I don?t understand the reviews. Am I missing something? When I take pictures, it?s no better than my iphone8. It barely zooms in too and the picture quality is nothing more than a regular camera quality. Why are people saying how great the quality is? Maybe I?m missing some special setting, but my iPhone zooms in just as much as this camera and there is nothing special about the quality. Someone tell me what I am doing wrong with this thing? Biggest waste of money. No wonder the photographer was selling it and said he barely used it.

Over the past dozen years I've owned three EOS dSLR cameras. I wanted to shift to a more compact, mirror-less camera while making minimal comprises. The the EOS M6 EF-M 18-150mm kit has exceeded my expectations. It packs all the necessary functionality into a very compact camera. I'm probably an outlier, but I do wish it had built-in GPS or at least supported the external GP-E2. I also expect that I'll want to add either the EVF-DC1 or EVF-DC2 viewfinder as I doubt I'll be satisfied relying on the LCD for outdoor shots.

I absolutely love this camera. It really is perfect in so many ways. The image quality is amazing, the size and weight are exactly what I need, and the camera can be customized in many ways. This is the perfect camera for someone looking to have one of the smallest and lightest interchangeable lens cameras that has full manual controls. That's the primary target audience. If you're looking for the most weather-proof and robust camera, or a camera with a large footprint and ergonomics for large hands, etc., then you should look elsewhere in Canon's camera line. If you're looking for small and light with excellent manual controls and outstanding image quality, then this is your camera. If you have an existing collection of Canon's lenses, either full-frame EF or APS-C EF-S, this camera will take them both with an adapter, which is incredible. Almost all of the camera's buttons can be completely customized to fit your shooting style. I've changed just about every button on the camera to do something else. The EF-M lenses have been great so far. I have the 15-45mm, which is a great all-around general purpose lens. The 22mm pancake lens makes this a super-small and light walkaround all-day lens. The 32mm F1.4 takes amazing portraits with beautiful background blur. This camera has been just perfect for my needs. I have a heavier, larger full-frame camera for when image quality is of utmost importance above all-else. I use the M6 for carrying around all-day, travel, vacations, family photos, and videos. (Speaking of video don't forget to set the video for 60fps, which has much better quality than 30fps. If I were forced to say something negative so people don't think this review is fake, haha, I would say the autofocus in burst mode is not the best. But I don't know how many people are buying this camera with the primary intent being sports and action. There are other cameras in Canon's line better suited for that. Apart from that though, the camera has been amazing. Overall, if you plan to use the camera like I do, as a small, light camera for general purpose photography, this camera is awesome. .

We've owned several of the EOS cameras (EOS M3 and M6. Photographing our cars for the internet requires quality and quantity and the EOS line delivers both. We can count on them for durability in all kinds of weather, and we shoot about 8,000 images per month on each of our 3 cameras! The customer service (when needed) has been excellent too.

Great value bundle with the included mic. Be aware the screen facing forward is not usable with the mic attached to the top of the camera.

I have an original model Canon EOS M that I've been using about 4 years mostly for taking pics and video (w/an external mic of local indie bands. I always have to post-process the footage due to the extreme lighting and sound conditions, but the results usually have been good despite its fussy focusing and not great low light performance. It was getting a bit worn so when I saw the big sale on the M6 model, I thought that seemed like a safe replacement. Unfortunately, while the focusing was way better than the M, and low light IQ a little bit better, the audio performance with the external mic was definitely worse than the M's: sharper roll-off at the low end and a sharp clip at about 17kHz while the M's high end rolled off past 20kHz -- this was super disappointing and a deal killer, so I sent it back while I could. While the audio performance was not awful and unusable, it was just so annoying to find it inferior to that of the model M, which is 5 yrs older.

Little did I know Canon now wants you to wifi and cloud everything. A cable to directly connect to my computer would be nice. Also recognition of these newer Canon's in photoshop and windows without clumsy downloads would be helpful.

Here's the thing. I do not always need a bigger camera. When I can put my professional lenses on this little guy, I achieve the same results and still exceed my client's expectations. Additionally, I can use the smaller lenses and travel through the crowd and be less obtrusive. This is a great small shoot, travel light, easy to use camera. The images that come off are crisp, vivid and capture the detail I am looking for. I highly recommend this camera!

When I bought it, Canon was even more expensive than SONY. I thought the price included memory CARDS, but I had to buy the memory CARDS myself.Batteries are also not durable?

Awesome camera, striking silver vintage look, amazing image quality with an apsc (7D, 80D, Rebel sized sensor, super simple, convenient size especially with the ef-m 22mm 2.0, and full featured. Loved my first M, love this one more, M6 times more.

