I've had this camera for about three years and it's my favorite pocket camera ever. The screen is actually perfect, just pull it up 90 degrees and for have a perfect shooting angle, just look down, frame your shot and shoot. It also has a great touch screen for when you're looking for a different angle, just touch the screen where you want it to focus and you get great results. Brilliant little camera! i bought a second one for my wife and she loves it as well.

When I first read the reviews - not much interest. Then. I heard more from folks. I am having vision issues and wanted to try a touch screen camera. I really like the f3 wide angle lens speed - I shoot more wide subjects. I like to shoot in lower light, too. I like the size of the camera, not intimidating, in fact folks will ask where they can get one! Mine came from Amazon. The touch screen focusing works very well - even in low light. The Creative Mode is "very Japanese" or more designed for the iPhone generation - I am 65. I have found that maybe 1 out of 50 shots in the factory-set mode - is of interest. The LED flash has been just fine for me. Now the "not great" issues in my book: no real control on the zoom lens - where it stops. It just won't stop where or when you want it to. The shutter ring release is hard to find in low light - not tactile enough - so I just use the touchscreen. I shoot Program, Auto or in B&W mode but wish there were more options. All in all - I am very happy with the N as a fun pocket camera! It goes most everywhere with me!

WARNING: This camera will not work for selfies. The screen only tilts 90 degrees. Canon really missed the boat here. Why would you engineer a movable screen and then limit it to 90 degrees so you can't see yourself when shooting?

Bought this a year ago as a pocket camera. It's a really nice bridge between my "serious" G & S series cameras and the thing that comes with my mobile phone. It does not really look like a camera so people tend not to freak out - thinking maybe low resolution GoPro or something. But the images are great, the touch screen works like a charm, and the "creative modes" are actually a lot of fun when you are shooting people in a group.

I purchased this camera thinking that Cannon had a good reputation and I would be pleased with this product. I found that the buttons to operate the camera are so small that I cannot control them with my finger tips. I have to use my fingernail and look for the button each time I want to use it. It is too small to handle without getting your fingers in the way and very hard to hang on to. The pictures it takes are good, but I missed many photo opportunities due to my fumbling around to control the camera. I would return it if I was still in the area I bought it in. I do not recommend this camera and am thinking of returning it to Cannon. Lesson learned, do not buy on the fly.

12.1 megapixels is MORE than ANY point and shoot NEEDS. Because of this, the pictures are much cleaner/noise free. You don't see noticeable grain till you get to 1600 and above ISO. THE GOOD: nice clean sharp pictures. 1280 x 720 video. The ability to touch the screen to take a picture or....turn that off so you can touch the screen to focus on what YOU want to focus on. It's small. Easy to use once you adapt to the shutter/zoom placement. I like the 16:9 ratio in the "P" mode. It's 9 megapixels. Again, All you need. NOT SO GOOD: full HD at 24fps. Too slow. Battery life. Indoor pictures in a well lit room defaults too 1600 iso. Why? Indoors, in a well lit room, should be no higher than maybe 400 iso. Never had 1600 indoors ever. It's a nice little camera. Picture quality is VERY good. I don't use the wifi. It's the right amount of megapixels for a point and shoot. It's nice to see lower megapixels, and more is NOT better. With more megapixels, you can print H U G E pictures. How many of us do that?

We have this camera for two years. We love it very much. Small, compact, very well made (strong and high quality materials and does its job well. Awesome video, very high-quality images, easy file transfer. The only drawback is the short battery life, but we bought in advance, two replacement batteries, so it's definitely not a problem for us.

