I have taken on the daunting task of putting the family photos in digital format. This scanner has made it so much easier than using a flat bed scanner. It works very quickly and does a great job on the photos. I was able to get an entire storage bin of photos scanned in about 3 hours. I still have several bins to go but on a flat bed scanner, I would have only been able to get a small portion of them done and they would not have looked as good. I would definitely recommend this scanner.

This device is great for scanning documents if you're lucky enough to get it recognized by your machine. It is very trick to get it recognized by my PC and using the register repair download works sometimes, sometimes not. The color processing for photos oversaturates the colors and as others have noted cannot be disabled.

I purchased the imageFORMULA RS 40 Photo and Document Scanner thinking it would produce higher quality scans than a multi-function printer scanner. However, I was very disappointed. As I began scanning photos, this scanner totally ruined the color with its automatic color correction which after much effort and calling Canon Tech Support cannot be shut off. The only offering was scan the photos in and then move them to a photo editing software and correct the color. My photos had perfect color so why go through all that effort. If all you want to scan is black & white photos, it is fine but for color photos, look elsewhere. I returned this scanner and would not recommend it.

Instructions for basic procedure are NOT TOO clear. You need to write instructions for an eight grade level.

this scanner is bad. it is slow the colors are way off from the original and no combination of settings seems to fix it. i have used other bulk scanners and i have to say this is the worst. the only redeeming thing about it is that it scans things in the proper order to keep them organized but the software doesn't create subfolders even when prompted to.

An expensive piece of machinery and time consuming venture in getting this to connect. New, high end computer will not read the USB connection from the scanner. Have spend hours going through the troubleshooting guides online and have tried every suggestion there is. One of the suggestions from Canon... try using a different computer. This is one is brand new dell -why on Earth would it not work on a new computer? I'm sure it's a great scanner, but cross your fingers it connects, because if it doesn't, it's a frustrating rabbit hole.

The Canon imageFormula RS40 Photo and Document Scanner is perfect for quickly scanning photos and documents for easy organizing and clutter cleanup! I was very happy with how easy and clear the instructions were to follow. Set up was super easy. The feature that scans both sides, even in color, at the same time. The software has some features that can be used to cleanup old photos, especially red eye. The unit itself is light and compact, perfect for smaller spaces. Just be careful with very thin or delicate pics or documents (like a 40 year old original birth certificate!). They may rip or get stuck. The only thing I wish this scanner had was WiFi or Bluetooth. Either would improve this scanner just a little more. Otherwise, I definitely recommend this photo/document scanner! Especially for organizing receipts!!!!

This Canon Image Formula RS40 image and document scanner works great! I was able to scan photos of my parents and grandparents from the 1980s into my computer and the quality was great! I love that i now have them on a flash drive nice and safe!

This thing is a powerhouse for scanning lots of typical sized photos. I would hesitate to use this if I were scanning priceless, or older photos (pre-90s. The machine does a lot of the work for you by pulling images through, but the mechanism is a bit aggressive and a few photos had visible marks on them after moving through. If you need to save time, don't care about perfectly preserving the physical picture, and have a lot to go through, this is your pick.

I absolutely love this little scanner it has helped me scan in so many old pictures so I have them saved on my computer as well in case something were to happen and if you have a student who needs to scan homework this is right up your alley my daughter has used it to scan some of her work in for her school dashboard it works super fast and doesn?t take forever to scan

The cannon image formula RS40 is major time saver compared to the old way where you used to have to do one photo at a time. Being able to put a bunch of photos at ones and once and flow thru the process quickly. The scan quality is pretty dang good too.

I got this photo scanner about a month ago because I literally have boxes of photos I want to digitize to preserve them and also free up some space in my house. The first thing I noticed is the size of scanner, was very compact and did not take up much space. It was very easy to setup and software was also a breeze to setup. I was scanning photos in no time and it was fast and easy. The clarity of the scan was as clear as the photo if not better. Thanks canon for making this an easy task that I was dreading.

