOS cameras and a number of functions superimposed over the image in a "U" pattern, settings are easily accessible without taking a finger away from the shutter or altering your grip on the camera. It's easy to change the camera's settings while maintaining the ability to quickly take a picture.

EOS Compatibility for Creative Control
While a number of lenses and accessories are designed specifically for the EOS M series, the EOS M3 is also fully compatible with over 70 of Canon's EF and EF-S Lenses plus other EOS accessories like Speedlites, Speedlite Transmitters and even Macro Ring Lites. Whether the EOS M3 is a primary or secondary camera, it boasts smooth compatibility with a wide range of EOS accessories.

Electronic Viewfinder (EVF-DC1) (Sold Separately)
In addition to its compatibility with EOS accessories and Speedlites, the EOS M3 is compatible with Canon's high-resolution Electronic Viewfinder EVF-DC1. Easily attached to the camera's hot shoe, the 2.36 Megapixel EVF-DC1 can tilt up 90°, and for photographers who wish to hold the camera up to their eye, it helps the EOS M3 deliver operation and feel similar to that of an SLR. Especially helpful in bright sunlight, or in situations where composing on the screen is not convenient, the EVF-DC1 can be an indispensible accessory for the EOS M3.

External Microphone Jack
For expanded operations including Full HD movie recording, the EOS M3 features not only a built-in stereo microphone but also an external microphone jack that adds a level of versatility and convenience for moviemaking.

Full HD Videos at 24p and 30p in MP4 Format
The EOS M3 can capture 1920x1080 Full HD video at frame rates of both 24p and 30p, and can record in MP4 format for easy sharing online.

Moviemaking Made Easy with Manual Movie Control
The EOS M3 is a fine moviemaking tool. With touch-activated AF and a number of manual controls available, it's easy to make intuitive setting adjustments silently and on the fly using the EOS M3's dial, controller wheel and touch operations. The EOS M3's external microphone jack adds further versatility to capturing video.

Versatile Wireless Communication

Built-in Wi-Fi
The EOS M3 is designed to make Wi-Fi connections fast and easy. It can exchange data with other Wi-Fi compatible Canon cameras, connect directly to Canon's Connect Station CS100 device, upload directly to various web services like CANON iMAGE GATEWAY, Facebook and YouTube, and even play back images and movies on DLNA-compatible digital electronics.

Built-in NFC Capability
With its built-in NFC (Near Field Communication) capability, the EOS M connects directly to NFC-compliant Android devices by simply touching the NFC icon located on the camera to the device.

Remote Shooting & Wireless Printing
With the Canon Camera Connect app installed, the EOS M3 connects and can be controlled by your compatible smartphone or tablet for simple remote shooting. Plus, it can also connect and print directly to IP-compatible printers.

Creative Photographic Options
With its built-in Creative Assist feature, the EOS M3 makes it simple to change camera settings in real time and see the effects as they happen. Whether adjusting brightness, sharpness, contrast, color tone and intensity or even moving to monochromatic images, the EOS M3 makes it easy for novices and professionals alike to find just the right look to match the emotion or tone of the image.

Up to six personal settings can be saved and applied anytime when composing other images. Additionally, images shared from other photographers canbe imported into the EOS M3, which can then display their settings and even apply them to the scene at hand. By helping the photographer to understand how different settings affect the look and feel of the photo or video, the EOS M3 can be an excellent learning tool.

Speed, Built-in
Don't let its compact size deceive-the EOS M3 is a fast and powerful camera. The EOS M3 captures images at up to 4.2 frames per second, even full-resolution RAW files! From still life to action photography and everywhere in between, the EOS M is ready to go.
