The printer is easy to set-up and operate. The colors are exceptional. I couldn't have asked for a better printer.

This is my first large format printer. I run a high volume wedding and portrait studio. We just printed over 20 24 x 36 prints for a recent bridal show. The printer has already paid for itself and makes absolutely incredible prints. I highly recommend pairing it with the Lexjet Archival premium matte paper.

Get this Canon Printer! I love it. Do not buy an Epson 4900, 7900, 9900. They print great when they print, but they have terrible head clogging issues. Shortly after the warranty ran out, several of the heads on my 4900 clogged up. If this had happoned with an Epson warranty, I would have had to pack it up and send it back to Epson. Without a warranty, I was looking at a $1,500 minimum service call. Luckly, I bought a on site warranty from a 3rd party and got my money back. This Canon prints just as well as my Epson, has user replaceable heads, and huge dealer/repair network.

If there were more options in rating I would give it 4 1/2 or 4 3/4 stars. I moved up from an iPF5000, which was a very good printer. Everything on the iPF6400 is improved by a two or three notches. The ink in particular has improved gamut and much less gloss differential. I have read that Epson ink is more damage resistant but I don't see that, but maybe that was the older ink. I took a print (that I have other copies of) to the kitchen sink, ran hot water over it and rubbed an area 2-3 inches square with quite high pressure for about a minute. when the print was dry I couldn't tell the difference. Bottom line -- the ink is great and is available in both 130ml and 300ml cartridges. The interface is also much improved, but could still use a color display and larger. The Photoshop print plugin is great. After trying it on the old iPF5000 I never used the windows print driver, and the new one is even better. Just try it, there is too much to be able to explain in a just few words. Long term operating cost from everything I could find appears to be better than Epson printers. Everything from user replaceable heads on the Canon (vs. head replacement by a technician at a cost approximately equal to a new printer with the Epson), and using less ink in printing as well as head cleaning compared to Epson. By the way, it also has a print plugin for MS Word & Excel.
Love this printer

The Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6400 24" Large Format Printer was designed for professionals in the graphic, fine art, photography and proofing markets that seek the highest possible standards for quality-control and image reproduction. An incredibly large color spectrum is produced by the 12-Color LUCIA Ex pigment ink set, which also provides better scratch resistance and smoother gradations. The new Multi-sensor included with this printer provides improved color density detection and allows for a full calibration to be completed within 15 minutes, with the ability to use non-Canon branded media.
A new Color Calibration Management System allows for color calibration targets to be created using the iPF6450 with optional spectrophotometer and shared across all new iPFX400 12-color printers and the included software allows for all printers on the network to be monitored from one central location. The printer supports ink tank sizes of 130ml and for the first time, 300ml and the new sub-ink tank keeps some ink in reserve to allow for tanks to be changed without interrupting a print. In highest print mode, the order of ink application and layering is optimized to maintain the highest print quality with fewer passes, making this mode twice as fast compared to previous models.
To expand printing options and capabilities, the iPF6400 printer comes bundled with a Print Plug-in for Adobe Photoshop, Digital Photo Professional and Microsoft Office. The enhanced Print Plug-in for Adobe Photoshop includes a new Adjustment Pattern Setting which allows for multiples of an image to be printed at once with different color values implemented and displayed. Gallery wraps for canvas prints can now be created using the new Gallery Wrap Feature.
To improve versatility, the iPF6400 has a media configuration tool which allows customers to not only utilize existing Canon-branded media, but also with third party media. Designed for efficiency, reliability and above all quality, the iPF6400 is the professional's answer to superior quality large format prints.