I own and shoot with the original M and the M3; the M6 is a game changer! The autofocus is quick and accurate and I bought the one with silver trim and it looks awesome too!

I am a travel and street photographer. I have no interest in the SLR style camera. What I was looking for was good image quality and the APSc size and weight. Over some other brands, the current Canon lenses are few, but the ones available are very good. I keep the 22 on 90% of the time. I like making believe this camera is a cell-phone and the lack of the EVF allows me to look like a tourist to the world and shoot with good control, reasonable dynamic range and excellent optics. The software and GPS functionality is reliable in my usage. I like a quick image transfer now and a delayed deliberative look on the computer later. I have enough manual controls, would like a bit more customization to the exposure triangle with a minimum shutter speed, but it seems to favor 1/60 as slow, so, I can make do. I really appreciate the light weight lenses for walking and travel. Would I like a piece of L glass, sure, but, for all my printing and book making, I have not found it necessary. It's taken me a couple of months to adapt, but this kit is coming with me all over Europe and North America this year.

I LOVE this camera! Easy to navigate through, and takes amazing pictures... I'm very much a beginner, and this is great for learning... It's small and compact so you can take it everywhere to use for multiple situations and such. You're not restricted to a fixed lens like pocket cams or point and shoot cameras.

I bought this camera from BestBuy, thinking canon would have replaced the flimsy camera body, PowerShot internal software , crop sensor mode for video when the 5 axis stabilization is turned.... but no Betterment in this area. Returned this camera just like I did with the M5. I’ll keep on using my sexy looking Eos m with magic lantern. I grew up using A1e, canon super 8 cameras, still use brilliant old canon manual lenses. A1e+Kodak ektachrome and Kodachrome gave me amazing pictures. I have been shooting with canon for the past 30 years. As a growing filmmaker EOS Cinema line is down right amazing .My wishlist Mirrorless A1e, 32 megapixel, quad pixel autofocus, 11fps, 500 pix camera battery , 2.5k full sensor readout in video with microphone and headphone inputs. 5axis stabilization without crop. 128000 ISO. Solid surgical steel body. Canon patiently listen to your customers, we love and we have hope in you, even when you let us down.(slow growth in the T dslr series after the T5i, let down after eos m2. We find ways of supporting you by buying 80d instead of the t 7i. Your innovative generosity will be repaid to you by your customers 7 fold. Thank you ??

This is a great camera. I am loving the sensor, processor and lens. I have the 15-45mm because I wanted to be able to carry it in a coat pocket. It fits all my coats. I attached a testament to the image quality. The pic was hand held using auto settings. The inset shows the limit of resolution. The line from the sail boat mast to the bow is the rolled up jib sail! It was hand held at 45mm. This translates into crop-ability and I love that. There are enough controls and auto variations to do all I want. I am recommending this to all friends as well as the M100 which is almost a twin with a few less niceties but the same sensor, processor and lenses. I have the eyepiece but am not using it much. I am adapting to the screen only method quickly.

I'm having a blast learning to use this camera. It is much easier to use than my Canon EOS 80D, especially taking shots at night without a flash or tripod. The M6 is a great size for travel photography and I can't wait to use it for my macro, landscape and street photography.

I have an EOS M and EOS M3 and now the M6. The earlier models had underperforming auto focus, the M worse than the M3. The M6 solves all these problems with a very small light package and with what is becoming a good lens selection. I have EFS lenses with adapters that work well with the M series cameras. I travel a lot and the M series fits my needs perfectly. The M6 is a great addition.

This is so much better than the Canon M3. The focus is faster and shaper. And the timelaspe mode is a great feature. The only fault i see is when the screen is flipped up the light meter is to low to see, it's blocked be the body of the camera. In the M3 that wasn't a problem.

Extreme ease of use. Good built ( altough Mlens are plasticky) and great images. I use it for construction sites and trips. Quite happy about it.
Awesome compromise
By KSPaul
All photo gear is about compromises: size and weight vs features, price vs exotic materials, features vs simplicity. The M6 hits a real sweet spot I love. It's small but extremely capable. It shoots photos and video every bit as nice as my 80D but the M6 can slip into a pocket with a 22mm f/2 lens. It's way better for stills than the original EOS M but shooting and focus lag still make it not viable for shooting action, even with the electronic viewfinder attached. Mine serves mainly as a 2nd...

