It works pretty well and is reasonably quiet. But accessing the commands is a pain because there's a small screen that needs to be held by one hand while you type in the commands with the other hand. And the screen isn't particularly sensitive. So it can easily take a couple of minutes to tell my machine that I want to print two double-sided copies. Just not user friendly.

The touch screen does not work! It takes many attempts just to get it to select. I tried with a stylus and that's not any better. This alone is a reason not to buy this model. However, it also loses the connection to the internet all the time. I've reinstalled drivers, etc. all to no avail. The scanner has worked once, and the copy function works fine, but that's because there's an actual button for that on the panel, and you don't have to use the touch screen to access. The copies look fine, but nothing special. All in all, with the touch screen issue, this is a terrible printer. I am so disappointed. I have other Canon products that work great, but this one is a lemon. I've also read other reviews mentioning the touch screen, too.

This does not reliably work on linux or mac. Scanner never works. I am reinstallig drivers every week. The printer may be great, but if you can't use it, what's the point?

I have owned many dot matrix, impact, thermal, ink jet and laser printers and fax machines over the years and this printer is not only the best all around device I have worked with for the price, it is well beyond proficient in every feature. After a year and a half and a couple thousand sheets of printing and faxing I am on only my second cartridge so costs have been minimal. I can print wirelessly from all my Windows and Apple devices with ease, and even my technologically challenged wife is able to send and receive faxes and print from her laptop and her iphone without having to call me. I have owned good Canon, Lexmark, Epson and HP printers and in almost every case when they needed replaced I felt I did not get my money's worth. This printer continues to please me as it is already the least costly on a per-month basis of any I have owned. I highly recommend this multi-function printer.

We bought this printer about 1-2 years ago. It is very efficient with the toner cartridge, I just replaced it for the first time 2 months ago. I was so tired of the endless replacement of cartridges for our ink jet printers. I love the speed of the printer, it prints front and back, and it does well making copies. My only issues have been with the drivers. We are using Windows 10 on our computers and have had to reinstall drivers, otherwise the two don't talk. Ironically enough, it always prints from my iPhone without issue. Also related to the driver issue, sometimes it will not scan to the computer.

I bought this a few months ago and it does not work consistently. Printer does not recognize my PC even via USB. Scanning to PC does not work. They have a patch for this problem that I installed and it still did not work. I tried reinstalling drivers and it did not fix the issues. Wireless prinitng works incosistently and only from iPad not my PC. All I can do consistently is make copies.

It worked decently until we upgraded our DSL. Since then it will constantly lose the connection with my Mac and even when it does print it does so haltingly and is prone to stopping randomly. It does not do this from a Windows PC. I have twice scrubbed all of the install files from my computer and tried reinstalling all the print software from scratch. I've gone from liking the printer to utterly hating it. And I've only once used the double-sided document scanning which didn't work that well (clean new pages that jammed repeatedly. Overall a big failure. Do not buy this model unless you have no other options for its features.

It seems rather lightweight to me, not substantial. I don't like the touch screen, it's hard to touch the option you want, I have to try numerous times. Although the salesman in the Staples store showed me how to change the toner cartridge, I couldn't do it on my own. When I went back to ask Staples if they would show me again, they said they no longer carry the model (less than 6 mos) ago. I'm sorry I didn't go with an HP. I had my hp forever.

Nice printer/scanner. I do not use the fax function or the wireless function. Web Interface is works well. Printer shakes hands easily with Windows 7 and Mac OS 10.9.5. Printer manages wired network interface easily. Android systems can easily print using Canon Print Service app. Canon customer service is VERY user friendly and helpful. One reason for my switch from HP to Canon is HP customer service cannot solve problems easily or quickly. Cloud Print does not work properly. Canon needs to spend more time developing this service. This is a solid printer I can use many times a day or a few times every other month.

Just bought this for my mom and dad and it keeps pretending it isn't connected. The blue light is on, the network settings print out and yet, and yet, it doesn't seem to be connected repeatedly.

Been using this for months for work - small office. Doesn't work well if scanning multiple documents or printing larger documents - jams when printing & just quits scanning. Good if only printing one page or scanning one page - but probably wouldn't buy a laser printer with an auto feed scanner if that was the case. Bought because wireless - still haven't gotten that to work - even with our corporate IT assistance.

This is a great printer for the price.. We have printed about 150 pages both single and double sided. The copy function works well. We have not tried the scan or fax options.

The lack of network scanning is a dealbreaker. Also the scanning resolution advertised is only obtained through using an advanced configuration of the included software

To the person that was having issues with the Mac, check if the printer has a software update. I'm running the newest OS being part of apple's program as well as the newest iOS 9.3 and it prints beautifully from my I6 and MacBook Pro. When I bought, I upgraded the software on the printer. Try that out and hopefully it works. It's been pretty fast so no complains yet.

This is a good all in one machine although I don't use it for high volume, easy to use, set up as network printer. Toner doesn't last too long but it's a good all around piece of equipment for home or small office.

excellent unit for a small office, dual sided printing saves on paper usage and high capacity print capabilities keep cartridge costs low. User interface is simple, operates well in network or as a standalone unit, the print from phone function is extremely useful for people on the go.

Purchased this printer to replace my old HP LaserJet 4. I really wanted full duplexing functionality and an efficient all-in-one laser printer. The set up was easy and this printer is functioning great. As a bonus the wireless feature is working great so we can print from any computer on my network. Have not tried many other features yet, such as scanning or print from Android/iOS. Not super inexpensive, but hopefully that means many years of service. Highly recommended for a B&W laser.

Let me preface by saying I'm no stranger to the world of IT and these issues go beyond 'turn on/off'. Also, I have a Mac OS and have been trying to use Google Air Print more. I really do like this printer and there are only three ways it could be better: 1) If it were color 2) If the touch screen wasn't the only interface 3) If the features worked reliably The touch screen isn't the most sensitive thing and if you have larger than average fingers, then you will have issues selecting the correct button. There have been many times when I have gone to press something and gotten its neighbor instead. I would have appreciated a menu interface that you can operate via the number pad, or at the very least, arrow/enter. I've resorted to keeping a stylus near the printer. The wireless: sometimes it decides to work, sometimes not. It worked really well for a little while, then stopped working all together. I've had to reconfigure it three times now, so I've given up and just use the USB cord. Also, the wireless takes a. very. long. time. to print - the only way you know it is actually considering printing is that the data light is blinking. Same with the document feeder. I used it once the other night and then it quit. When it is working correctly, it's beautiful. But I shouldn't have to keep fiddling with something that is less than a year old.

Bought this MFC printer because I needed duplex scanning and the price was the best I could find online. Everything is as expected and works greats, except that after scanning, the file name is not what I wanted. I wanted the file name to be the date and the time of the scan, but this is because the software from Canon, not the hardware issue. The workaround is to get a third party scanning software, but that would cost me money. The second issue I have is that it can't scan legal size documents using the auto feeder or the flatbad, so the workaround is to use the flatbad and scan the document twice, the top portion first then the bottom portion second. The last thing is that the scan speed is a bit on the slow side, but then again my computer is connected to the printer via wirelss network. Not sure if that's the reason.
