Maintenance Cartridge
What to say about a maintenance cartridge other than it works.
The good point is that Adorama made ordering it easy and it arrived quickly. This is why I go to Adorama for my supplies.

Keep one on hand always
I wish I had bought these sooner to have them ready for when they needed replaced. However, they are super easy to install and inexpensive. Buy a couple to have one on hand.

Great product and unmatched customer service
I love purchasing my canon maintenances cartridges from Adorama. When the cartridge is full, it stops . You can?t print. I love that. The critical piece is replacing them. The customer service at Adorama is unmatched and unflappable. Even on your worst day the customer service reps are patient, making sure your order is complete. Thanks peeps!

A necessary evil
This maintenance cartridge is a good reason not to buy a Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000. The cartridge is not recyclable, nor is it possible to replace the absorbent material inside, the cartridge is welded shut. This is just another chunk of plastic to spend eternity in a landfill.

Always on backorder
It's required to have one in order to print, but it seems like it is ALWAYS on backorder. I have a big print run coming up and I THOUGHT I had ordered well in advance. I was wrong. Thankfully, I ordered two this time so that when finally ship, I'll have one in reserve.

Suggest having two Maintenance Cartridges on hand per box of 80ml cartridges (box of all 12).
Was very simple to remove the initial cartridge and insert the new one. My only issue is capacity. The printer was telling me I needed to replace the cartridge while I was still on the partial filled ink cartridges that came with the printer. This means I might go through two maintenance cartridges for every full set of ink cartridges. Only a guess but I'm sure I pretty close.
I mentioned this to a friend who has this printer and his experience is, "it depends more on how often you turn your printer on and off. It apparently uses a lot of ink to purge and clean all the ink jets. My first thought when I noticed how fast they can fill-up was "Oh my gosh! All that expensive ink going into a maintenance cartridge to be tossed away." Bottom line, I rated the maintenance cartridge 4 stars because it is easy to remove and to install a new cartridge. The ink consumption and cost is a different issue.

When you need it, you need it
Works fine, sort of like an oil filter for your car but it’s for your printer. Maintenance item I didn’t know I would need until the printer just stopped and wouldn’t resume until I replaced this thing.

It works I guess
How do you review something that goes in side the printer and sits back in the far left corner of the printer. Its call a maintenance cartridge and I am not sure what it does because of where it sits in the printer. The printer will not print without one and when the printer tells you it needs a new one the printer will not print until you replace it. I enjoy doing reviews but how do you review this? If it was something you handled and used daily, weekly or occasionally but this is a insert and forget till the printer says it needs a new one. I gave it 5 stars becaus it works the way it is suppose to I guess.

Adorama kept asking, so . . .
This is a tank that collects waste ink. Lots of waste ink. Makes me want to cry, given ink prices. But that's not the tank's fault. It just has an unhappy job. And it doesn't cost nearly as much as the ink that fills it eventually. So five stars, and now maybe Adorama will stop bugging me for a review.

Fills up FAST
A necessary part of the printer and works quite well. This is far less messy than the maintenance carts/boxes in many other printers out there and easy to change out. It does fill up rather rapidly - figure on using 4 per set of ink carts. It's also difficult to come by, being on backorder much of the time.