The EOS M6 is an interchangeable-lens camera that puts advanced technologies like Dual Pixel CMOS AF with phase-detection in a compact and lightweight size. Ready at hand to help capture photos and videos the instant the moment happens, it focuses quickly and precisely to help ensure you catch the shot you want. The 24.2 Megapixel CMOS (APS-C) Sensor helps ensure your results are clear, incredibly detailed and vibrantly colorful. Once you’ve captured your most precious memories, you can easily share them with friends, family and the world through built-in wireless connectivity including Wi-Fi®, NFC and Bluetooth®. Advanced technology and stunning image quality combine inside the stylish, highly portable EOS M6.
With the EOS M6 camera’s fast and accurate Dual Pixel CMOS AF, there’s virtually no wait when capturing action-packed moments. This highly advanced technology is equipped with advanced multi-pixel phase-detection that instantly analyzes the phase of select light wavelengths. By calculating the difference, the EOS M6 determines how to adjust the lens so the image is in focus. Available when using Live View on the LCD touchscreen, Dual Pixel CMOS AF helps ensure your results are sharp, keeps the time it takes to lock focus onto your subject to a minimum and smoothly maintains focus where you want it, even if your subject is in motion, for both photos and videos.
The EOS M6 camera features a 24.2 Megapixel (APS-C) sensor capable of capturing large image and movie files that are suitable for enlargements with sufficient resolution for significant trimming. Whether making poster-sized prints, zooming in on a particular detail or making Full HD movies, the EOS M6’s sensor is primed to deliver.
To help you get multiple images of a fast-moving subject and ensure you capture the moment you want, the EOS M6 camera is capable of taking up to 7.0 frames per second (up to 9.0 fps with AF Lock). Whether you’re capturing an athlete scoring a goal or a toddler running after bubbles, the EOS M6 can take the shot and stay locked on thanks to its DIGIC 7 Image Processor.
The DIGIC 7 Image Processor powers the EOS M6 camera, providing high image quality and fast operation even in low light. When using high ISO settings, the improved noise reduction processing helps keep the image sharp and detailed in virtually any lighting situation. Enhanced tracking and detection capabilities help keep subjects clear and in focus throughout the action, with improved face tracking so your friend or family member remains the subject of the photo.
Whether you’re creating artistic film clips or capturing special occasions, the advanced video capabilities of the EOS M6 camera can capture them in high quality. Incredibly realistic 1080p Full HD video is recorded at up to 60p with stereo sound in convenient MP4 format. Video is smooth and richly detailed even when played back on a large-screen HDTV via the camera’s HDMI output. The MP4 format’s small file size lets you fit more on a single memory card, and helps make downloading and sharing quick and easy.
Even when you hold the camera as steady as you can, some unintentional shaking is possible. To counter this, the EOS M6 camera features Combination IS, which uses the camera’s Digital IS with a compatible lens’s Optical IS to help lessen the chance of blur due to camera shake. The EOS M6 also features 5-axis Digital Image Stabilization* when recording video, which digitally helps to minimize blur due to movement. These help ensure the videos you record are as sharp as possible.
* Maximum image stabilization is achieved when using either the EF-M 18–150mm f/3.5–6.3 IS STM or the EF-M 15–45mm f/3.5–6.3 IS STM.
The EOS M6 camera is designed to make Wi-Fi® connections fast and easy. It can exchange data with other Wi-Fi® compatible Canon cameras, and transfer files directly to a compatible smart device using the Camera Connect app. It can also connect directly to Canon’s Connect Station CS100 device, upload directly to various web services like CANON iMAGE GATEWAY, Facebook® and YouTube®, print directly to wireless Canon printers and even play back JPEG images on DLNA-compatible media players.
With the Canon Camera Connect app installed, the EOS M6 camera connects to and can be controlled by your compatible smartphone or tablet for simple remote shooting.
The EOS M6 camera has a large, high-resolution, 3.0” LCD monitor that tilts up 180° and down 45°, ideal for composing not only self-portraits, but also for taking pictures at high and low angles with ease. Its touch screen is designed to be fast and easy to use for many operations, allowing accessible AF selection right on the panel.
The Mode Dial lets you switch quickly to the picture mode that best matches what you’re shooting. The Exposure Compensation Dial allows fine-tuning of the overall brightness of the image to match your creative intent. Quick Control and Main Dials, along with the comfortably-placed Controller Wheel on the back, are all customizable so the settings you use most are conveniently at your fingertips. Turning camera on and off is as easy as flicking your thumb.
To expand creative opportunities, the EOS M6 camera is compatible with both EF-M lenses designed specifically for the EOS M series of digital cameras, as well as the full line of Canon’s EF and EF-S lenses. This gives you access to a huge variety of lenses from prime to wide-angle that are respected by enthusiasts and professional photographers from around the world. Other compatible EOS accessories include Speedlite flashes, Speedlite Transmitters and even Macro Ring Lites, so you can be ready to get the shot no matter the lighting conditions.
