I have had nothing but trouble with this printer since I bought it.  It constantly disconnects from my wifi causing me to reinstall and re-enter password. The keypad for that is ridiculous - not very user friendly. Whenever I have to install a new ink cartridge, it gives me error messages, and this time when trying to change my color ink cartridge, it is giving me the error message but this time I can't get around it.  I paid a pretty penny for the ink.  I can't just throw it away because it's not working with my printer. (It is the correct ink, the correct number, and it is a cannon product.)  I am ready to toss this printer and buy a different brand.

Horrible Product

I've had wireless printers before, this model seamlessly configures to laptop, phone for easy printing.  Trying out the auto-ink program, let's see how it works.

Better than Expected

Easy to use printer

I bought this printer a couple of months ago and wanted a base model that could print a few documents per week, mostly in black and white.  Every time I try to print, I have issues getting the printer to download the document and even once it does and the printer queue indicates it is printing, nothing is happening.  I typically have to cancel printing mutliple times before I actually get what I need.

Horrible wireless printer - count yourself lucky if it prints.

This printer is a complete waste of money. It's the biggest piece of garbage I've ever purchased in my life. First of all, the standard B&W ink tanks - which cost around $40 or so - last for about a dozen pages before running out of ink, and that's even on the lowest-quality print setting. Second, the set-up process isn't user-friendly at all. I had mine hooked up for months, and then it stopped working inexplicably because the network connection between it and my laptop was evidently lost, so I downloaded the latest driver, and have spent the last three hours of my life trying to get this piece of garbage hooked up to my laptop again, and without success. Same goes for my iPhone. Now, as far as I'm concerned I've ever got the biggest doorstop I've ever purchased in my life or the most expensive target for shooting practice. Don't waste your money on this piece of garbage.

What A Piece of Garbage. Canon Should Be Ashamed!!!!

I've been using Canon printers since they came out with their first Bubble Jet in the 1980's. I made a BIG mistake buying this printer, a total piece of junk! I'm running MAC 10.13.6 and also use Linux. Support has also gotten very bad as it takes forever to contact them for help. I still have 4 MX922 printers that I use for printing on disks. Canon should stop wasting time and energy coming out with new printers every year, follow the lead of Epson.

Worst printer that Canon has ever made!

Wish I'd looked at the reviews BEFORE I purchased the TR4720. This is my 5th CANON printer and unfortunately, this is a gigantic piece of do-do. Of course, I had a tech issue immediately after install, maybe 1/2 hour and still charged $20. The control panel is designed to make it as hard as possible to navigate.  I still may be able to return it.

Ink display not correct.
Multiple page scanner feeds deforming pages! 
After just a week vacations (lost power to my house) just spent about 2 and a half hours and still not communicating with my desktop PC.

No more Pixma printer 4 me

Even something as simple as printing ONE PAGE OF PAPER can be too complex for this printer at times. It says "please wait momentarily" endlessly even though it's connected to strong wifi, has full ink, and is only being asked to print one page. This printer has a mind of its own and often decides not to work. Honestly, it's a waste of money in our experience- what's the point of a PRINTER that won't PRINT?!?!

Unreliable and incredibly frustrating

Gott it up. And running finally. Quite a feet in a n d of itself . I used it twice then it keeps coming up ink cartridges improperly installed...install ink cartridges properly. And do everything they say to do but to no avail. I had bought 4 xl ink cartridges with it and now I have no printer and aton of bink. I don't recommend buying this. The refund is you. Can bring hi back only if it is in the original packaging and it has to be broken before you open the package. Figure that one out!

Terrible product and worse return policies

This printer is no good. I got it in the summer of 2024. I have bought ink 3 times since then cause it keeps telling me I"m out of ink. And still doesn't work.I have tried everything It Tells me and it says I'm not connected to WiFi.
With the money I have spent on ink I could have bought a more expensive and better working printer.

I bought this about 6 months ago.  I do not do a lot of printing, already I am needing to buy a third black ink cartridge.  I had had good longevity of my previous PIXMA's but I'm questioning this one

A compact home office look -uses too much ink and not enough printing

We bought this printer amd within a month it stopped working. I feel the ink doesn't last long either. Everytime I think I get it figured out it messes up again.

Not great!

Nothing but problems with canon printers. I'm on my second one because the first one needed to be replaced. It was under warranty and they could not figure out why it kept jamming. They're slow, they're clunky, they'r loud, There is no back light on the little display screen so you cannot see anything that is popping up such as errors or whatever and the list goes on? The website and customer support are no better. The website always lagging and spinning and support just doesn't exist. They will do anything they can to transfer you and then you sit and wait for someone to pick up and it never happens. You end up calling back only to get another customer service rep who hates their job.  I would never recommend Canon to anyone. This one is most likely going back. I'm spending the extra money and getting another HP. You know the old saying - you get what you pay for, it sure stands true for this.

DO NOT BUY

Found this printer to be incredibly easy to set up using my phone. It then quickly connected with other iOS and ChromeOS devices. Appreciate that it does not waste paper and ink printing test pages.

Perfect so far for what we need

I bought this printer 2 months ago (Oct 2024) and have found it to be the most difficult to operate printer. While I am NOT a senior, nor do I have limited computer skills, in fact, they are excellent, I totally concur with the other reviews regarding non-intuitive functionality and about the online manual which is absolutely useless. I've wasted an hour so far trying to scan a few photos. Have had limited success scanning the photos with my phone, but the app is limited to only certain photo formats and has limited capapbilities. Operating the scanner manually from the printer is proving to be a challenge also.  I will stop here, as I could continue to complain.... :(

DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER

I bought this perhaps 2 months ago and have been miserable since the start.  I found the on-line setup instructions inadequate and, as instructed, went to Just Ask for help.  I was told I would not need to pay (a $3 fee was supposed to be refunded.  Perhaps it was.). But I couldn't access the service without signing up -- and therefore ended up paying a lot of money to get the printer to operate.  Couldn't get a refund.  Since then, it works sometimes.  It often claims a paper jam when there isn't one.  I learned that I had to stop it and then restart it and then it usually worked.  For a while.   It makes up its own mind as to whether to print two-sided (as directed) or not -- then starts up again and does what it wants.  I give up.

Unhappy Customer

Prints very slowly, compared with my previous printer (PIXMA MX452), and uses up more ink more quickly. Other than that, okay so far, though so far I've only used it to print, copy, and scan (not to fax). And it's more compact than the MX452, which is a plus.

Preferred my previous CANON, but it died of old age

Never struggled to set up a printer more; my grandfather's ancient printer connects to my computer easier and faster than this trash. Finally installed the completely separate program you need for the sole purpose of connecting to this printer just for it to not actually print anything on the paper. (Yes, there a brand new, full ink cartridge.) Never buy a printer from Canon, literally the worst printers on the market.

Overall, not a bad printer for the price.  HOWEVER, it goes to sleep and none of wireless devices can access the printer until I physically turn it on.  Not very convenient at all.

I hate it. Color ink ended after 4 PRINTED PAGES. Black ink lasted 12 pages. That's insane!

Awful!

It is ann inkjet printer so you get what you pay for. I have changed the cartridges 5 times over the last 2 years but havent had any issues with the printer.

Great Backup Printer

Worst ink supply ever..... I only got 30 pages out of the color ink.  I had to change the black ink after about 60 pages.  I don't recommend this product.
