Questions & Answers

HEDY K : I am interested as well in finding out whether the Pixma MG8220 scanner is compatible with Apple computers. Does anybody know about this?ANUPAM B : Works greatHEDY K : Thank you very much for your reply!FAITH R : Yes, it is. I bought it in August to use with my Mac. Works great!HEDY K : Thank you very much!HARRY M : Yup. Wireless w/ macbook SHERYL K : I bought my MG8220 in Oct, 2012, for use with my iMac, so, yes, it works with that Apple computer. The scanning feature was most important, the printing feature second to that. I also set it up on wireless so that I could use it for printing from other machines in the house if I wanted, and my husband uses it for his Linux machine that way. Very convenient.DOUG L : Yes it will work with Macintosh computers just fine, if not better than PCs.ANDY A : Yes, I have this printer and it works very well with my imac desktop and mac book pro laptop
Bob B : Does this printer"s Scanner work with a Macintosh Computer? I read in one place that the scanner feature works only with Windows??? I would appreciate clarification! Thank you, BobHEDY K : I'm sorrty that I'm not able to answer as I have a windows computer. But I'd be curious on that as well since I plan to get a new computer soon and am considering getting an Apple computer.KIMBERLEY F : I'm not sure, I have the software installed on a Windows computer. However, I do print from Macs on it. We usually scan directly to a flash drive (which is really convenient) and then transfer the document that way. It's easy, especially if you have several things to scan. There may be options for manipulating the scanned file during scanning that we miss by doing it this way, I haven't looked into that.FRED S : Bob, First, for your reference, I use a 2008 Mac Book Pro 17 and I'm running OS 10.6.8 and Aperture, Apple's professional photo-organizing software. I purchased my Canon Pixma 8220 from Adorama last autumn and I'm an unqualified super-fan of Adorama. Canon, not so much. So, the Canon Pixma 8220' scanner might work with somebody's MacIntosh computer, but it is functionally useless with my Mac. What do I mean? I can't get it to work. The printer instructions are on the computer, the usual thing, I suppose, very tedious to use, and were unhelpful. Help from Canon may be available but "how" is a mystery to me. I have a web account with Canon. I went on the website to see if I could download a firmware update that I thought might help the scanner situation. There was an update but it was impossible for me to download. The "action button" was nonexistent, a problem I encountered on the Canon web site several times.. Although I'm not a computer hobbyist, I used PC's from 1987-2001, and have lived in the Mac world since 1999. I had no problems getting the scanner function up and running on the 2008 HP printer purchased with my current Mac. That said, I can figure stuff out if an issue is fairly intuitive, and I've even figured out some arcane problems over the years, as well. I have confidence that the Pixma 8220's scanner section works in some circumstances because Consumer Reports rated it and had good things to say about the printer and its scanning function. However, when I'm ready to take a chance on yet another printer/scanner, my Pixma 8220 is going into the recycle bin. Very respectfully,EDWARD C : I have never owned a Macintosh PC so can't help there. I would suggest contacting Canon. It is a great printer. I own two.
Kay S : how easy does this machine scan slides? How many will it load at once?Kay S : Thank you deborah! just what i wantekd to know!DEBORAH C : It was easy loading the slides in the guide. The slides fit loosely on the top of the guide. I think you can do 4 or 5 at once. the guide with the slides is placed in the center of the glass. Easy Breezy.CHARLES C : Sorry, I haven't used that feature yet.TOM G : I am sorry that I can't answer your question on this matter since I haven't use the feature yet.

Versatile high quality printer

Adorama delivery was very fast -- 3 days ahead of schedule for the cheapest shipping option. We use this printer on our home network. It prints photos and documents from all of our computers, smartphones and tablets. It also scans remotely over the network, even onto smartphones. Perfect solution for home -- we don't really need multiple printers and this one does it all. Set-up is clearly explained, but give yourself plenty of time since it's somewhat involved.