Bought this about 6 months ago as a camera that can fit in a pocket that can communicate with my phone easily with a zoom lens. Once you get past how the camera operates (Takes a few pics you appreciate how zooming an shooting can be done with one hand in a lot of different positions. The tilting screen is nice feature for above the head or below the waist shots and the macro on the lens makes closeup photography really cool I can get within 1/2" of most things. The image stabilization on the camera does a very good job in lower light situations and the chip is not that nosiy comapared to a camera phone or other device in the category. Zooming works well and even the digital zoom mode does a decent job. Connecting to the phone is an OK app would like to see bluetooth instead of wi-fi but I know transfer speeds would lower but for sharing lower images would be adequate. Other features I would like to see would be a panoramic mode, bluetooth, a real flash not LED with redeye reduction. As with all the cannon products I have owend this top quality all metal no cheap plastic and is a great companion to a cell phone because of the size and functionality.

I love this camera. It is small, so it is easy to carry everywhere. It is well built and solid feeling, so it doesn't feel cheaply made. If you use it as a regular shooter, it makes great images, similar to what I can get on my other cameras (canon G12). What is really neat about the camera is the creative shot mode. You slide a button on the side of the camera to get into this mode, and with one click of the shutter, the camera creates six different shots, each with its own look, feel and color. One of the shots is just what the shot would look like without any filters, and the other five, the camera creates on its own a different photo. Many of the times, the results are beautiful, sometimes a clunker comes out, but it's a fun camera to shoot and see what comes out. The other neat feature is that with a push of a button on the side of the camera, you can begin the process of transferring your photos to your smartphone or tablet. There is a bit of a learning curve here, you have to download the appropriate canon app to your phone or tablet, but once you figure it out, it's very simple and the transfer happens quickly. It may seem redundant to transfer photos that you took on this camera to your smartphone, when you can just take the photo with the phone itself, but to me, this lens and sensor and digital processor is way better than what is in the phone, plus you have the option of making standard prints because of the bigger jpeg file that you create. There is no RAW processing, it's a very simple camera with not a lot of controls, but there is a P mode, just like the G12, but this one is scaled back a bit. I know that this is no substitute for a dslr, but for sheer fun, this camera is great. If you feel like you're in a rut about your photography hobby, this camera will give you a shot of adrenaline.

All that reviews said and more. I wanted a small pocket shooter with a LONG lens and the 'N' is perfect! Great bells and whistles include WiFi, GPS, multi shots in a 2.5" X 3" package. My first shot was through a dirty window in my construction site trailer of the operator inside the cab of a mobile crane 125 feet away. Viewing the pix on the adjustable screen displayed an excellent, 'passport' clear face shot. I love my new Canon!

There are a lot of features built into this that make it great for fun pictures. It is easy to carry, to keep available al the time. The quality of the files are very good and the optics give a crisp images. I am just starting to explore the movie mode, but the setup where it grabs 5 or 6 seconds of video before you press the shutter makes an interesting "out-takes" movie. The zoom lens and image size put this nicely between my iPhone and my DSLR, and I am using this instead of my iPhone more often now. I wish you could lock out the zooming so it wouldn't go from optical zoom to digital zoom but it isn't hard to manage.

The Canon PowerShot N is approximately the size of a bar of soap, and when you flip out the LCD monitor it can stand on its own. Despite its small size it features a 28-224mm (35mm equivalent) f/3-5.9 lens, an optical stabilizer, a 12MP CMOS sensor, and 1080 full HD video capture. The Canon PowerShot N offers built-in Wi-Fi and lets you upload to the Internet via your iOS or Android Device via the free Canon CameraWindow app.
But it is the camera's distinctive design that is attracting the most attention. The LCC monitor can be tilted up to 90 degrees; users adjust settings and modes using gestures to zoom, rotate and select images on the screen. Dual rings surrounding the lens barrel control the lens and shutter. the outer ring controls the shutter, which can be released from any point on the ring; the inner ring controls the zoom.
Canon offers a six-way optical image stabilizer that compensates for all different kinds of camera movement, and Canon says the camera's ISO range has been expanded to ISO 6400. Another cool feature: Creative Shot, which analyzes each scene and applies color, tone, crop or rotation adjustments to the image automatically. In addition, Canon offers 7 creative filter modes.