This scanner is incredibly easy to setup and use. There are a bunch of protective material to remove, cables to connect, and software to download, but then it?s one-click to scan. The scan itself doesn?t look identical to the print. I?m guessing it takes some manipulation once scanned that I didn?t want to mess with. Otherwise, it?s compact and has a simple interface to use!

I received the CanonUSA - imageFORMULA RS40 Photo and Document Scanner to try and review. Like a lot of offices working semi-remotely and trying to be as paperless as possible, a scanner is a must have. This scanner is perfect, compact and scans well producing clear images without jamming.

I'm in the process of moving and literally had boxes of old photos that I wasn't sure what to do with. I didn't want to get rid of them but they take up a lot of space and weigh a ton. Thanks to this scanner I was able to digitize stacks of pictures in no time. It was super easy to setup, scan and the quality is fantastic. The best part is that I get keep all of my old memories and not have to worry about where to store boxes of pictures in the new house. It's also been great because I was able to scan a ton of important papers. Now I don't have to worry about trying to find them or digging them out of storage!

This is a great addition to my home office! Not only can I use it to scan documents for work but I can also scan all my family pictures into my computer and have them all in a safe place in case I lose the physical photos. It?s lightweight and a perfect size for my desk. Definitely recommend!

I was looking to digitize few old photos from childhood and decided to get this Canon Photo & Document scanner and i was surprised with the clarity and sharpness it maintained in the digital copy of the photos. In todays world where all in one printer scanners are available, if your need is clarity of the photos, this scanner is your destination. Its very easy to use and setup. So full marks to the makers.

I received the Canon Photo image formula and I love the size of the Scanner. It very lightweight and easy to install. I also can scan photo to documents on my computer. I would definitely recommend this product.

I have hundreds and hundreds of photo prints and I wanted to digitalize and put on my computer to save. The Canon Image Formula RS40 Photo and Document Scanner is perfect . It?s compact and easy to use. Getting it set up with my computer was simple and not complicated at all. You can do one picture at a time or several . I am very happy with this scanner and can?t wait to get all of my pictures scanned and save.

I really like this Canon document and photo scanner. It is a nice size and doesn?t take up too much space. I love that it scans both sides of your document so you don?t have to flip it over. I love my cannon photograph and document scanner. It is very simple to use. The instructions are clear and easy to read. All the pictures I have scanned were scanned clear and came out with no glares.

I used this to scan all my old photos from the 80s and the image quality was just fantastic. Lots of my photos were already faded but it makes them more nostalgic so I am glad this scanner captures that. I will continue using it and my family is coming over on the weekend to scan their old photos as well.

I was in need of a scanner that was easy to use and that would scan photos. I have decided to secretly take all of the photos my Mom and Dad have and scan them so we have digital copies and I can have a beautiful book made up for them. I have a Canon printer, but that is all it does so when I was checking out other products I saw that Canon had the RS40 photo & document scanner. I have to say that this scanner is making my project so easy. You just slip the picture in and the machine does the rest. All that and hook up was a breeze. This scanner is worth every penny! I am truly impressed with the functionality, durability and quality of this printer/scanner. I never would have thought I would of needed or wanted a printer like this, but I am so thankful for it. Not only is it super easy to use it prints so well. They colors are so vibrant and the pictures come out so clear. There are so many features to this printer it is truly unbelievable. I love how easy it was to set up and how user friendly it is. I would definitely recommend this printer/scanner to anyone who is in the market for a new one or even to replace your existing one as you will not be disappointed by this one.

I was able to actually scan 40 pictures at once! They all came out perfectly! I was able to pass out photos to family members that didn't have any. This is great for graduation or wedding photos. It worked super well for just plain scanning paperwork as well for my job. I definitely like this scanner alot.

As a doctoral candidate this scanner has been a lifesaver! I had TONS of papers, journal articles, reports, literatures, etc? ALL over my office. It was to the point that I got anxiety just walking into the room. The imageFORMULA has changed the way I work. I was able to scan all of the documents are organize them in a way that was productive for me. The scanner is very simple to connect and set-up was super easy. Based on the quality and functionality I really believe that I will be able to use it for years to come! I really believe it is a must-have for students.
